Lightweavers are the most powerful Radiant(WoR Spoilers)
Eki replied to KnightGradient's topic in Stormlight Archive
Right... I was thinking that 'regressing' would be the same as with Kaladin, where Pattern was left in an almost-dead state, until Shallan started renewing the bond again, at which point she went back to where she was before. It would make sense if Lightweavers work differently though (or maybe it did work the same for Kaladin, except he just implicitly renewed his old oaths when he swore the new one). Maybe, though, speaking the truths isn't so much about the actual truths, but rather about understanding and accepting yourself. The individual truths would then just be the 'focus points' of that understanding. Kind of like how the spirit of the other orders' oaths is more important than the actual words spoken, I guess. -
There are a few threads about creating energy using Investiture, and metalborn in particular. Using two iron ferrings on some kind of see-saw/elevator-like thing for example can fuel a generator. I'm not sure if we know what happens to burnt metal... I may have read somewhere that it just evaporates, not conserving energy, but that Scadrial has enough metal that it's not really a problem. I think some people have theorized that there is a fourth metallic power that creates metal, but I'm not sure I believe that myself.

[Theory]The Cognitive Realm and it's appearance.
Eki replied to Windborne Sword's topic in Cosmere Discussion
SH is only in e-book for now, so you should be able to buy that, if you want. I don't think SH will be released physically at all until Arcanum Unbounded later this year.- 27 replies

Lightweavers are the most powerful Radiant(WoR Spoilers)
Eki replied to KnightGradient's topic in Stormlight Archive
Does that mean she was afraid before her mother died, did she summon her blade at 'level one', or did she say the truth as her mother was trying to kill her? Also, I wonder what her last truth will be... Maybe the last truth is different, requiring the Radiant to reveal her truths to others, rather than to herself. -
Well, the Dragonmount scene was what made Rand change again. That was planned (and I think written) by Jordan. Rand being the way he is towards the later books (after his 'snap' especially, I forget which book that's in) is what drives many of the plot points in those books, so I'm not sure I agree that having Rand be unlikable and getting worse (not necessarily static, although I get where you're coming from) is a bad thing. That's why much of the focus is on other characters. I'm reading The Left Hand of Darkness, and I like it! It's going slow though, not sure why. It might just be that for this book, I've mainly read when I'm really tired, so I can't really get pulled in that far before I have to put the book down and go to sleep.

There is this one about all of Brandon's books (can contain various spoilers): http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/21433-theme-songs/page-8# I can't really think of a specific theme song for any character, but there are lots of Kaladin fight scenes that I think go with some instrumental metal.

This reminds me of (Mistborn spoilers) It could be a similar thing that Cultivation is doing to Odium, limiting his influence.

I have a theory that the guards aren't technically stopping the shardblades. It could be that the guards somehow pinch to the flat of the blade, in such a way that the edge never actually touches the metal. Pretty much how lastclapping works. They'd still be 'magical', since they change shape and would need to pinch really tightly to withstand the force of two blades clashing, but the metal itself wouldn't be what stopped the blade. Though if this was true it would be a hassle to put on the guards, so that would probably have been mentioned...
-
I think there was a WoB about the shardblade guards and aluminium, but I don't remember if it was RAFO'd or if we got some hint... Anyway, one reason might be that the guards are relics, and that no one knows how to make them anymore.

Recursion is kinda... Inverted iterations, in a way. You start at the goal and work towards the beginning, kind of. With iteration you go one step at a time, which fits better with a series.

Szeth and Screaming-Spren-Swords (spoiler-y ness)

Well, Scadrial doesn't have a moon...I don't think that was the answer you were looking for...

I guess you could call that an iterative series or something. This is pretty much what happens when you decide whether or not a point is inside the Mandelbrot set, except you generally only care about if the series tends to infinity, not about the actual series of numbers. I think the Buddhabrot uses all the numbers in the different series though... (up until the absolute value goes above 2 or something, I don't remember) Oh, and the Fibonacci series uses the last two outputs of the series to create every new one, but otherwise it also works like that.

That's an interesting point, but the Heralds were also tortured for like... thousands of years. I think that's more likely to have damaged their psyches.- 46 replies

The different series are supposed to be separate, so you can read them in any order (or skip some for that matter). There are tiny details you can learn between the different books, but nothing that would really count as spoilers, I think. That said, there are opinions about the preferred reading order, if you're planning on reading all the books anyway. I think it's mainly reading Words of Radiance after Warbreaker, but that's not really about spoilers. It's more about catching some easter eggs.

I believe most people think Kandra don't impersonate humans anymore, as of the W&W era. And they are supposed to be servants of Harmony, so I don't think people worry about them spying and such. The Set probably does, though. They might look for inconsistencies like that.

I suspect very few people know the limitations kandra have (in fact most people don't know kandra exist in the world of ash, I think). So a small change in someone's morning routine probably won't tip a normal servant off.

I guess that's how Rosharans (at least Athlethi) would see the Thrill too, so that seems to fit the Unmade theory.- 46 replies

I sure hope I don't lose 500 rep. That would be annoying.
