    Hello!

Actually, there are quite a few books I have yet to read. I've only read the first five Mistborn books (getting BoM soon!), Stormlight and Warbreaker. I'm holding off on the shorter stuff until the anthology, but I'll probably get to Elantris before then. In general I tend to like second world fantasy the most, but I don't read that much. I like programming, but that's also something I don't do as much as I'd like. Mostly only for school right now. Also, I am very good at Minesweeper, in my own humble opinion.
  2. Yeah... For all the good he did trying to keep the world alive, I really don't see how any of it would require such brutality, or even slavery at all. I think the characters go a bit easy on him because the world is ending, and they realize he had prepared for something like that to happen. Compared to saving the world from destruction, random executions aren't that bad. Still, I think they're too kind. He WAS a cremhole. I think part of it was his own personality - he does seem pretty aggressive in Alendi's descriptions. But it's also implied (maybe even explicitly stated? Pretty sure there's a WoB at least) that at least some of his skin-piercing metalminds were hemalurgic spikes. Not sure how much he actually knew about what Ruin was doing to him.
  3. You're right... I do think some other place really does explicitly mention more storms though. Or maybe it was just the lower frequency of the Everstorm that threw my thinking off.
  4. The coppermind says that WoR chapter 87 mentions more highstorms. I can't look the exact quote up right now.
  5. If it's not a flashback sequence, it has to be somewhat limited though. Presumably, there's almost no break between books 2 and 3, since so much is going on. If it takes place during book 2, it can't span that much time, and if it takes place during the beginning of book 3, it probably can't mention too much about what's happening in the world, since that would spoil the main book. Then again, I can't see Lift caring much about international politics at the moment, so maybe that's not an issue
  6. The stormwardens think there are lots of storms, going around the globe all the time. We don't know if that's true, or if it's really the Stormfather who keeps making new ones all the time. Since highstorms change in frequency over the year, and because the Weeping is a thing, it's pretty likely that the Stormfather does something at least. We do know that the Everstorm goes around the globe - it will come regularly, but at a lower frequency than normal highstorms. This sounds like all the storms go around the globe, but since the Everstorm is alone, it comes less frequently. But yeah, unless the Stormfather does something about it, there's an extra storm. Not sure how much of an impact that does, it depends on how many other storms there were to begin with.
  7. If you mean shardblade, then yeah. His eyes became brighter because of his connection to a (dead) spren (presumably). I think that change is passed down genetically as well, but it's possible that some just started out with blue/green eyes, without any ancestors owning shardblades or being Radiants. (Although, since it's been so long, most people are probably related to Radiants one way or another) Like AliasSheep said, the Heralds don't all have bright eyes. The Vorin peoples assume they do, but that's because of their bias, not the other way around. (I think people do have bright eyes while they have an honorblade summoned, but I'm not sure.) I think it has much to do with shardblades though. People with shardblades were lighteyes, and had more power, so they decided they were better than others.
  8. I think darkeyes DO have normal eyes, and so do most lighteyes. Some lighteyes seem to have gotten their eye color from some sort of connection to shards or spren (and maybe those are extra shiny eyes? I dunno), but other than that, I think they're all just normal eyes. Remember that the story is told through the eyes (!) of people who live in the world. What they call "darkeyes", we would probably just call "people with eyes in different shades of brown". I may be wrong though, and maybe there really is more to it.
  9. I haven't read Secret History yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if the answer is there. If Ati's cognitive shadow IS still around, would he start regaining his old personality, or just keep being affected by Ruin's Intent?
  10. Oh right, the spikes. Forgot about those...

    Hello!

I guess I'm just a very careful person who doesn't want to risk accidentally eating any raisins.
  12. Lift will run away. Then, assuming none of the unaging people survive, she'll outlive the rest by skillfully being younger than all the others. To be fair there are quite a few people who don't age in there, but still...
  13. Hm... To me it would make more sense to have a Lift story between the two arcs, since she's young and bound to have lots of things happening to her during those years. (Unless this is a prequel, which I highly doubt considering she'll have a whole set of flashbacks in one book.) So I wonder what it will be about... If we assume it takes place around the end of WoR, or right after, it might deal with that boy who became Prime, and how they deal with the Everstorm... It might even be about her becoming an official Knight Radiant, since I think Dalinar sent out a message about wanting to find them (or did he?). I'm really excited for the whole anthology honestly. I haven't read any of the short stories at all. Will Secret History be in that collection too?
  14. Wow, the way I imagine flying with double iron is crazy... You'd need some serious practice But the amount of iron people need is very, very little compared to what you probably burn using Allomancy. And if you DID use all the iron from your food, you'd likely get anemia... Actually, that would be a pretty cool detail to know about. Do many Lurchers tend to get anemia, if they burn too much of their iron before going to bed at night?
  15. I have this theory that the stick is a stick...
  16. (I haven't read SH yet) I think Preservation chose Vin as someone who could absorb the mists to Ascend, and being able to absorb the mists to fuel Allomancy was just a side effect. Kind of. From that point of view, Preservation didn't directly help Vin kill Rashek, he only gave her the tool (long before she actually used it). Preservation needed a new person to hold the shard, someone who could use the power to kill Ruin, right? So even if TLR stood against Ruin, Preservation still needed (or wanted) someone who could Ascend with the mists. Edit: Yata got there before me
  17. Unless they found some instructions, I doubt they could make practical use of hemalurgy. Any one test would kill the victim, and you'd have to use someone with actual powers to make it useful. Even if they COULD do research about it, I doubt they would, for ethical reasons. (Well, some people would have no qualms about it, but the general population would) But that's a separate question I guess...
  18. When Harmony said there were two more metals, it's assumed he meant the base metals - the other two are alloys. (Brandon may have written it that way to not make it TOO obvious that atium and malatium weren't the temporal metals)
  19. Remember that you can read Warbreaker for free on Brandon's website, if you're low on money!
  20. Do we actually know that atium mistings can't be naturally born? (We never see any malatium mistings, and pretty much no one knows that the 'eleventh metal' was malatium, or anything) We know that metals unknown to Harmony (probably a god metal) can interact with hemalurgy, so why wouldn't atium naturally be able to interact with Allomancy, changing which mistings exist? Especially if both Ruin and Preservation are Invested in the same world. I can buy that Preservation did something special with the mistfallen, but what about Yomen (the obligator king)? I don't think Preservation so much changed the Allomantic table, but instead used people's ignorance for good, going along with the misunderstanding. If I'm right, there should still be Seers out there in the AoL era, who will never know they are Mistings, since there's no atium around...
  21. There is number 32 here: http://theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=727 (don't know how to link directly, sorry!)It says Harmony healed all physical and genetic ailments, but that wouldn't wipe out the diseases completely.
  22. Hello! Avoid any cookies people try to give you. Some evil people tend to put raisins in them.
  23. I'm pretty sure humans made those tables, not Preservation (and malatium was never generally known to the public). That said, Harmony changed Snapping, for example. So you're right that they can do some things.
  24. Honestly, probably Shinovar. There have been hints that the Shin culture might not be exactly what we've seen of them so far, but still. Practically no highstorms? Soil? Who could ask for a better place to live?
  25. Well, Nale DID seem to have an unnatural skill at finding guilty surgebinders. If that's him being a Skybreaker, or just being extremely experienced... Who knows.
