  1. I'm guessing much of it is just xenophobia. I don't think we've heard much about them interacting with humans at all.
  2. Wait... I thought Khriss wasn't an actual member of the 17th Shard? That she was more of a... freelancer, so to speak. Maybe that's a more recent development of her character... Not sure what you mean by the blurb at the end of Way of Kings... If you mean the Ars Arcanum, then yes. But if you mean the Endnote, that one is already signed by a native scholar. Unless you mean the actual text on the back of the book, in which case I'd say it isn't really an in-universe text, unlike the others.
  3. This might be a good place to remind people that there's also an irc channel! #cosmere on freenode, I believe. There's a webchat feature somewhere in the menus I think, but i can't see it on mobile. I've heard many good things about discord though, lots of people use it for gaming and stuff. I'll look into it, once I have a decent computer again.
  4. You can change the activity filter to your preferences, then save it as your default feed. I'm pretty sure my current settings only show one item per thread.
  5. I think the question was the opposite: can a shardblade withstand Nightblood?
  6. He's still Returned, which at least gives him access to the Fifth Heightening. I'm not quite sure about the effects of suppressing the Divine Breath though. He could have refined his methods to be able to suppress his outward appearance without losing some of the powers. But you make a good point, and you're probably right.
  7. We actually don't know if Vasher has tons of Breaths anymore. He has found a way to sustain himself on Stormlight. I'm guessing he does have Breaths in case of emergencies, but for now we don't know. Actually I think Nightblood might need investiture to stay conscious (I think Lifeless need new Breaths sometimes in order to stay fresh, so other BioChromatic entities probably do too), but it's so little compared to what he already has, so it doesn't really matter.

Very serious question: which sword skin in GW2 do you think most resembles a shardblade? I think maybe the fractal sword, but it kind of looks like a shardblade being perpetually summoned.
  9. Yeah, it follows a lunar calendar, which effectively means it moves around the solar calendar most people are familiar with.
  10. I've heard that in 'impossible' situations, some choose to use the time in Mecca rather than the local time as a reference. I don't know if that's widespread, or even true, but...
  11. Well... Fabrials don't require oaths, and neither do the Honorblades. The oaths seem more connected to the (sentient) spren (who definitely have much to do with Honor) than magic in general.
  12. Vasher and that old grumpy Zahel seem very similar... Not to mention Hoid, Hoid, Hoid, Hoid and Hoid.
  13. This should be in the Bands of Mourning spoiler board. The Mistborn series is supposed to advance in technology; the last trilogy will be a space opera, after all. This was a bit of a jump, true, but that's because the characters made contact with a new civilisation, with different technology. So I guess it does feel a bit out of place, but that's natural.

  15. Adonalsium.
  16. Same reason no one dual wields normal swords: it's not very good. Even if you did use the swords well one handed, you can't swing both at the same time, or anything. Of course, shardblades are a bit different from normal swords, but I can't really see any situation where an extra sword would give more benefit than an empty shardplate hand or a shield.
  17. If the notification comes from the browser, then you can choose "Never give me notifications" or something - it's asking every time because you didn't give an answer. This is how it was for me, at least. If that doesn't help, that seems like a problem about the browser rather than the site. If it comes from the site itself in some way, I don't know what it is.
  18. It's likely Ash was born before Jezrien became a Herald though (assuming all ten became Heralds at the same time), so we technically don't know if that means Heralds can get children.
  19. I don't think this would really make people mark their spoilers better. If people think about it, they'll do as @CaptainRyan described, but if they don't, they won't use the neater system either. Unless there's some explicit reminder.
  20. I don't think we even know if they were copperminds or not, do we? They could just be unlocked metalminds of different sorts.
  21. The Vorin myths kind of imply that humans were brought, by Honor (and maybe Cultivation), to the planet. Where they were before then, we don't know. We also don't know if there were people there already, when the new people were brought there. I don't think they were created by either Honor or Cultivation. Odium probably arrived after Honor and Cultivation, since he was doing other things in the Cosmere (ie splintering other shards), but where that happens in the timeline, who knows. It's also possible that the Vorin myths are even more true, and Odium was on their heels as they escaped to Roshar, and that they (and their humans) lived somewhere else for a long time.
  22. Only the ones that were bound to Radiants at the time of the Recreance. I don't think there's any evidence that Syl was 'born' after the Recreance.
  23. Yeah, shardblades are pretty much spren that were killed when a Knight broke their oath. I guess the idea is that spren give up a lot of themselves to the Radiant (and the Radiant in turn expands their consciousness in the Physical Realm, among other things) in order to form the bond, and when the bond snaps due to oathbreaking, they can't continue 'living' as they did before. Because the bond between Knights and spren was somehow based on the Honorblades, the spren reverted to blade form. You can't really kill a spren completely though, and when the blade is summoned, the spren come back alive just a tiny bit. Radiants are open to hearing the screams of the spren when that happens. Plate does not suffer from the screaming. Renarin wears plate without problem, and Kaladin uses a plate helmet as a glove. There are theories that shardplate is made out of non-sentient spren, and doesn't depend on oaths. (One reason given is that windspren tend to flow around Kaladin, but that could just be that he makes a lot of wind. So to speak.)
  24. I guess you already know to avoid the cookies, huh?
  25. I'm always excited about Pokémon. I haven't decided if I should try to stay away from information about the new games yet though, so I didn't watch that part of the presentation that closely. I haven't seen the other presentations either, but Horizon Zero Dawn seems very good, from what I saw last year. People still seem excited about it, so I guess what they showed this year was good too? I'll check it out later. If they manage the lore of that game well, I think it will turn out absolutely fantastic. Not sure if I want to get a new console just for that game though...
