11 duos, eh? Let's get some discussion going: how many elims do you think there are? Three world make it 3 to 8 from the start, which no esta bueno. Two would make it 2 to 9, which seems a little more likely in my opinion. If I were balancing this game, I'd go 2 pairs of elims, but make sure that none of them are likely to go inactive. Thoughts?

@Amanuensis Nope. But if I was, that would have made for a pretty humorous move on Conq's part, making Ecth and I both elims. The player whom I've been watching has been Orlok. He seemed off to me when he accused me so quickly and aggressively, but the more I've scrutinized his posts the more village he seems. Last cycle I had a PM with Rand, and he was reading Orlok as village before Rand was killed, so I think my suspicions were unfounded.

I can confirm that the mapping problems happen on both my devices, one mobile and one desktop, so it isn't just you.

When you say copy and pasting, do you mean that you copied the meme itself, or the meme's web address? If the former, please try the workaround I suggested above. If the latter, this may be a larger problem than I thought.

Ech probably is raging in the dead doc right about now. Killed C1 again? At least he actually was evil this time. Okay, so in his short in-game life Ecth didn't do much. He voted on Phatt like everyone else, but did so early enough that it wasn't suspicious. Well played. He called Aman out as a possible Preservation using distancing tactics. Now what I think happened to Ecth is this: Ruin saw Ecth call Aman out for distancing, but that made it look like Ecth was trying to distance himself from being Preservation, so Ruin killed Ecth.

Guess that's the one benefit of being openly suspected by multiple people C1: suddenly people start knocking at your door asking your opinion on such-and-such player. I plan on letting the chick hatch tomorrow, since as of right now it's looking less and less like a cowbird egg by the post. (A cowbird lays its eggs in nests of other species, where it hatches early and eats the other eggs.)

@Amanuensis That information I'd prefer to keep with me, because that increases the chance that they'll slip. The more attention they get, the more they'll focus on their posts and the less likely they'll slip if they're an elim. However, to ensure my primary suspect's identity isn't lost if I'm killed, I have told it to a Kandra who PM-ed me and whom I have a good gut read on.

That's a little defensive there, HH. And... Orlok just posted calling HH out, with much better arguments than what I have. That saves me some trouble. But for discussion's sake, here's my two cents. Really, I don't find HH's bandwagoning to be a sign that he's an elim, but his unease just might be one. He made the same error as most of the rest of us, but expects to be targeted personally for it. That gives me an indication that he might have something to hide. He could be an elim. He could be Ruin or Preservation. He could be something else altogether. But something is making him antsy. Although, Orlok, I think that on a metagame level, there is a niche for bandwagoning. Bandwagoning early leads to what you said, an information drought, but bandwagoning very late in the Day, after all discussion is over, can be a viable countermeasure against vote manipulation. In this case, however, HH used unhelpful bandwagoning, so the point is moot.

"See you later. I've gotta go somewhere now." * * * * * * * * * * * "And she said what?!" "Please, Uncle, let me explain." "Brandir, I love you like you were my own son, but you're not Adolin Kholin. There is no infinite supply of women that would date you, even with your ties to me." "Why else do you think I invited her to dinner?" "Because you lost the last one, that's why. She told me the engagement was off, right after seeing the glint of metal out of her window one night." "That wasn't me, Uncle, that was Gaz using my telescope. You know that." "And I sent him off to the Shattered Plains because of it. But Brandir, it doesn't matter that it was Gaz. Everyone thinks it was you, and so for all intents and purposes it was you." Brandir stifled the retort that nearly burst out of his mouth, and responded with a meek, "Yes, Uncle." As Brandir strode out of the room, the lunch bell rang. He had to find that girl again.

As Mage pointed out, that's the third time Phatt has told everyone that he is going to start/continue discussion, but then hasn't followed through. While it's definitely possible that he's just busy, or distracted, or overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information that has popped up since his last post, that paranoid voice in my head keeps telling me that he's a Skaa that's trying to look like he wants discussion while he really doesn't. And since no other solid targets have appeared, although I admit that I have a couple people I'll be watching carefully, I'm finally going to drop my vote on Phatt.

Orlok, my view on Thugs is that they should remain unclaimed until the lynch hits them and they survive, not that they should claim and expect the lynch to dissipate. Lynches should be used on suspicions if they are strong and substantiated, but if they aren't then a lynch should be used on a true inactive who is making no contribution. In an ideal world that wouldn't be necessary, but I've seen too many games lost due to inactivity to just expect inactivity to fix itself.

I was scanning back over the thread and noticed that Phatt did post; I just missed it. And since we've already tagged the remaining inactives, voting on them is a moot point, unless they don't show up by the end of the Day. Here's my role advice. If you think there's a better way to play your role, go ahead and play it that way. This is intended to help newer players who aren't sure how to use their role to good effect: Preservation: Don't claim to anyone, even in PMs, because of Ruin's spying ability. Giving roles is beneficial as long as the role doesn't end up going to an elim, so while it's predictable I'd suggest keeping the roles among players that are generally trusted. Giving a role to yourself and then using it is also a viable option, but because of the action necessary to use the granted role you can only do that every other round. Ruin: Pretty self-explanatory. You can use PM scanning to find suspicious players and then kill them the next cycle, or you can play yourself as a vigilante and use your kill every round. Part-Skaa: I've run afoul of the unwritten SE rules regarding traitor roles before, so here's my tip: just play like a standard Noble unless you're converted. Metallurgist: Find a player with a powerful role (like Coinshot) and fuel them with as many vials as they need, stockpiling some for yourself until you find a player to fuel. If you can get a Kandra contact, I'd suggest role-swapping in order to find the best players to fuel. Kandra: Keep PMs up and going as much as possible. Information exchange is critical in coordinating actions, and in PMs coordination can be done where the Skaa can't listen in. TLR: Stockpile Feruchemical charges at the beginning of the game, when you're not as likely to be attacked, and then use them generously in the late-game. Focus primarily on storing protection actions and kills, because these are the most critical in the late game. Use Allomancy at your discretion. Assassins/Coinshots: If you have suspicions about a player, kill them. If you aren't sure who to kill and you don't want to run the risk of killing an active villager, killing in inactive is a safe bet because they aren't participating anyway. Hazekillers: Protect someone every night, focusing on players that are contributing. Because we heavily outnumber the Skaa, a 1 to 1 trade is good for us and bad for them. Lurcher: This only protects from the Steel kill, not the Skaa kill, so it's not as useful as most other protects. Still use it, but on players whom Kelsier might be tempted to use Steel on. Tineye: Scan actions every cycle, looking for players who have killed others. Then, contact them in PMs and ask for a role-claim. If they claim a role that's not a vigilante kill role, then they're a lying Skaa. If they claim vig-kill, keep a sharp eye on them. Even if you don't spot a kill, keep collecting information on who did what. Thug: This is probably best to use against lynches, because you know that they're coming. It's better to waste a lynch than lose a villager. The downside to this is Kelsier may false-claim Pewter to get justification for dodging the lynch, but I haven't thought of a better way to use Pewter. Soother/Rioter: Manipulate votes according to your own suspicions. If you aren't suspicious of anyone, manipulate a vote that doesn't matter in order to announce that you're there. Smoker: Copper is good to protect from elim vote-manip, but can also block village scans. Usually when I play Copper I Smoke someone every cycle, but I've seen multiple good strategies done with it in previous games. Seeker: This won't pick up elim-kills, but could be used in conjunction with a Metallurgist to set up a supply-chain. Just keep scanning people and collecting information. All Ferrings: Store attributes in the early-game where you're less likely to be attacked or hit an elim target, and then begin to use up your stores as the number of players dwindle. The exceptions are Zinc, Bronze, and Tin, whom I suggest store/tap every other round.

Orlok has a fair point in that we definitely do need to have some lynchings based on evidence, but I stand with Mage and Jon in that inactives have crippled previous games and so need to be dealt with in some manner. Maybe we could use the lynch to kill actives based on evidence, and encourage vigilante roles to target inactives if they have no better suspicions. Phatt still hasn't responded, so I'll leave my vote on him. Someone earlier made a conjecture about elim team size. I'm leaning toward there being three starting elims this game, because to attempt to convert a player Kelsier has to give up one of his metal actions, making it less likely that he'll be liberal with conversions. Three starting elims would give them decent voting and action power off the bat and if Kelsier died early, while leaving them room for team growth due to conversions if Kelsier survives into the late game.

How exactly are you putting them in? The way I do it is this: I post them to Facebook, but set the privacy settings to "only me". This stores the meme on Facebook's web servers. Then, I open the image to full size, right-click it, and hit copy image location. On 17th Shard, I use the add image from web address tool, paste that image location that I copied into the image address box, and it works like a charm.

Wait, we just killed Vin? That one Inquisitor just outperformed an entire army of Imperial stormtroopers. Looking over the player list, we have a lot of newer or less-active players in this game. While that isn't necessarily bad, it means that generating meaningful discussion might be more difficult than usual. I suggest that we run a strict Contribution Crusade this game in order to keep a base of active players late into the game when they're needed most. Tomorrow I hope to get a list of role-specific suggestions out. Poke vote time! SB are you watching the game? @Silverblade5

"I think that six-thirty would be best. Uncle usually eats at about seven, but since he's not expecting company I'm sure he'd appreciate a few minutes' notice. He's a very busy man." He leaned close and whispered, "My uncle's men will ensure that we're not followed.

@Arraenae "Hello, young lady! My name is Brandir Sebarial." The man who spoke was a tall, slender fellow about 19, wearing an expensive suit. His gaze was slightly-lopsided, as if he was used to looking with only one eye, but he appeared not to notice. "The Highprince is my uncle, so it's excellent to see another person of status in our most. I have to say that there are some rather strange characters lurking around these establishments."--he glanced at HARVEY and Thorot, the latter of whom was still picking his teeth with a dagger--"Would you be so kind as to join me for dinner tonight at my uncle's residence? It's not far, and I'll sure the company would be more to your taste."

I don't really like Lift as a character, and while the OP could have been stated better it does have a point. I'm upvoting it because I don't think any user should get that much bad rep from a poorly-phrased post.

Going from memory here... 1. Sounds good to me. 2. There is no point when a Vessel is so weak that they have to give up the Shard. 3. Leras had a connection to a physical body because he got into the Cognitive Realm by ascending. His body was incorporated into Preservation's cognitive form, much like Kelsier sees with Ati's body in Ruin. Most cognitive shadows don't have bodies because they got into the Cognitive Realm by dying. 4. We have a WoB that Shades are indeed Cognitive Shadows. We don't know as of yet why Silver of all things repels Shades. However, I don't think Brandon would make silver repel Preservation, because in an early draft of Mistborn silver was an allomantic metal instead of tin. It had to be switched because pewter is an alloy of tin, not silver. 5. You're nearly there. Because your theory has Secret History spoilers, it needs to be in the spoiler board for SH, which is a subforum off of this main Mistborn forum. You put a lot of effort into that research. Have an upvote!
