You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
A Budgie replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When last year we had to read 12th Night (the Shakespeare play) one of my friends and I kept on joking that 'Feste,' or the Fool, was actually Hoid. -
Like this what? Like this forum? Like this banana? Anyway, nice to meet you and welcome to the shard. Be careful of the cookies.

Well, as someone who goes to a smart school (but not private, just 'acedemically selective'), I know about some of this stuff. If you want to become more focused on learning, and drop social things, that's fine. I used to do Scouts (please note, American people, that here in Australia Scouts is open for both boys and girls), but dropped it as I had to do stuff at school, and homework, etc. You may want to be careful if you devote too much of your time to working, however. Don't withdraw totally from human contact. I consider that it's worth it to be acedemically better, but that's just my choice. Others may disagree with me.

Hello, nice to meet you and welcome to the shard! I would comment on the cookies, but everyone else has already.

Nah, budgies don't eat apples. Plus I wear braces. If you want to read it though, you'll probably want to invest in getting AU, I'm not sure if you can get it elsewhere.
-
I thought it was an honourific as well. Interesting to see the Shin use them. Yes, you kind of do.
-
Yeah, it's good, but if you start on Stormlight, and then read the rest of the cosmere, you'll then need to reread because of all the cosmere references in it...

Hey, welcome to the shard. Be careful of the cookies. My first cosmere book was Mistborn, and I think that's a pretty good place to start if you want immeadiate stuff you can connect to the rest of the cosmere. You could probably start with either Elantris or Warbreaker as well if you wanted, but probably not Stormlight.

It's certainly possible that they originally had different gods...we certainly know that the Parshendi are an ancient race.
-
I think it's going to be very difficult to find any kandra in Stormlight unless Brandon wants us to find them. Kandra are designed to be masters of disguise; a reader's voice and a shared interest isn't much to go on.

Hm...this is certainly an interesting theory. It's possible, I suppose, but a little far-fetched.

I'd never heard of this bit before either.

Hey, nice to meet you and welcome to the shard! And I agree, be wary of the cookies. And the puns, too.

As someone who hasn't yet read White Sand (apart from the excerpt in AU), I can't say anything about how the graphic novel compares. However, I have read a few other graphic novels before (and had to do some stuff about them at school), and really stuff like character development all depends on the creator. Some artists can create characters using combinations of pictures and a few words or even just pictures just as well as others can with words alone.

Certainly a pretty good theroy, with good evidence. And he is. However, the character we know as Hoid stole his name from another, a long time ago. If you read the original post, it mentions that, for simplicity, the post will call the character who many of us call Hoid, who world-hops and appears in each cosmere story (bar maybe one or two), Wit, and the original person with that name Hoid.

Agreed. I had forgotten about this 'Man or Hours;' but since he's mentioned and so well known, he must be fairly important. He's not at all mentioned in the original Mistborn books, so he would have to be something a bit more recent. And since we know a lot of what happened in the Mistborn books became the stuff of legends, and even if it's more 'fairytale' than 'mythology' so it was almost certainly someone who actually existed. Kelsier certainly seems like a good bet for this 'Man of Hours.' Makes me wonder who else is hiding in fairytales and legends...

I tap my nails. My fingernails on my right hand are long, and fairly strong, so I've found I can make quite a loud, annoying sound even when I do it as a habit. I'll also hum if I have a song stuck in my head, although sometimes I'll try not to if it's a weird song.

Hey, you do stiching too? Nice! I mostly do longstich, but I'm planning to do some cross stich soon. Anyway, welcome to the shard. The puns are really bad...

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

Well, today I was doing a Bronze Medallion course for swimming...and we were doing spinal rolls and tows then told 'and then this is the part when you do the two breaths...' (please note we don't actually breathe or anything on an actual person, we just pretend to) I wanted to tell my 'unconcious' person 'my life to yours, my Breath become yours,' except of course they wouldn't get it. -
Yes, that's what I was thinking could be possible, although not nessasarily invasion.
-
It's quite possible that Brandon is in fact trying to make it look as though it is the Scadrians, as it does hint, so when we find out who it really is we are surprised. Could you just imagine if he gave us an answer and it was an unconsidered group/people, like from Nathlis? Just to troll us. Also, since as we have said that Six of the Dusk is possibly very very far in the future of the cosmere, who knows what has changed?
-
Into...Shards? Okay, that one was a bit of a stretch, but I'm awful at puns in any case.
-
I agree. That was my impression after reading Sixth of the Dusk.
