This sounds interesting. For clarification, do objects on your person not transfer to the mirror realm when you do? From what you are saying it sounds like they don't, but does this extend to clothes? This sounds similar to the magic system in Garth Nix's Seventh Tower series. Do the crystals form naturally or are they man-made?

Questions about Shardblade Summoning
Faceless Mist-Wraith replied to Faceless Mist-Wraith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I thought of another question that is basically an extension of question #2 and #5. If a kandra owned multiple shard blades, and made a body with 2-3 hearts (for sake of argument), would they be able to assign a shardblade to each heart and summon several shard blades pseudo-simultaneously? -
Skimmers floating and flying

Welcome to the shard! Quick question: If iron stores weight, not density, shouldn't a person sink regardless of their weight since they still have a greater density than water? -
Surgebinding without stormlight?

Aluminum depletes your metal stores and Duralumin makes them compress in a single moment. There may be some god-metal alloy of these metals that gives plain investiture when burned. If so, you could potentially use this metal. That would be my best guess. -

It's a puzzle game where the main character is trying to escape from a force called The Void by using colors and their associated powers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nihilumbra Your magic system made me think of it since both magic systems share the color with an attribute aspect. Quick question. How exactly are people chosen? Is it a universal random assignment, or is there some greater force that is behind the choosing?

Questions about Shardblade Summoning
Faceless Mist-Wraith replied to Faceless Mist-Wraith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I was not aware of this. Is this because a Leecher removes Investiture or is there some additional interference with the Cognitive Realm? -
I was thinking about the mechanics of Shardblade summoning, namely the ten heartbeats rule and the available mass to be summoned. I started coming up with questions, which lead to more questions. These are all of the questions/half-theories I came up with. How solid is the 10 heartbeat rule? If a person has a pacemaker, or an irregular heartbeat, does it still follow the actual beats the person's heart, or does it only follow the concept of ten heart beats? If a Kandra owned a shardblade, and crafted a body with multiple hearts, would the summoning time be shortened, or would it be based of the beats of one of the hearts? If there was a cyborg from Mistborn Era 4 (the space opera), and the cyborg had an entirely robotic heart, would the cyborg be able to summon a shardblade? If a Feruchemist or Steelrunner tapped steel, would they be able to summon a blade more quickly? If a person owns multiple shard blades, do they need to have ten heartbeats per blade, or could a person conceivably summon multiple blades at once? What are the limitations on size of a live shardblade? Are they based on mass or surface area? Could you summon a really large, but hollow hammer? If you summoned a live shardblade and turned it into a backpack, and then stored something in the shard-backpack, would the item stay in the shard-backpack when it disappears? If your spren was in the Cognitive Realm and it was holding an apple (for sake of discussion), and it was summoned, would the apple travel with the spren? What if the spren swallowed the apple?

I think it could be interesting, seems semi-similar to "Heroes". I am somewhat biased however, in that I like the x-men.

Testing Mistborn Chess
Faceless Mist-Wraith replied to Faceless Mist-Wraith's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I know that it has been a while, but I just wanted to add the alternate character moveset. If anyone tries them out and finds any flaws, or has some advice for improvement, I would appreciate it. Alternate Character rules (Spoilered for size): -
There is a game called Nihilumbra that has a similar magic mechanic. Is there any particular system that decides what power goes to what color? In that is it linked to symbolism related to that color or is it unrelated? Orange: Heat/light

@Kingsdaughter613 was the one who came up with the version with the ascension mechanic, so I'm not entirely sure. If I were to guess I would say that they would respawn into the available space closest to where they would normally respawn. Update: I had written a better idea for Dockson down, but had forgotten to update it here. The idea was that he would be able to switch positions with an adjacent ally piece at the end of his turn. This would avoid the possible confusion with atium and the complication of moving all the pawns that could result from the other ideas. I have added this idea for Dockson and the Hazekiller to the alternate piece list, and added a copy of this list to the top of the first page for ease of access. A copy of these rules has also been added to the testing specific post. I will probably start working on an Era 2 version soon. Let me know if you have any ideas, or thoughts on the Era 1 rules.

Vin has the benefit of copper, which can help her out if she can't ignore it. Besides, if they were to use Durlanium, the metal would likely move with enough force and speed to ignore a majority of the Reverse Lashing effect. In the case of a knight with transportation, we don't know how quickly they can hop between dimensions. The only time we've physically seen someone use this power was with Jasnah at the end, and it did not look particularly zippy.

Welcome to the Shard! For the radiant vs. mistborn, I think it would depend on whether the radiant had shard plate. If they did, unless the mistborn used durlanium + steel from the get go, the radiant would likely win. For Jezrien vs TLR, I would have to go with TLR, due to his unlimited speed, strength, healing etc.

What are core possibilities 1-4? Also, I'm not sure that there would be no weaknesses if Calamity left. There might not be the corrupted Epics, but I think the weaknesses come hand in hand with the powers. I could be wrong though.

where did siri and susebron get the board?
Faceless Mist-Wraith replied to king of nowhere's topic in Warbreaker
I always figured that Siri acquired it. It has been a while since I've read the book, but I'm fairly sure that she was able to request small things, such as books. A board wouldn't be too out of the ordinary. -
Mortmain, Vahr, and Wilkins. Any advice for writing multiple viewpoints over a short period of time? I am working on a part where I am semi-hopping between different characters in order to show the reader what's going on. The characters are in different parts of a train, so I can't show the reader from a single viewpoint, but some of the events are happening semi-simultaneously and I feel like the flow would feel off if I kept rewinding to show things from a different perspective. On the other hand, some of these events are important to the overarching story, so I don't feel like I can skip them. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure that the Stormfather said that Dalinar couldn't have any shards, just that he himself would not be a sword for him. Since the remaining shard blades are dead spren and would result in mental screaming if Dalinar picked one up, I think he made a generalization that Dalinar wouldn't be able to get a shardblade.

Maybe they can utilize these blades to summon Szeth's blade in the event that he is defeated? This would explain why Szeth is so certain that they would be able to recover it should he fall? And, if this isn't how it is done, does this maybe mean that the Shin will go after Kaladin in order to recover the blade? *Yay! 200th post!

Quick idea, if this process could be used to replicate human dna and produce a human child, could a kandra use this same process but with their own dna?
