  1. Hello! I hope you have a nice time here, and avoid the cookies!

    Ask Chaos Anything!

To be fair this kinda depends on the title. Professor? Sure. But Dark Lord of the Underworld? Probably ancient and unlikable.
  3. Oh, I see! Sorry! I do think a shard requires a Vessel to not be splintered though...
  4. But remember that Leras' body didn't appear in the Physical Realm (which seems to happen when a Vessel dies, like with Ati and Vin) until HoA - that implies that Leras really WAS alive - a small part of him. Not just his cognitive shadow. (I haven't read SH yet though)
  5. Do we even know if people had Breath at all before Vo? The way I understand it, being born with one isn't genetic, but rather about actually being born on Nalthis. So maybe Endowment started giving out Breath around the same time she started Returning people. Also, remember that Intent is important in many systems. It's likely that Ruin provided the intent for the first spikings, until people realised they received powers or heard God (ie Ruin) by having a spike, and tried to replicate it. But without Ruin, no one would 'accidentally' make a spike, since they would have to know about hemalurgy to begin with.
  6. Didn't someone ask Brandon for a Sazed quote from the last Mistborn trilogy, and Brandon wrote something like "You may have it"? Sounds like the shard, to me! Not sure how to find the source...
  7. Really? I must have completely misunderstood that then...
  8. Wasn't Amaram's blade different from either the one Kaladin won or Helaran's? I don't remember which one (Probably both!)... Amaram could have easily switched with a friend to cover his tracks though...
  9. Have two Iron Ferrings on separate sides of the pivot of a lever (a see-saw basically), connect it to a generator, and have them alternately fill and empty their metalminds, making the lever flip and the generator spin. This shouldn't actually take any extra power or resources other than keeping the Ferrings alive. They might get a bit dizzy though, but it should be possible to make a system on the same principle using elevators or something.
  10. Vasher mentioned Investiture or Investing when he taught Vivenna (and in SA of course), but he's a bit of a special case since he was cosmere aware. You Invest an object when you Awaken it, so I guess that's one subset of Investing there.
  11. The surges come from the spren, and we know Skybreakers have access to two. So they kind of have to have spren. The reason Nale killed Surgebinders was to stop a Desolation. But the True Desolation has arrived, so he might not have anything against them anymore. We'll have to see. My guess is that Szeth will start bonding with a spren, and leave Nale's version of the Skybreakers to join the KR one.
  12. Yep: http://www.purjogram.se/I mean, if it's the leek you want this isn't the best delivery method, I will grant you.
  13. If he could form a Nahel bond, which surges would be grant? The way I understand it, spren can grant surges because they are parts of/connected to Honor and Cultivation. Nightblood doesn't have that, so would he grant some Endowment surge? You could argue that it doesn't matter if he's of Endowment instead of the other shards, but he still doesn't match any of the ten surge combinations we know.
  14. Here in Sweden, we have a service that lets you send leeks to people, in a nice box and everything. Much better than flowers in my opinion.
  15. Probably the same forces that are working towards creating instant noodles.
  16. None as far as I know. But living shardblades glow. I think the only Radiant who owns plate is Renarin.
  17. Taravangian mentions how Helaran may have trained Shallan before he left, but I think that's all we haveBut yeah, him having a dead shardblade sounds like pretty good proof he was never a surgebinder, or that he had already abandoned his oaths. I don't think just dying would kill a bonded spren, because then there would be a lot more shardblades around. (This is all assuming the guy Kaladin killed really was Helaran, I don't think that's ever been 100% confirmed, right?)
  18. I think most of these are on the Coppermind with WoBs to back them up. For example, it mentions that people from Sel are Selish.
  19. I hope so too, but pretty much the whole reason the Listeners turned to their evil gods was because spren chose (?) to give their powers to humans instead of them, right? So I'm really curious about how it would happen...
  20. It might tell us things about the world itself though - specifically how the Everstorm affects the continent. I don't know if Brandon would find this being revealed earlier than SA3 a problem or not, but... Also, Dalinar has been in contact with the new Prime. Assuming Lift hangs around him in the short future, she will probably interact with the main characters in some way. Especially if Dalinar specifically asks about Surgebinders.
  21. Matrim is from The Wheel of Time.
  22. I haven't actually read Elantris yet, but I think all of those texts are written by Khriss. (Contains spoilers!)

    Injecting Metals

Because Mistborn have access to all powers. Maybe that means they can burn anything, but it might not always be safe or have an effect. If the way Mistings work is that they can only burn one metal (rather than only being able to access the power of it), then that would make them different. Note that I don't think this is the case, but Mistborn are a very special case in many ways.

    Injecting Metals

But he was Mistborn. Mistings might be different.
  25. I don't know if there's any merit to it, but what if a Nahel bond makes an opening in the soul, like a hemalurgic spike does? What if the Day of Recreance was when Honor was splintered, but that alone wasn't why the Knights abandoned their duties. Maybe Odium managed to use the hole to either take control of them, or at least nudge them towards the decision? Actually, since Honor managed to send Dalinar a vision of the Knights abandoning their shardblades, chances are he actually wasn't splintered yet at that point.
