  1. @Iredomi if it helps assuage your concerns, there are hints in RoW that the Singers aren't exactly innocent in the whole ordeal either. It's also implied Odium is ultimately responsible for human expansionism
  2. What kind of message does it send the people the lord is responsible for, knowing that they could be punished for merely being a suspect despite having done nothing wrong? Edit: I agree with Frustration, if the lord is willing to knowingly execute the innocent to punish the guilty, they should be willing to be executed themselves.
  3. This is ultimately a "for the greater good" issue. It might seem innocuous but being willing to kill the innocent to punish the guilty shows that you care more for punishment than justice. Your effectively committing a murder by killing the innocent person, you're just protected by the backing of a base of power.
  4. Considering Elantris itself predates the country it resides in, I don't think political borders matter much at all. Maybe a small influence on the people that can use the magic system of the area but I think that's about it
  5. This is something I've long thought should be possible. It's one of the reasons I think the Skybreakers are called Skybreakers, shooting lightning from the air down below
  6. This is one of the things I like about Wax's character growth in BoM. Him coming to the realization that it isn't that he lacks free will and does the things Harmony wants done, but that Harmony chose him because Wax is the kind of person that would do what Wax does. Best exemplified when Wax has the choice to die or live and he chooses to live and continue. Sure Harmony does some very morally questionable things to nudge Wax, but Wax is still Wax
  7. What if by quickest response time, Navani meant the quickest to connect to the paired spanreed after the gem has been turned rather than the actual speed of movement
  8. I actually think I side with Pathfinder on that there seems a reasonable that Tension could do that. It would probably reduce mobility a bit but maybe it could be used just before they take a blow
  9. I see two main potential ways Compounding can increase Allomancy. Either Compounding your Connection to Preservation for more raw power or alternatively/conjunctively because as far as we know, Nicrosil can store one's ability to use Allomancy, if you Compound your very ability to use Allomany you could potentially increase its power output
  10. Admittedly true, but doesn't change the fact of the matter. A Magnified One cracked her Plate with a single blow. They are nowhere near as strong as a chasmfiend. That would be much closer to the baseline needed to compare Plate to other powers and not the chasmfiend event. Even Adolin, Elhokar, and Sadeas all of whom are experienced with Plate were amazed he did that
  11. We can go back and forth on this all day long. At the end of the day though, that situation was an exception not the rule. In RoW, a Magnified One broke Jasnah's Plate with a single hit (two hits if you count two hands hitting simultaneously as two blows)
  12. Yes. But we don't know how much that actually is. We've seen impressive displays of strength without any description of having trouble moving Because catching allows for bracing for it and the force of the blow to be distributed through the whole Plate. Focus strikes don't generally allow for that
  13. The situation with the chasmfiend was clearly an exceptional event and should not be used as a baseline. There are far more scenes where considerably less force is used and Plate cracks We don't know what those upper limits are, but Sazed never hit them even while holding city gates closed from a hoard of superhumanly strong Koloss Maybe not initially, but WoB and implications from the Bands make it clear that it is entirely within their ability to gain that stronger Allomancy
  14. The Hemalurgy table implies destiny might actually be a thing in the Cosmere...it's a stretch but maybe the Kholins are quite literally destined for greatness
  15. I'm still flipflopping on Stormfaker idea, in some scenes the "Stormfather" seems to have aspects that are reminiscent of the Stormfather we have gotten to know. However, there are a lot of scenes where the personality is too different for me to reconcile. Maybe the Stormfather is pulling a Shallan and is having an identity crises.
  16. Assuming Bondsmiths get Plate. But even assuming they do, that still would necessitate a Fullborn letting the Bondsmith even touch them. And while Plate might absorb one blow, it's not going to last against more than that. The raw physical power available to a Fullborn should be more than enough to punch a hole through Plate. The momentum of high speed, combined with the limitless Feruchemical strength and Fullborn levels of Alomantic Pewter I'd imagine would be like the force of a semitruck smacking a space the size of a couple of inches. For strength comparisons, Vin who's Allomantic Pewter doesn't even compare to a Fullborn's was able to cut through bone with a dull sword. A Fullborn's would be at least an order of magnitude stronger and then can beef that up with Feruchemy. And as I said before, there is no reason a Bondsmith would ever even be able to touch the Fullborn unless the Fullborn allows it.
  17. People keep bringing up Bondsmiths from using their metalminds but that isn't exactly a workable strategy. First because Fullborn have some ability to manipulate their own Connection as well and may be able to counteract the Bondsmith, but more importantly, the Bondsmith would likely need to touch the Fullborn at least to do that and if they are that close...well the Fullborn just does a super fast super strong punch to the Bondsmith and burns Chromium and the fight is over
  18. I'm thinking even though the Everstorm was building up to bypass the Oathpact, it still needed a Herald to break to open the floodgates and go beyond the point of no return
  19. I've never particularly liked this argument about Rashek. First off, just about anyone and everyone would likely become complacent and at least to an extent arrogant if they went as long as he did without any real challenge. Second, and more importantly. People's argument that he didn't use his full power against Vin and Marsh. My question is why would he? You don't use a bazooka against an ant. He was completely dominating that fight and quite literally the most the two of them could accomplish was ripping off his shirt. The ONLY reason he lost was because of a literal deus ex machina Basically my point is, when a godly smite is needed to take down a villain, that's not the villain's fault that he lost
  20. I'd wager on TLR not even trying. I mean why bother go supersonic when a tiny fraction of your stored speed is plenty? Also, while the implication is that he was tapping speed, he might not have been. His basic Allomantic strength was a good greater than Vin's flaring strength. His speed from A-Pewter might very well been enough
  21. I'd want to be A-Pewter/F-Gold. Not the most exciting thing but just too darn practical for every day life
  22. Books on how to build a number of technologies that Era 2 lacks that they have the infrastructure and technology to realistically construct
  23. Gotta love how much Feruchemy breaks physics
  24. This is mostly what I do too
  25. I think F-Iron has more to do with storing mass. At least for dealing with the consequences of E=MC² but I have also thought that there is more to F-Pewter than just storing strength. As far as why F-Pewter can store A-Pewter strength. I think that is because A-Pewter is actively enhancing your muscles, bones, tendons, etc and then F-Pewter is then storing those enhanced muscles in the Pewtermind. Perhaps F-Iron stores the energy of that's bound which makes up most of the mass objects have while F-Pewter stores the structure of mass
