  1. For "A Whole New World" you could use Kaladin and Syl when he learns to Lash for the first time. I thought about it some more, and I thought of Rashek and Kwaan when they're plotting to kill Alendi and replace him with Rashek. That and your example are the only ones I can think of, since Graves and Moash didn't seem to fit the tone.
  2. "You're welcome" Can anyone think of one using "Be Prepared"? I'm trying to come up with one, but none of the characters seem to both fit Scar and the act of overthrowing someone.
  3. I don't know if I missed something, so I'm going to ask, how do we know that Skai and Aona were Rayse's parents? Was this mentioned in a WOB somewhere?
  4. I would be focusing on a character who only has access to two of the powers, with the other powers being mentioned, maybe seen, but not the center of attention. Would this address that issue?
  5. How much magic is too much magic? For example, I have a magic system made up of 26+ individual powers, however similar to mistborn, it is rare to have all of the powers, with most people either having one or two. However, at what point does it begin to become too much magic?
  6. If I had to guess, I would say that Mental Commands are entirely made up of the mental image component of Awakening. While vision of target would likely help, if an Awakener had a good enough mental visualization, it may be possible that they would not require visual confirmation, at least with objects they are familiar with.
  7. Can Lifeless be given Breath after being made? If so, can they be ordered to use it? Could they potentially use it of their own free will? I've looked, and while there have been statements that Lifeless are more aware than most know, I haven't seen anything regarding whether they can receive Breath and use it.
  8. From the copper mind: What are the limits of this power? Is this strictly limited only to a person's natural range, or can it be enhanced? Could the God King resurrect an entire army just by using a very big megaphone? At what point does this stop being "the sound of their voice" i.e does it ignore artificially generated audio? If technology were to progress, and the God King installed a PA system in his castle, would this allow him to Awaken anything in any room? Continuing on this train of thought, could the God King Awaken through a phone?
  9. I was reading it, and I remember thinking to myself "Any second now. There's going to be a pivot and Alcatraz will come out and say it was a joke. Any second now." But it didn't. Dif surprised me, I thought something was up with him, but I never expected him not to be a Smedry, much less Biblioden.
  10. Was Szeth's Oathstone magical? I was under the impression it was just symbolic/a way of proving ownership.
  11. Hello and welcome to the Shard! Have an up vote. If you want to put something on the bottom/create a signature, click on where your name shows up in the top right corner. After that, click "account settings", from there you click "signature". The cookies are a confection created by The Dark Alley. As to why they are dangerous, the way they are spiked filled with flavor can be overwhelming. It's best to avoid them.
  12. (Disclaimer: Wild Speculation) This question came to me while looking at the "Why is Nightblood Special" topic. I was wondering whether Nightblood could use other world's investiture/magic systems. Namely, through magic technology such as the fabrials and medallions. He is essentially a living thing, and he (we assume) has a soul, which would make it appear as if he meets all of the requirements to use one (i.e living and have a soul/identity). True, he likely wouldn't be able to use a fabrial due to lack of hands, but a medallion only requires the user to touch the metal rings. So would Nightblood be able to use medallions? If so, how would this work with storing certain attributes? And, if it is possible for Nightblood to use medallions, what would happen if someone strapped the Bands to him?
  13. Probably more cheerful than people were thinking, but I thought it could be amusing. The Lord Ruler's "You're Welcome"
  14. "Freefalling" for Kaladin. Whenever I here the song on the radio I think of him learning to Lash.
  15. It's possible there's a Harmony's version of the Pits of Hathsin, and that's where the ettmetal comes from.
  16. How do you come up with maps? People are always talking about them, but I can never visualize the minute details of my fantasy worlds. I have a general picture, but I don't know how to convert that into a detailed map.
  17. I thought about that as I was typing up the theory. The only way I can think of that would help get around that would be to store only weak memories, so that you still have enough to remember the basic conversation. What do you mean by the three types of metal? I don't follow you there. I agree that the effort involved makes it highly impractical, especially when there are already simpler solutions, I just thought it could be an interesting application of the technology.
  18. This is a theory/idea based on the medallion technology we see in BoM. In it we see how the medallions can give people feruchemical powers. So, if you had two medallions that gave people F-copper, could you potentially create a telepathic telephone? It would work by having one medallion connected to another by one continuous copper wire. The first person would then place their hand on their medallion and use its powers to create an unkeyed coppermind. They would store their current thoughts in the wire, which since it is one continuous piece would be considered one metal mind. The second person would then use the second medallion to view what was stored in the copper mind and give their response. Each user would see that someone has responded by seeing that the copper mind has been modified. Obviously due to the copper wire this would be limited over a smaller distances, but I think that this could have interesting applications, especially as Scadrial moves closer to the modern age.
  19. Something I thought of when I was trying to think of powers that all sentient Awakened objects would share, would be the mind control aspect. Night blood is able to influence/control evil people, making them want to "destroy evil". Maybe what Vasher was afraid of was someone created a awakened object that could control people in other ways. That could be frightening, if someone could create a weapon that could control other people, especially if it could work on a massive scale. Instant mind control army. That's the best reason I could come up with.
  20. Sorry it has been a while, I've been busy. I have come up with ideas for Dockson and the Hazekiller piece. For Dockson, there are two ideas. For the first I was thinking that he could have the one-time ability to "Rally the troops", which would allow all pawns in his row to move forward one space. This ability could not be used on a pawn that hasn't moved at least once. The second option is based on Kingsdaughter's idea, where Dockson can "Infiltrate" the enemy. This would work in that he can move into a non-checking location, and not be attacked. The way this is different from Atium is that he can not take a piece using this ability. For the Hazekiller I'm thinking that since they've trained to fight allomancers, they would be prepared for Thugs, so the Hazekiller piece's ability would be that Ham can't take them. Let me know what you think!
  21. Does this definitively mean that he can just grow a new head? And if so, does this also apply to any Gold compounder or Feruchemist with enough health?
  22. There is also the fact that in the book, Vasher imagines an army of Lifeless wielding Nightbloods. True, a single sword would likely not influence a battle by much, but even a small group of them could prove damaging, especially if Lifeless are able to wield Nightblood without needing extra Breaths.
  23. If you wanted to take the overkill route you could lead them into a building, and then pour molten aluminum over them. They won't be able to see the aluminum coming since aluminum doesn't have an atium-shadow. If you wanted a slightly less drastic method, you could get an aluminum gun and some aluminum-lined clothing. This would make it so that both you and your weapon are essentially invisible to the Atium burner's future sense. These are the best methods I can come up with that don't rely on magic. Otherwise, Steel is the way to go. It doesn't matter if they see you coming, they won't be able to react quickly enough.
  24. This sounds good, especially in the case of TLR. I have added it to the rules. Thank you for the input!
  25. It's funny, because the reference wasn't intentional. I just randomly came up with the question. The current results are pretty interesting, because in almost every other group zombie cows have always been the majority. Must be the abundance of Monty Python references. *At the time of this post: Man-eating Rabbits-11 Zombie Cows-2
