The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Elenion replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Who's this Adam Smith guy everyone is talking about? It was I who invented Capitalism, and named it after myself. Danger may be my middle name, but Capital is my last. Cassius Danger Capital, that's my name. Hence why I called it Capitalism, with a capital C. But hold on for a second: you knew about Capitalism! I'm famous! Drinks for everyone, on me! @Drake Marshall Before we get any further, I want to make it clear that I know about Adam Smith and the true origins of capitalism. It's Cassius who doesn't.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss

Although I strongly believe in atheist capitalism, I guess being a theistic capitalist wouldn't be that bad. After all, all that would mean would be that I was blessed. I just prefer to think that I've earned it all myself.- 1403 replies

Indeed. To visualize this, I think of the relationship between space and time is like a circle in the coordinate plane centered on the origin with a radius of c, where the x-axis is velocity and the y-axis is time. When you have absolutely 0 velocity through space (x), you would have the greatest speed through time (y) at exactly c. When you add a little velocity through space, you shift your point to the right along the circle, but in doing so you move slightly away from maximum speed through time. The more towards velocity through space you go, the more you affect your speed through time, until when your velocity through space becomes infinitely close to c, your speed through time becomes infinitely close to 0. Hope that helps, but it might just come out mumbo-jumbo-y. It's hard to explain, but it makes sense to me.

Ah, but good sir, you forgot that I informed Joe (HH) yesterday that I would be influencing him with Brass. Hey look, I found a picture of myself... But not my enemies. That's exactly what I was trying to say; you just said it a lot clearer. Interesting workaround with the walking pattern. Say you were doubling your speed, but wanted to keep the same amount of footsteps as usual in order to move quickly forwards, then you'd just have to halve the force with which you push off of the ground, because the acceleration is applied twice as often in regards to this example's unchanging gravity. Now I'm thinking: if you sped yourself up to 6x speed, you'd feel only 1/6 the gravity assuming it doesn't change, which would be comparable to running on the moon. *cue Googling about running speeds on the moon* Okay, while I don't have hard data, what I'm seeing is that if unencumbered by a spacesuit, you actually wouldn't lag too far behind a runner on Earth. So then the only problem a Steelrunner would have is that if they ever wanted to change their speed while in motion, they'd have to change their stride length to compensate in order to avoid doing a glorious super-speeded faceplant.

The problem here is what exactly constitutes a god to a given person. For those who believed that a divine entity was watching over them, increased knowledge of Realmatics would confirm their personal faith (e.g. Wax meeting Harmony). However, that same knowledge might conflict with the beliefs of someone who believes in a single omnipotent being, as they see that their presumed-deity is not the only one, and that there are evil deities just as powerful. Those with the latter belief would either give up their belief (as KereDerek speculates), or retain their belief that there is an omnipotent being, but that it is Beyond and allows Odium, etc. free reign as part of its master plan. Comments? Concerns?

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Elenion replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
My Conq vote was because of the Crusade. I retracted it once he posted, and put it on Dalinar and Soothed HH, which almost led to Dalinar being lynched D1. As for Lopen, I was wrong about him. I'm not exactly the best SE villager out there. An experienced elim would have vetoed any action against that many votes. Even if every Mistborn on their team had drawn Brass/Zinc it would be practically suicidal. "I'd like to introduce you both to a little something that I call Capitalism," Cassius said with a drink in his hand. "The idea behind Capitalism is this: you are in charge of your own destiny. No supernatural forces are meddling in my affairs, I'll tell you that. Everything that I've got," he gestured with an open hand, then pointed to himself, "is all due to this guy right here." "Capitalism? I think he accidentally took up Narcissism instead," said a smug man behind his back. A few people snickered, and Cassius shot them a look that would have killed a man but melted a woman's heart.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Elenion replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Of all the players in the game, why pick Matilda? It was obvious that she was a Thug, and there were more threatening targets out there (read: Arin). Fear of lurchers? Arin, who did you scan? *drunk after partying* Role-play? Whaddya mean role-play? I don't need any role-play to look good! Edited in later: Since it seems like no one else did the analysis that I recommended, I survived the night, and phase 2 of my Prom-posal is complete, I'll do the analysis myself. D1 Votes (before manip): Ecthelion (4)- Straw, Dalinar, Madagascar, HH (Soothed by Ecth) Dalinar (4)- Elenion, Arraenae, Ecthelion, Doc (Rioted. Nyali?) HH (2)- Seonid, Gamma Fiend Elbereth (1)- Drake Marshall Wonko (1)- Jondesu Lopen (1)- Araris Stink (1)- Stink Gamma Fiend (1)- Kipper I am Stick (1)- Wilson A Joe in the Bush (1)- Sart Elenion (1)- Elbereth Droughtbringer (1)- I am Stick Orlok (1)- Wyrmhero Nyali (1)- Arinian Sart (1)- Conquestor D4 Votes (before manip): Arraenae (10)- Assassin in Burgundy, Wyrmhero, Nyali, Herowannabe, Silverblade, Magestar, Doc12, Wilson, Joe in a Bush, Stick (Soothed by Len) Nyali (8)- Elenion, Jondesu, Arinian, Arraenae, Madagascar, Seonid, Sart, Elbereth Hemalurgic Headshot (1)- Manukos Jondesu (1)- Conquestor Manukos (1)- Hemalurgic Headshot Madagascar (1)- Gamma Fiend Also, has anyone else noticed that the elim kills are clearly going down the player list? I saw it before, but I thought it was a coincidence. Now, the evidence is weighted against it being just a coincidence. In addition, for reference, Arin so far has scanned Rae (Thug), Bugsy (Roleless), Matilda (Thug), Lopen (Lurcher), and Wonko (Thug) Looking at this information, here's my trusts/distrusts. 1 is good; 10 is bad. Assassin In Burgundy: Voted on Rae D4, but pretty quiet other than that. 6/10 Elenion: 1/10. Seonid: No good read. 5/10 A Joe in the Bush: Voted on Rae D4. 6/10 Jondesu: Thug with lost extra life. Voted on Nyali D4. 4/10 Manukos: Seems unwilling to participate in any large bandwagons. 5/10 I_Am_Stick: Voted on Rae D4. 6/10 Wyrmhero: Voted on Rae D4. 6/10 Herowannabe: Voted on Rae D4. 6/10 Arinian: Claimed Seeker; all claimed info has checked out so far. Trust him. 2/10 Conquestor: 5/10 Silverblade5: Less active; voted on Rae D4. 6/10 Magestar: Voted on Rae D4. 6/10 Arraenae: Scanned by Arin; Thug with lost extra life. 2/10 Hemalurgic_Headshot: Helped in the Ecth lynch. 6.5/10 Araris Valerian: Voted on Lopen D1, but that was D1 and Lopen was being a bit suspicious. 5/10 Droughtbringer: 5/10 Stink: You never know anything with Stink. 5/10 Drake Marshall: Suspected El D1. Next on the kill list if the elims are killing by the player list. 4.5/10 due to good gut read. Bugsy6912: Scanned as good and roleless by Arin. 2/10 Gamma Fiend: Negative gut read, but little else. 5.5/10 Little Wilson: There's the whole WGG? thing to consider. Voted on Rae D4. 5/10 due to conflicting gut reads on some posts. Sart: Voted on Nyali D4. 4/10 Orlok Tsubodai: Inactive. 5/10 Wonko the Sane: Scanned as good Thug by Arin. 2/10 Elbereth: No read. 5/10 Trusts: Arin, Rae, Bugsy, Wonko Tentative trusts: Jon, Drake, Sart Neutral: Seonid, Manukos, Conq, Araris, Drought, STINK, Wilson, Orlok, El Tentative distrusts: Assassin, Joe. Stick, Wyrm, Hero, SB, Mage, Gamma Distrusts: HH And finally, I put my vote on HH for helping in the Ecth lynch D1, and the elims chose to attempt a tie with Ecth instead of HH when they saved Dalinar. Who knew Cassius could be such a windbag? Maybe that well-muscled diaphragm of his had something to do with it.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Elenion replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I have no time to analyze right now (working on asking someone to prom), but I want to make sure that at least one person if not the whole village grabs the vote tally from the day that we lynched Rae and sees who defended Nyali then (not this last lynch because the elims probably bussed her, but back from when we lynched Rae). Cross-reference that with the list of players who defended Dalinar D1, (not D2 because again, bussing). If any elims overextended themselves to protect their teammates, that should sweep them up.- 1403 replies

That was before Rey (Typed Rae first. You know you're an SE player when... ) happened. Now that we've got 2 light-side force users, we've got a whole 'Will Luke die and Rey replace him? Or is Rey not going to be a Jedi?' thing going. -

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Elenion replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Full-claim time! I'm the Soother who's been doing most of the manipulation. Day 1 I manipped HH, but it looks like Ecth unluckily chose him too. Day 2 I shut Dalinar down because although I was originally opposed to lynching him, once I got on the wagon I didn't want him doing anything funky with his vote. Day 3 I blocked Lopen due to gut read. Day 4 I hit Stick to try to shift the vote off of Rae and onto Nyali. I just barely shut Assassin down for dissent from the Nyali vote. I tried to drop a hint to my moves earlier by running the 'implicated voter' thing: had another person done the same analysis they would have found that every cycle, without fail, I was implicated in a Soothing. Why claim now? Well, I helped nearly lynch Dalinar D1 and just now helped lynch Nyali. I've Soothed Dalinar and attempted to tip the lynch on Nyali early by Soothing Stick. This is probably the most cleared I'm going to get. And while I'm running the risk of death in doing so, I'm claiming because if I didn't and happened to die tonight, then you guys would be left in the dark as to what's been going on with the manipulations, leading to misinterpretations and mislynches. It is better for one man to out himself than for a whole village to dwindle in misinformation. Now that I've claimed: I can chip in a few things of analysis that I couldn't have before: 1. The elims have no consistent manipulation usage. The only manipping that wasn't me (that I noticed, at least) was that D2 nullification of Hero and that Rioting of Doc D1. This, along with Nyali's role, almost confirms that we're facing a team full of Mistborn. 2. The Rioting of Doc was most likely Nyali, because I know that the negation of HH's vote wasn't due to him Rioting anyone, while Nyali happened to not vote that day. Coincidence? I think not. Lurching me tonight would be appreciated, but I understand that some players like Arinian might be better targets to protect. I'm not afraid to die. Cassius' voice rang loudly and clearly over the town square. He felt a little ashamed inside: nobody wants to admit that their charisma and charm is mainly due to subtle Soothings instead of actual skill. If only he had been a Rioter... no. Now was not the time. He had a duty to fulfill: a duty that transcended both reputation and pride. Maybe even life itself. His duty was to save the lives of as many as he could, even if it meant giving up his own.- 1403 replies

@HerowannabeI don't mind at all. In fact, I enjoyed it quite a bit. I for one don't think attacking a Thug is a good use of time or lynches. Nyali may be female, but she at least has a chance of being Spiked.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Elenion replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hahahahaha! No need to apologize; Cassius was in need of some humility anyway. This'll be fun to RP. Seconds blended into minutes, and minutes into hours. Cassius stood on the rooftop, caught between scandalous behavior, medical quackery, and more scandalous behavior. Statue-like he stood, even as the sky began to brighten with dawn's approach. Sometime between then and dawn, he fell asleep, but was awakened rather abruptly when his legs were kicked to the side. His impeccable balance kept him upright, but his head jerked downwards, directly into an oncoming uppercut. That snapped his head back, but his body continued to fall forward, collapsing on top of an upraised knee as the weight of his own muscled biceps (and some assistance to the back of his neck) flung him to the ground. Reeling, he barely comprehended the foot that shattered his right forearm. He laid on the rooftop for a few blurred moments as a distorted conversation raged inside of his head. What hit me? That girl did. The one who you were trying to save. Her? I thought she was dying. Me too. We are the same person, after all. But what do you plan on doing with that arm of yours? Arm of mine? It's your arm, too. But what do you plan on doing with it? Eh, it'll heal in time. Leaving an attractive scar, of course. Fair enough. Mind in agreement, Cassius picked himself off of the roof with one arm, ignoring the pain and instead focusing on the more important task of getting something on other than a ripped robe. It seems like quite a lot happened while I was changing. First up appears to be Arinian's claiming to be a Friendly!Seeker. Because of Bugsy's test, I'm fairly sure that he's actually a Seeker, because the only alternative is that they're both Spiked, and I doubt the Spiked would be that blatant. Friendly is another question, but Arin's playstyle in previous games has been remarkably similar to my own when I started, and this game he's done exactly what Early!Len would have done in these situations: out himself before he gets offed at night by chance, and give out enough information that we waste no lynches on Wonko. I for one think it was good that he outed Wonko's role, just as I'd be fine with him outing my role if I was in Wonko's place. Right now it seems like we've got the Spiked in quite the conundrum: either they kill Arin tonight, clearing all of us here that he's scanned, or leave him be, allowing him to scan more players. He's like the bandage on my arm: they're going to have to get rid of him sometime, but when they do it might be painful. Since I trust Arin, now we need to look at who might be my competition the Rioter. I've got homework to do, but I might be on again before I go to bed. Might being the key word.- 1403 replies
