  1. FWIW, he's consistently said that Snapshot is the furthest along in the process and the most likely to actually be released.
  2. Oh, you mean ridiculously destructive to the vehicle. Yes, absolutely. (I thought you meant to the surroundings, like with the relativistic baseball XKCD)
  3. Yes, it is very confusing, and Brandon hasn't explained it fully yet. My understanding is that Patji is Invested in First of the Sun and has a perpendicularity there. Patji is a part of Autonomy. But Bavadin is distinct from Patji. Either way, it doesn't seem like Trell "has taken permanent residence" or has "a base of operations" on Scadrial. (From Brandon's definition of "Invested" in your WoB)
  4. This is not true. Many of the main characters have spren who can become Shardblades.
  5. Regarding Odium's perpendicularity: (Stormlight spoilers)
  6. Shardpools "are a natural effect of a Shard spending a lot of time on a world." I don't think that Trell, whoever they end up being (*cough* Autonomy *cough*), could be considered to be "on" Scadrial, as Harmony is currently fending them off.
  7. I don't know whether or not it stores the actual nutrients, but I think it has to store more than just the feeling of hunger or thirst. The description sounds like you can actually go longer without food/water than would otherwise be possible. If the metalmind only stored the feeling or (lack of) thirst, you'd still die after three days without water.
  8. You can't surpass the speed of light using conventional methods (e.g. running really fast using f-steel). That's a hard limit in classical physics. That's why most of the FTL concepts "cheat" by, e.g. distorting space time. Plus, traveling at any reasonable percentage of the speed of light in the atmosphere is going to ... not go well. Check out the very first XKCD What If? that investigates this exact question: https://what-if.xkcd.com/1/. @Karger Mach 8 is not nearly fast enough to be "ridiculously destructive." From what I can tell, the current speed record is almost Mach 10 by the NASA's X-43.
  9. @MountainKing You need to include what book/series the spoiler is for, otherwise people won't know whether or not to open it.
  10. No problem. The parallels are pretty interesting. There's a lot of similarities in Brandon's works, even the ones that don't take place in the same universe.
  11. Are you thinking about this epigraph from The Hero of Ages? It only specifically references Elend and Yomen. Yeden died during The Final Empire.
  12. We know that the spren bonds were modeled after the Honorblades, so there has to be some amount of gap between the exodus from Ashyn and the formation of the Nahel bonds. The quote from the Eila Stele could be referring to the Ashyn version of Surgebinding (using symbiotic bonds with diseases).
  13. We don't have a ton of information about her (or Nazh). Most of what we have is on her Coppermind page. You could also check out the prose version of White Sand, which is available by signing up for Brandon's newsletter.
  14. I'm pretty sure I like it better, but it just strikes me as so inconsistent with the first cover (style-wise).
  15. Not sure I understand. You say you have a theory that Skyward and Stormlight are related, but then your last paragraph states that you know that they're not. Skyward is, however, related to another of Brandon's works: a short story called Defending Elysium. It's a short story (available on his website) that predates the alien-human war.
  16. Great job everyone! Who's up for another round? Sign up here Any volunteers for spymaster? @Rhapsody @Sariel - can one of you add the keycard to the gameboard for posterity's sake?
  17. I would lean more toward symbolic (although it wouldn't surprise me if there's a high degree of mixing, just not 100%). Her grandmother also claims that fictional characters (e.g. Beowulf) are her ancestors. I think it's a way for her grandmother to reinforce ties to "Old Earth."
  18. We've seen the Oathgate spren in Oathbringer. They're enormous, humanoid spren - one white and one black. That doesn't match the description of Cusicesh, which is blue and has four arms.
  19. Doesn't Taldain have Investiture beating down on the entire (half of the) planet 24/7 via the sun?
  20. The Coppermind has a good style guide with capitalization rules: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Coppermind:Style#Capitalization I find it easier to search the Coppermind than open up the eBooks (and I don't have all the eBooks).
  21. I haven't been able to find a dragon-Iriali connection anywhere.
  22. He had silver in place of tin, because he thought that pewter was an alloy of silver. He changed it when it was pointed out that pewter is actually an alloy of tin.
  23. I think Lift almost has to be either book 4 or book 5. She's slated to be the main POV character in book 6, and she's had very little time onscreen (especially if you don't count Edgedancer, which a lot of people won't read).
