  1. Yeah, we don't know how that works. really... I don't even remember if Honorblades have gems. That said, we technically don't know if Jezrien is still alive. I'm assuming he is, but I don't think there's any confirmation. I think they did break the bonds, and that the simple reason why that's not mentioned is that Brandon didn't want to reveal too much about the mysterious nature of the Blades before they became relevant in the actual plot.
  2. Nice reference in the title I think it was the 17th sharders though, because I doubt Hoid can get sick. Now, it's possible that Hoid could carry a disease without actually being sick (see thread title), but I think his (most likely) improved immune system would deal with it regardless.
  3. Huh... I hadn't considered that the 17th shard could be post Harmony...
  4. I always figured he wouldn't have atium, but now that I think of it... If the Pits still exist and have reformed, they would be easy to access with worldhopping.
  5. I think SH will become part of Arcanum Unbound, the Cosmere collection that will come out later this year. Until then I think it will stay as an e-book. This is a very interesting question. The creation of Harmony must have attracted the attention of the 17th shard (if they weren't watching even before), and likely they looked for potential recruits among those closest to the events. It wouldn't surprise me if Breeze and the others were asked, or at least considered, as well. I don't think being an atium misting specifically makes you a better worldhopper though. Maybe people with more Investiture in general have an easier time, but not specifically those who can burn atium. Who knows, though?
  6. I believe W&W takes place somewhere between SA5 and SA6, which is only a span of a 10-15 years or so.Edit: ninja'd
  7. The 'official' story is that Allomancy in general has become more diluted in the population. Mistborn had become more and more rare even in the days of the Final Empire. The only reason there were as many Mistborn as there were, was that ten people a whole 1000 years ago had eaten lerasium beads and then got children. That power has been diluted since. There is also the possibility that Sazed changed something for some reason, but who knows?
  8. Right, that's what I gathered from wikipedia. v = lambda / f, and when light goes through a medium the wavelength and velocity decrease, but the frequency is unchanged. Frequency does however change in gravitational wells, for example. Like, if you fall into a black hole, one of the many things that will kill you is the onslaught of massively high frequency photons blasting you from behind.
  9. Odium seems to be invested in Braize now (he's said to be "trapped", and Desolations seem to be manifestations of his power on Roshar), but he may have been uninvested anywhere when he attacked Sel, which seems to be a long time ago.
  10. I think it might be energy rather than mass, actually. It would be a disaster regardless, but you know...
  11. I think there was some WoB that he got help from Autonomy (whose intent probably goes against both Dominion and Devotion)... Not sure though, I don't have a link to it.
  12. Well, light going through anything other than vacuum is complicated... Photons don't really slow down - anything without a rest mass will move at the speed of light. That's in fact what the speed of light really is - the speed things will go if mass doesn't slow them down. What's really happening is that the photon (which is an oscillation in the electromagnetic field) which is passing through the medium kind of... jiggles all the surrounding charged particles. When they jiggle, they send ripples through the electromagnetic field, and all of those ripples, together with the original photon, add up to something that pretty much works like a slower photon. So I guess that you really can say that light slows down, but the actual photons... are complicated. Sixty Symbols on Youtube has a video about it somewhere. Kind of a tangent, sorry (Also, wikipedia says that the wavelength does change when light slows down in a medium. I don't think the frequency does though)
  13. Would Straff leave Felt behind with Elend (he did, right?) if he was a kandra? And wouldn't he have left once Straff died at the end of WoA, since his contract would end?
  14. How long did Sazed have to store speed? Wasn't it quite a long time? If what Pathfinder says is true regarding the blood and stuff, speed would indeed be very slow to store, since you would slow down everything, including your heart rate and blood flow. That could get really dangerous.
  15. I like the concept of Ruin. The embodiment of entropy. I also like Taravangian, mostly because his condition is fascinating. Is the Stick a villain? I mean, don't get me wrong, the Stick is a good Stick, but in the one scene where we see it, it technically almost let Shallan die from cold (or perhaps saved her life, since one Stick completely turned into fire all at once would probably cause an explosion).
  16. Wasn't there a theory that the Halls are actually Yolen? Not sure if it holds up, but it would make sense, I think.
  17. I believe black is also the color of corrupted investiture, right? Like the stuff that comes out of Nightblood.
  18. Is Hoid more active around the time these stories take place, or has he been doing his thing since just after the shattering? I mean, we know Hoid hasn't literally lived through all of the years since the shattering, but we don't know why or how. And more things seem to happen with the shards now... So... was Hoid in some kind of slumber or time compressor for a long time, waiting for things to get interesting?
  19. I think it would make sense if Odium was freed at the end of SA5, and that it would be seen as a victory in the eyes of the Rosharans. (They don't know other worlds are in danger!) But if that's the case I don't know what the second half will deal with... I don't see Odium returning any time soon if he does leave.
  20. Oh, cool! I looked it up, it takes place in "the mountains south of the Southern Roughs".
  21. I sensed a sort of mutual respect between them in that scene, to be honest. Grudgingly from Jasnah's side, but still True enough!
  22. Almost all worldhoppers we've seen (and whose history we know) have been out of their age, so to speak. There's quite some time between most of the stories, I think. There are a few ways to get agelessness in the Cosmere, so it doesn't have to be time-hoppning. Could be though.
