I think it's more an unconscious writerly decision by Brandon (i.e. an application of his Zeroth Law). Secret pools of water high up in the mountains just seem cooler than a normal lake.

Ash is going to be a Dustbringer
Scion of the Mists replied to Chromium Compounder's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Totally on board with this theory too. It just make too much sense for it not to be true. I'm not sure I've come across anybody arguing against it (must be a first for the Shard!). -
I think that the Bibliography on the Coppermind has most of this, but the Unpublished Works are separate.

@bacontime While theoretically possible, I think this would be very difficult to pull off. In addition to the spinning/exploding issue already discussed, you'd have a terrible time adjusting your forces as the object raised in the air, which would be continuously changing the equations. Maybe this could be overcome via the "instinctual" aspect of Allomancy (i.e. by a savant). I think an easier way to go about it is to push and pull from different points in your body. This would allow both your forces to act on the center of mass of the object, which would eliminate the torque. We know (or can assume) that this is possible from Zane's spinning in midair and from the "hovering a coin" WoB:

Check out the earlier posts in the thread. Mraize can't be Kelsier because Kelsier is stuck on Scadrial.

This one is pretty clear: Wistiow. @MistCLOAKed Mountains @Truthless of Shinovar - any idea for the remaining math clue? -
Could the Sibling be a Cognitive Shadow of Ambition?
Scion of the Mists replied to Jellomancer's question in Cosmere Q&A
Brandon's confirmed that only three Shards are important on Roshar: The Sibling is pretty weird, in that it doesn't make sense for it to be connected to Odium, but the other two spren are tied so closely to Honor and Cultivation. I lean toward the mix of Honor/Cultivation theory, but some people have pretty cool ideas about the Sibling being a former Unmade. -
There are Sixteen Shards right?
Scion of the Mists replied to That_One_Fangirl's question in Cosmere Q&A
Yes, you got it! You can find out more on the Coppermind (the Sanderson Wiki): https://coppermind.net/wiki/Shard. Beware spoilers though. And welcome to the Shard! -
@SandersonFanderson If it makes you feel any better, if he ever goes back to Reckoners, he'd do a Mizzy book. That's why he didn't get into it in Calamity, because he wanted the freedom to change it. His current idea is something involving detonations.

I agree with these. Any idea about the outstanding Math clue? Maybe Shallan because she gave Wikim the math problems? -
Does Dalinar now know about Adonalsium?
Scion of the Mists replied to Atreides's question in Cosmere Q&A
It is very unlikely that Dalinar held enough of Honor to become a Sliver. He definitely did not fully take up Honor.- 16 replies

Do Parshendi have Gemhearts?
Scion of the Mists replied to ShardShaper's topic in Stormlight Archive
@ShardShaper Welcome to the Shard! Parshendi do indeed have gemhearts, good catch. You can find out more info on their Coppermind page: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Singer#Gemheart. P.s. Regarding spoilers: spoiler warnings are not required if you are posting in that book's specific forums (so unmarked Stormlight spoilers are okay here but not in the Mistborn forum). If you are posting cross-book spoilers, you can use the button that looks like an eye to insert a spoiler box. -
Ashyn - how do we know what we know?
Scion of the Mists replied to NattyBo's topic in Stormlight Archive
They're Cognitive Shadows of singers killed during the Desolations. Checkout the Coppermind page: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Fused -
Urithiru an Oathgate between Roshar/Cosmere
Scion of the Mists replied to StormingAdam's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That makes it sound like they brought him with them right away. It could be allegorical, but it sure makes it sound that way. It's certainly somewhat vague, but the way that Brandon phrases "would have considered," "it wasn't like they necessarily brought him," and "he did kinda come along with them" make me think that the relationship between the humans and Odium was much less direct than is implied in Oathbringer. For example, I don't think that Ashynites had any sort of agreement with Odium. I think there might be another WoB floating around about their relationship, but I'm not able to find it right now. -
There's actually an active thread in the Stormlight forum discussing this:

Nightblood's a Nicrosil Metalmind?!?
Scion of the Mists replied to TheBeast22846's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'm convinced that the majority of Nightblood's weirdness can be attributed to him containing a Splinter of Ruin, as well as direct involvement by Endowment (probably to balance out Ruin's influence).- 9 replies

Urithiru an Oathgate between Roshar/Cosmere
Scion of the Mists replied to StormingAdam's topic in Cosmere Discussion
@Emperor Stick Can we keep the discussion on topic? @StormingAdam made this thread to discuss Urithiru, not cookies. Actually, they did not. Despite the singers referring to Odium as the human's god, Brandon has said that it was more that "The humans gave him more of an ear" and that "he did kinda come along with them," which doesn't really sound like he actively warped them to Roshar. I think it's more that he engineered the cataclysm on Ashyn (behind the scenes) to force the humans to relocate to Roshar, where he worked (also behind the scenes) to incite the conflict between them and the singers. -
Brandon has been very clear that Earth and the Cosmere are "very distinct and separated" and that any mention of Earth is "one of his dividing lines."
-
No, it was referencing the original post:
-
I think it's all but guaranteed that Brandon won't answer this question. He doesn't like shooting down theories, and honestly, there's no reason for him to settle on a particular answer. The Cosmere works fine with some unanswered questions. Also, Earth is not part of the Cosmere.

I'm not sure why black holes would be any different from other stellar bodies to Shards. The weirdness of black holes comes from their ridiculous gravitational forces (strong enough to trap light). Shards don't seem to be bound by gravity. They exist mostly in the Spiritual Realm, which almost certainly lacks gravity (since it lacks space/time).

I'm not sure I see the difference between "fire magic" and "magic that manipulates fire." In both, "magic" is the object. "Fire" is the type of magic. So "technomancy" could mean "technology magic" or "magic that manipulates technology." But it wouldn't mean "magic technology" or "technology that incorporates magic."
