The only other thing I can think of is the possibility that they may have strong emotional Allomancy, and could thus affect the kandra, but that seems somewhat unlikely since they focused on bronze and the physical metals.

My main question about this was why make such societally damaging punishment. If it was just the oathstone, it might be "fine" since this would just force him to do things against his will. However, the Shin give him a shardblade, guaranteeing that people will ask him to do violent tasks. Not only that, the shardblade they gave him grants him special powers that people haven't seen before, further increasing the amount of destruction he can cause, especially since he can't take his own life. If becoming a Truthless as punishment for some lie is supposed to have religious overtones, why do they make it so that his punishment will inevitably lead to the harm of others? And if for some reason they just have to give a Truthless a shardblade, why give them an Honorblade, something that should likely be protected? Additionally, Szeth accepts his situation, which suggests that Truthless are a known part of his culture, not some obscure punishment that had never been used before. If this is true, since I doubt that people were regularly claiming the return of Voidbringers, what level of falsehood is considered Truthless severity?

This came to me while I was thinking about what might happen in the next book. Why are Truthless a thing in the Shin culture? What purpose do they actually serve? Because, when you think about it, it is an incredibly weird punishment. "Oh what's that? You broke one of our laws? Congratulations you're a murder slave". Why on earth would the Stone Shamans make this a thing, where they give someone an honor blade, and then tell them to obey the commands of anyone with the Oathstone? What exactly does this punishment accomplish? On a secondary note, while I was typing this I started wondering what would happen if an Oathstone broke. Would each fragment of the Oathstone be considered an individual Oathstone, allowing for multiple masters? What if masters gave conflicting orders?

I think this has come up before, but I don't think there has been a definitive answer on whether a Kandra and a human can have a baby. However, if we did go by what you are saying (i.e the kandra is replicating human genetic information), this would just mean a regular human is born.

I was unsure if it was object or Breath based, since when you command lifeless it seems to make sense that you are commanding the object. Mostly I was thinking that if it was Breath based, you could potentially give your Breath advanced commands such as Vasher's rope, only like "invest what I hold when I twitch my finger".

This is a question about the mechanics of Awakening. The way I understand it, an Awakener gives their Breath away, Investing an object and making it do certain actions via Commands. My question is when an Awakener does this, are they Commanding the object itself or are they commanding the Breath within the object? If it's the second one, I think this could have some interesting implications/applications.

I hadn't noticed that when I checked, thank you for pointing it out. Is there any idea of what their new goal is?
-
I was wondering more along the lines of "If you put Nightblood on two braces, and then hammered it with an immensely heavy object, what would happen?". I didn't know whether being heavily Invested would affect the situation. As for rusting, I guessed that it would actively destroy an rust that formed, but I wanted to ask to see if anyone had a more solid answer.

Has there been any more news on the game? I've looked online, and on the Sanderson website, but I can only find that it has an "anticipate retail release date of April 2017". Since it is almost April, I was wondering if there has been anymore information about it.
-
I don't get it. Is there something I'm missing?

How tough is Nightblood? Does he only have the durability of a normal sword, or is he different because he is Invested? What would happen if someone did manage to break him? Minor side question: Can Nightblood rust?

Beginning or The End Challenge

Ben stared at his pudding. He was sure it had moved. He stared at it for a moment, before raising his spoon to dig in. "NO!" Shouted a voice. Ben turned to see his brother Nigel, who was looking at him frantically. "What is it?" he asked. "I'm pretty sure we have some more pudding in the fridge if you want some that badly." Nigel shook his head, and quickly snatched the bowl of pudding from Ben. "It's not that," He insisted, holding the bowl close. "This is my latest invention!' Ben stared at his brother quizzically for a moment. Then, after realizing his brother was serious, he placed a comforting hand on Nigel's shoulder. "I'm sorry brother," he explained. "They've already invented pudding". His brother shook his head. "This is different," Nigel insisted. "This," he exclaimed, holding the bowl aloft, "is Sentient Pudding!" He turned to his brother, cradling the bowl protectively. "It still has some kinks, but I know it will change the world." He started off in the direction of his bedroom or "lab" as he called it. "Good luck!" Ben called after his brother. Well, he thought turning back to the fridge, it's nice that he's having a new breakthrough. He froze as the thought hit him. A new breakthrough. He thought back to all of Nigel’s other “breakthroughs”. The Lawn-mower shoes. The Alarmed Clock. Octo-ducks. He shuddered at that last one. “Maybe I should check up on him, “ he muttered. Almost as if on cue, a crash came from Nigel’s room. Ben raced to his brother’s room, throwing open the door. He gaped, as Nigel’s room had gone from a tidy workshop to a gelatinous wasteland. In the center stood a towering creature made entirely of pudding. It held Nigel in one hand, and appeared to be in the middle of a villainous monologue. Nigel noticing Ben, smiled weakly. “Sorry, brother.” He wheezed. “Looks like I messed up again.” Ben shook his head. “It’s okay Nigel,” he assured Nigel, as the creature took notice of him. “It’ll be alright.” With grim determination Ben gripped his spoon, mentally preparing himself for what had to be done. Then with a fearsome cry, he threw himself at the creature, having to once again saving the world from his brother’s genius. ---------------------------------- "Three goats and an off-key accordion; that's my final offer" -

Are you referring to the spren that the Listeners/Parshendi bonded with? -
That was something I was also wondering about. We know that feruchemy can have affects on a person's body as a result of use (ex: the mention of bone growths for gold ferrings), but there has been no mention whether Steel herrings suffer from any physical side effects. It may be similar to how Bendalloy mistings may have slightly shorter lifespans.

It has been a while since I have read the story, and I don't have quick access to it, how was their machine like a coppercloud? -
Sounds interesting. The imagery is really is cool. How does this power manifest? Is it outwardly obvious when it does? If a terrormancer isn't using their powers can a person tell them apart from other people? Does this phobic energy only have a physical effect, or can a terromancer use this power to induce fear in others?

In Shadows of Self we see that f-steel gives the user some amount of mental speed, despite the fact that it stores physical speed. I haven't see an exact answer to why this is, besides how feruchemy doesn't harm the user, so this is my best guess. My theory is that it physically accelerates the chemical process in your brain, resulting in the increase in mental speed. The way I see it, if a feruchemist taps speed allowing them to move quickly, their body has to adapt to do internal processes quickly as well (heartbeat, blood flow, breathing, etc.). Following that logic, the synapses in a feruchemist's brain would be affected as well. Anyone have any alternate theories?

It sounds really interesting. Could you explain the mechanics of terromancy? Is this story along the lines of a mystery or something similar?

Will Brandon ever finish I Hate Dragons? It seemed like a very interesting story, and kind of gave me a DiscWorld feel. I know that he's busy with many of the Cosmere stories, as well as The Rithmatist, Apocalypse Guard, etc., but is there any word on whether he will ever revisit this world?

I made that mistake as well. Is there anything specific you would like people to address?

The cover looks awesome! It's cool to see Jasnah in action. Some other thoughts: How is Jasnah walking on floating stairs? Is she creating solid air? Slightly disappointed that we didn't get to see Szeth and Nightblood in action. Is she soulcasting the wall? I thought that soulcasting looked more lightningy. Thunderclasts are much larger than I thought they were. That's frightening. I couldn't help thinking to myself "That wall isn't going to even slow that monster down." All in all, this just makes me look forward to the book more. Is there going to be an Oathbringer Subforum?
