  1. Nope...good try though... Your Signature really freaks me out....time to research VPNs I guess.
  2. Not sure I agree... Ill sleep on it. Truthfully, I make them all into electrical circuits....it's what I know.
  3. @Cowmanthethird oh I still use it...I just don't trust it. Too many times I can't find what is cited, and several times when I did it was the wrong book...I am just very Leary of the citations. If you are coming to cite something it should link to the word for word imo....but I am an anal retentive, source obsessed, ex submariner nuke...which pretty much makes everything before submariner superfluous.
  4. Lol I am getting old I guess...was nowhere on my list.
  5. @redbishop Chilled = under the influence of the Thrill?
  6. May could also be a nickname for a more Althethi name...Mayam...Yamay lol..or in reality 1 letter off. So mayan, mayash, Yamash, etc.
  7. Lol I have been...umm put in an uncomfortable position by Coppermind so many times I do not accept it as a source any more. Mostly bc the citations often only reflect back to the summaries which do not even mention anything in the citation. I will only consider it 2 if it actually showed the other 8.
  8. @Calderis that was my assumption as well...just looking for confirmation. @Rebecca the Ars Arcanum shows... THE TEN ESSENCES AND THEIR HISTORICAL ASSOCIATIONS , Then gems are listed, but not those in spheres.
  9. Yes, I edited to reference dead shard blades since theoretically none of the Skybreakers broke. But 9 or 8 either way.
  10. Ok I can't find the WOB your talking about @Calderis....but here are a few others for the thread to consider. Insert StormFather into the blanks. Now debate....
  11. Meh I have to go read all the terminology associated with this again... I think of this stuff as Source, Key, Filter, and Output.
  12. I personally assume that there are 9 different types of shard blades (since bondsmiths do not get 1) each with its one alloy of Honor and Cultivation metals. Or possibly 8, if the Skybreakers never fell...
  13. Now my imagined view of Urithiru is a 180 level Escher drawing....
  14. Yes...exactly...what are we disagreeing on?
  15. During my most recent reread I noticed this. Why are there only 9 types of spheres vs. 10? Which gem is missing? Thoughts? I have noted diamond, emerald, amethyst, and garnet so far. @Duncan noted zirconium and ruby. Coppermind says it is heliodor or smokestone missing....anyone doing rereads please watch for those with me.
  16. Except that spren filter on Roshar. This is why Brandon said that what szeth was doing was so dangerous with the honorblade.
  17. Blackness, faintly violet overtones. this makes me think of a black light, which is mostly UVA.
  18. I find the use of the word currenty, very WOBbit hole invoking.
  19. There has to be some sort of Feedback loop in these visions. Dalinar talks to different people in them, he does different things within the repeat of the same vision. So somehow his consciousness has an effect, however slight on the environment of the vision. He assumes it is a champion, bc a champion has been mentioned before. He has a subconscious view of what this champion should be, and based on how he has changed, it might correspond to he reveling in the Thrill in his youth. Therefore, he himself might be influencing his own vision with a bit of what he expects.
  20. Squires get their power through their bond to the Radiant. The Radiant gets his/her power through their bond through their spren. Therefore squires get their power through the Radiants spren. These suggests 2 possible reasons why Lopen could heal at the time. Syl was close enough for him to draw on the ability. Or more likely 2. The Lopen was upholding one of the Ideals that Kaladin had sworn. Specifically, the Lopen was standing in for Kaladin in protecting Elkohar. By upholding this ideal in Kaladin s place, the Lopen himself was closer to a Radiant state. If you look at all the times the squires demonstrate powers, they are always defending on of the Windrunners Ideals. Kholinar, Aladar, Sebarial, and Roion all took terrible losses in the battle against the Stormforms. Dalinar himself says he lost all of his battle lords expect one who was wounded. The troops had to be equally devastated. Only functioning war camps may be listed.
  21. The metals only have to be in contact with the physical body...not ingested...afawk. I will have to disagree there. Being at ground 0 for even a very small explosion like little boy vaporized everything on a molecular level at ground 0. This means not only is the body broken down to basic molecular components, but also any metal minds. If you somehow survived this stage and materialized you body from basic elements somehow, you would then have to survive the implosion wave as well. The shear amount of stored healing is astronomical...even with compounding you would need tons of gold due to the energy storage limitations of your f gold, which would be vaporized at the same time. As an example, you get shot, exploded etc...it is a single moment event, you have an atomic bomb dropped, your going to have to keep healing until your out of the radiation zone, after being vaporized, then imploded. I'll show you guys the math if you want, but I truly think nothing could survive a modern nuclear bomb.
  22. On Galivar black sphere I think you needed to quote more. One other thing to take into consideration is this. Edit @jofwu I think the crystalline part is important. And the drawing in of light with a Reverse Lashing should be considered too.
  23. Ok, I like the theory in general, but I am going to nitpick your terminology bc I think it is highly misleading. I had a problem with Khriss's use of the word Catalyst from the moment I read it, so this is not on you. A Catalyst is an agent that increases the rate/speed/efficincy/desired outcome of a reaction, that is NOT consumed by the reaction. An everyday example of this is the catalytic converter in your car. The platinum coating provides a boost the the breakdown of nitrogen oxide to N2 and O2 gasses....it is not consumed. Scadrial: Metals are consumed by Allomancy. If anything is the Catalyst, it is the sDNA of the Allomancer. I'm going to fall back on circuit theory for my explanation, but I can make a mechanical anthology as well. Electrical theory example. The metals are gating the Investure path through the Allomancer for a specific result. It is like the metals are a charged capacitor on the gate of an IGBT or MOSFET. as long as there is still a large enough charge there, the Investiture flows through the Allomancer giving the desired output. When the metals are depleted...The charge is depleted, and the gating stops...The stopping the Investiture flow. Mechanical example. Imagine a pressurized water system. It has a self actualized pressure relief valve. Now the amount of metals consumed equals the pressure above the triggering of the relief valve applied to it. So when you burn a metal, you trigger the relief valve to bleed off pressure and Investiture flows out as designated by the relief system. Turning on and off burning your metal is isolating and returning the valve to the system. As your metal burns, the dp is lowering until you run out and it self isolates again. Actually that is a pretty poor example, Ill refine it later. Roshar: It suffers not only from the above definition of catalyst, but also bc stormlight and water there seem to have some sort of relationship. Uses of stormlight, which was contained in some way, always seem to result in condensation or frost. State changes, don't necessarily rule out a catalytic effect though. Taldain: Sand masters once again expend body water to invoke an Investiture flow... Nalthis: I assume by EMR....your referring to electromagnetic radiation? If so, I think there is a couple things you haven't considered. Sel: I have to think on Sel a bit. Now, I like a lot of the idea, I just think you have errors in how it functions mainly bc Khriss used the word Catalyst, which I think is incorrect.
  24. Ok I have a serious issue with a bit of your terminology. The word Catalyst. I really wish you had made this a combined post, it would be easier. I'll go into details under the Catalyst post.
  25. Or in Marvel terms....consider this the Juggernaut vs the Blob......unstoppable force vs immovable object.
