  1. Lol I think I am swamped with too much info at This point....
  2. @hwiles you will see where my thoughts are running soon enough. I am actually focusing on Scadrial for the 1.0 version. But stormlight and gravitation is a very good second method of investigation.
  3. I am not sure it is as simple as this. I will admit I only joined this conversation to "poke the bear" metaphorically speaking. Soucasting is in the same magic tree as forging imo... both change the state of matter. We know with forgery that breaking the seal reverts it back. Logic says there should be an equivalent with soulcasters.
  4. Well it seems very clear to me that the unit is the Pahlstrom.
  5. Yes...but...breaking the bead should break the over write to smoke. Yes? So since it has thought of itself as stone for so long, shouldn't it come back as stone?
  6. I have been looking around a bit, but with so much source material and the esoteric nature of the question, I might have not found the correct search parameters. Has Brandon given us a unit for Investiture? Ie.energy in general is joules, electricity is watts, mechanical work is horse power..... Investiture is?
  7. Shallodin/shallodan......the love triangle hype has distanced me from all 3.....simply bc I guess I just don't care enough about love interests in the series. It is a Science Fantasy not Romance novel! That's my 2 Diamond chips.
  8. @Forerunner have an up vote for boldly jumping into to theories, then graciously acknowledging it was wrong.....keep them coming!!!!!
  9. So a bit of a thought experiment like Schrodinger's cat.... What happens if you soulcast something that has been in its present state for a long time....like say a puller of rock into smoke. The break its bead in the CR. Does it return to rock?
  10. It could be psychological as well...like an placebo effect or hypochondria. She expects some effect and causes it to herself.
  11. I vote for a separate thread for each weeks posts with no spoilers beyond the week listed. That way is someone gets behind (as much as I doubt that will happen here) they have a clear cutoff point to avoid spoilers.
  12. I second this question. Disregard.....I missed Calderis reply.
  13. I have always envision them as 3 different colors of yarn twisted together and then rolled up into a ball. You can still see each of the individual colors close up, but from a distance it simply is one color. Each individual string is closely integrated into the whole and closely touching both other strings in multiple ways. The 3 twisted strings into 1 new string are the 3 phases and each point on the new string represents how it could be in each phase much like solid, liquid, and gas. Separate, yet joined. The ball is because each bit affects not just the bits next to it in the twisted triple, but other things as well. Now the 3 realms I envision as a hypercube. There is a visual video demonstration of what I am talking about. The physical realm is all the space inside the unfolded 3D hypercube. The cognitive realm is the surface of the unfolded 3D hypercube. The spiritual realm is the folded 4D hypercube. This gives you a 2D cognitive realm, which follows our observations and WOBs. A 3D physical realm which matches our observations. Both ignoring time as a dimension because reality is only experienced in the moment. And finally a 4D spiritual realm where all time and locations exist as one. I view concentrations of Investiture like shard pools very similar to this. Like a black hole, large concentrations of Investiture warp space time in the physical and cognitive realms bringing them closer and closer together until they merge much like time and space do at the center of a singularity. With aluminum, I look at it from an electronics standpoint. I think of it as a circuit that when closed normally goes strait to ground. It takes any Investiture applied to it and grounds it out in the spiritual realm. Now circuits can be very complex, and in the case of feruchemy, I think there is an added bit...like a transistor, that shunts the Investiture off to an Investiture capacitor that stores it while charging. Then a second transistor shunts it back to the user when withdrawing. The gating for these is unique to each feruchemist.
  14. There is a pretty good description, but not as nearly detailed on Coppermind Here.
  15. I really admire the way you stated this...antagonist rather than "Evil". Evil is only defined by the perceptions and morals of the viewer. Many people would say the Lord Ruler was "evil" for creating the society he did, but he did it to save the world.... A large part of every book Brandon writes is about perception. We have a history of over 60 years of the USSR, were many of the people thought all religion was "evil", same with capitalism. By your logic, every Vessel except Saze is "evil". They killed Adonalsium. It is a reoccurring theme in the cosmere, which is why the command phrase "Destroy Evil" for Nightbringer caused so much problems. Evil truly is in the eye of the beholder.
  16. Did anyone else notice Celtic mythological influences in Aether? Maybe it was just me, but I immediately associated the Former with the Formorians. He spawned children who went by Slaughter and Dispair much as the Formarians were the personification of famine, drought, chaos, death etc. They fought against the first men, and half breeds while in AoN their own creations (the aethers) were used against them. Meh, it is probably that I read a Celtic mythology book just before rereading it now.
  17. I came across a Reddit which Brandon replied to that has additional info on First Dahns. I am new to the Reddit app and could not find an url to link. I did start a discussion about it Here.. It has the dates of his replies before each quote, so someone more knowledgeable should be able to find it.
  18. Yah, I went through and manually removed them all. It must be something with the copy option from the Reddit app conflicting with the paste option here while using my kindle. I also could not find a link in the Reddit app to post with it, but I am very new to Reddit. There must be an easier way to do it lol.
  19. I recently came across this on Reddit and had not seen this detailed info here. Brandon chimed in, so I thought I would bring it here to discuss. Shagomir wrote on Aug 6, 2017: Brandon's replies. Mistborn replied on August 7, 2017: Additional comments by Brandon. Mistborn on August 11, 2017. Enasor then asked on August 11, 2017: Brandon replied on August 11, 2017:
  20. Well, we do have at least one other instance that cognitive beings can hurt at the very least, and possibly kill other cognitive beings while in the CR. While Jansah is in the CR, Ivory mentions that painspren are coming and they need to flee. Jansah says they are harmless, to which the reply is that they are harmless in PR, but harmmore in the CR.
  21. @Thanatos I think Hoid is just below Odium's interest at the present. He has many other shards to concern himself with first.
