  1. I was referring to the characters on Roshar with respect to shardblades. In WoR we see both Kaladin and Szeth try to avoid being cut in the spine in order to avoid soul damage.
  2. I'm fairly sure that Hoid is a special case, since he is currently the most-powerful non-shard. I believe the WoB that talks about him growing a new head is in response to a question of what would happen if Hoid's head was cut off with a shardblade. Since all of the characters we've seen so far have had to avoid damage to the nervous system even when Invested, it's unlikely that the head regrowth applies to everyone. As for the WoB about Miles, it was referring to what would happen if you bisected Miles down the middle, so even in this case the head is still attached to both halves.
  3. Is the mind independent of their brain? I thought the Cognitive Aspect was linked to the brain and as a result if your brain was separated from your body you would no longer be able to manipulate it i.e grow a new head from your body. As for Miles, he took shots to the head, but never was his brain separated from his body. Hold I assumed was a special case, since we don't know how exactly he heals.
  4. I don't see how this proves TLR can regrow a head. If it did, that would suggest that Miles could regrow a head as well if he was beheaded, which didn't seem to be the case. Do you have a quote or a WoB that specifically states that?
  5. Are we sure that TLR can grow back a new head? He may have survived decapitation, but I assumed that was by healing his neck as it was cut. I was under the impression that if you cut off his head and kept it separated from his body long enough that he would eventually die. Is this incorrect?
  6. I believe most of it is in the Coppermind, under "Aons". Otherwise I think the only other place it can be found is in the 10th anniversary edition of Elantris.
  7. Here you go:
  8. That makes sense. I was curious, since you can presumably reverse inanimate soul-casting. So, to be clear, when a human is soul-cast the Cognitive Aspect is what changes and the Spirit/soul goes away in the process?
  9. I thought of this while reading the part where Jasnah gives Shallan a "philosophy lesson". I can understand how the man who was turned into fire can never be brought back, due to the fire disappearing, but what about the one who was turned into a statue? Has there been something that states a person that is turned into an inanimate object can't be reanimated?
  10. I've done a small edit regarding The Final Empire misborn/knight piece. It is now immune to emotional allomancy. This is to differentiate it from the upcoming Hazekiller and other alternate knight pieces. Other edits include clarification regarding the rules of Soothing and Rioting.
  11. Chaos erupted in the back of the Slpegnerhf's UFO as the twins began fighting again. Mr. Slpegnerhf turned around from the controls, his face a furious shade of blue. "Meela! Junior! Would the two of you stop fighting for 5 parsecs?!" he yelled. "Junior keeps pulling on my tentacles!" Meela whined. "Nu-uh!"Junior goaded. As this devolved into a series of "Yeah-huh"'s and "Nu-uh"'s Mr. Slpegnerhf's temper began to reach it's peak. This was supposed to be a nice family outing to the Gammalon Supernova, but had since turned into a 14 light-year UFO ride of horror. The fact that Mrs. Slpegnergf managed to sleep the whole time, and had thus been unable to help with the children hadn't improved Mr. Slpegnergf's mood. As Mr. Slpegnerhf began another rebuke, he noticed something out of the corner of his eyestalk. "Oh great!" He snarled. "I missed my exit! Now I have to figure out a new route!" He turned furiously towards the back. "Not another word out of anyone!" He had barely finished speaking when one of his children raised their tentacle. "I have to pee." Jimmy whined. "I told you to go 2 light-years ago!" Mr. Slpegnergf snapped. He began to turn back when he noticed his youngest son, who had turned a sickly yellowish-orange. "Narlwin?"He asked cautiously. Narlwin looked up at him. "I don't feel so good." he grumbled. Mr. Slpegnergf realized what was coming next. "Out the window out the window" he yelled, desperately rolling down the window as Narlwin began to glow. There was a flash of light, followed by thunderous crack, as if a rather large rock had been split into pieces. "That's better." Narlwin sighed contentedly. Mr. Slpegnergf was staring out the window in horror. "Oh wrux!" He breathed. The UFO veered sharply to the right as he decided to get as far away as possible. Maybe he'd take his kids to McNeutron while they got their stories straight. 20 Years Later The last survivors of what had been the human race huddled around the campfire, listening as the elder began his story. "Folks say there used to be a glowing thing in the sky at night too. Called it the moon" --------- Everyone gasped in horror as the sales-clerk pulled out a wallaby.
  12. He probably did later. I checked Alloy of Law: There is another description earlier that mentions two eye-spikes. He probably didn't pick it up when he went to fight Elend because Ruin didn't care at the time.
  13. That could probably work, since they could use f-zinc to quickly analyze the information. Otherwise it may be similar to electrum, where you would have to train yourself to react quickly.
  14. By this do you mean an Ascended piece automatically moves to checkmate if it is taken and the opponent is in check? (Sorry about all the questions, just need clarification)
  15. I assumed that Marsh just picked up the spikes Vin removed. Was there any mention during his fight with Elend of him missing a spike?
  16. I was making a joke about how in WoA Vin attacks Cett, killing 300 people, all because Zane convinced her Cett sent an assassin.
  17. I can't remember if this question has been answered before, and I didn't find anything that mentioned this, so I'm going to ask: what has Marsh been doing all this time? There have been several instances during the Era 2 books when I've thought to myself: "If only Wax and Wayne had a mistborn to help them out. Too bad they're all gone...oh wait." Wax and Wayne have been facing some fairly important threats, the biggest ones being bleeder and the set trying to retrieve the bands. I understand that one reason is "Well then it wouldn't be much of a story, would it?", but there must be an in-world reason. So where has Marsh been all this time and what is he doing now? Will he show up again before Era 2 is over?

  19. I agree that a Seeker would never be able to actually see/sense metals. My thoughts were that they would be able to tell where a misting is concentrating their power, and use this location to avoid incoming metal, since this would be where a Coinshot would be pushing. Essentially a Seeker would think: "I can sense the Coinshot is pushing on something 10ft away. Whatever he's pushing on is getting closer, I should duck...now." That's how I imagined it at least. As for Vin not being able to see Elend receiving Breeze's Soothing, I assumed that this was shown by her description of "something" sucking in the pulses.
  20. Found it! I was referring to something that happened earlier: From Chapter 20 (emphasis by me) In the text Vin senses the direction Breeze is directing his power, and does so with her eyes closed. True, she likely figured out who it was due to remembering how everyone was oriented before she closed her eyes, but I believe that this still shows a Seeker can, at the very least, sense the direction of Soothing/Rioting. From there it seems logical that a Seeker could also discern which metal a Coinshot/Lurcher is Pushing/Pulling (while it is being Pushed/Pulled) if they did the necessary training. My thinking was that if the Seeker could then get enough control to sense the exact distance between themselves and whatever is being affected, they could presumably dodge coins or other bits of metal that were being Pushed/Pulled towards them. Admittedly, this ability would be dependent on the Coinshot or Lurcher giving the object a constant push/pull.
  21. I am aware of the fact that Seeker's sense the source of Allomancy, but I was certain that during WoA Vin used Bronze to see who Breeze was Soothing, which seemed to suggest that a Seeker can sense what an Allomancer is affecting, as long as they are actively doing so. I will try to find the exact quote.
  22. Here's something I came up with while thinking about other uses for Bronze and Copper. I remembered how when Marsh was talking to Vin he described what mastery of Bronze allow you do, namely: sense how much metal they have left, when they are flaring, what emotions a soother/rioter is effecting, and whom. This last one was the one that interested me, since it essentially means a Seeker can, with enough training/skill, sense where a misting is directing their powers. I then wondered whether this was strictly limited to brass and zinc, or if it could be used towards other metals. Which leads to my theory: That a Seeker can, with enough practice/training, sense metals that are being Pushed or Pulled on. This would essentially give the Seeker steel-sight as long as a misting is Pushing or Pulling on a metal. I had a tangent based on this theory that a Seeker would have pseudo-atium against Coinshots or Lurchers, but I digress. Is this a reasonable theory? Let me know what you think.
  23. This is a fairly simple idea. A person makes up a sentence. The next person then needs to come up with a short story that uses that sentence either in the beginning or the end. After they finish the story, they then leave another sentence at the end of their post for the next person to use. Feel free to make the sentence ridiculous or weird. That's what makes it a challenge (and in my opinion, fun). I'll start: "Dave grabbed the duck and ran, fully aware that the fate of the world now rested on his shoulders."
  24. Changing you appearance takes "a very specific bit of mental gymnastics". It is unlikely that a Returned could just stumble upon the mental trick required to change their appearance on purpose. As a result they would likely accept any damage done to them, unaware of how they could change it. As for how Lightsong was able to heal Susebron, I imaging it was similar to Soulcasting, where he forcibly overwrote Susebron's Cognitive aspect of being tongueless in order to heal him.
  25. This is a fairly simple question/theory. According to this WOB: This seems to suggest that if a Returned could master the specific bit of mental gymnastics, they could achieve a sort of mind over matter and heal themselves by viewing themselves as they were before they were injured. This would likely occur some time after the injury occurred, since I doubt a Returned could achieve instantaneous healing by simply thinking/believing "I'm uninjured".
