  1. Bavadin as a Dysian Aimian would certainly be interesting. The biggest problem is that Dysian Aimians seems to be native to Roshar. In order to take part in the Shattering, she would have had to worldhop to Yolen without surges or perpendicularities... unless Adonalsium had a perpendicularity on Roshar.
  2. @hoiditthroughthegrapevine I'm glad you liked it. The version of the song you have there is good, no worries.
  3. It is an interesting thought, but she does seem to be a herdazian, which means that she is native to Roshar.
  4. I thought of Les Miserables too, and I figured Nale should be Javert. So I rewrote the "Stars" song a bit: STORMS performed by Nalan'Elin, Herald of Justice There, out on Roshar A radiant running Without Honor Cause Honor is dead Ishar be my witness I never shall yield Till I've slaughtered them all Till I've slaughtered them all They know their way, with the surges Mine is the way of the law Those who follow the path of the Skybreakers, shall have their reward And if they fail, as the old Radiants failed The Blades The spren! Storms In your multitudes Scarce to be counted Fueling our magic With stormin light I am the sentinel With a cool Blade Keeping watch on Roshar Keeping watch on Roshar
  5. Thanks. I somehow forgot about him.
  6. I like the ideas of Navani and Taravangian. I guess Thaidakar or Restares are possible as well. Or Ishar, if he wants to do a Nale.
  7. You sure you didn't mistake me for Calderis? :-D Thanks though. You, on the other hand, are (apart from ruling all nathrangs) known for gaining a high post-count very quickly, and for being a nice and enjoyable presence on the Shard.
  8. Posting OB reaction topics quicker than Mestiv.
  9. Characters I don't like: Jasnah. I discussed this at lenght in another thread, and good points came up, but I still don't like her much. Spook. His growth felt unnatural and undeserved. Lift can be too much at times, but I don't dislike her.
  10. The Heralds didn't need spheres, so I'd be surprised if powerful Radiants didn't. Not needing spheres feels like "Heralds only".
  11. I still wish Brandon would have kept him alive though. He was intriguing and I liked him. Before OB, I had one character in each of the three major Secret Societies whom I was really interested in. After OB, Mraize is the only one of them who still lives
  12. We need a major good-guy Bondsmith, at least for a while. The "uniting Roshar" arc isn't over yet either, and I also see him facing off against Ishar in the future. As for deaths, Elhokar, Eshonai and Amaram were all major, and we also had minor deaths like Graves, Sah and Beard.
  13. It wouldn't surprise me if Moash gets some new cool powers from Odium. Rayse seems to be a plan for him. He killed Jezrien and got a new name. I expect him to get some new powers as well.
  14. So you mean Mraize got lucky with the loot boxes?
  15. Amaram seemed to have access to a lot of surges, not only Skybreaker ones.
  16. I bind the surges!
  17. He has to have beaten some bosses at least, considering all the Epic Loot he has: Aviar, Royal Locks, someones hairpins, slippers...
  18. He can just blame Szeth on Taravangian, and throw the attention over to him. Plot twist: Olivia Pope did Amarams PR.
  19. The most interesting thing to me (except Nale, who is always interesting) is Ishar. What is his madness? He seems to be setting himself up as god, and seems to kind of believe that he is one too. Either he wants to unite like Dalinar, but in a very twisted way (considering that he is the Bondsmith Herald, I can totally see this). Or he wants to kill everyone. I can´t really see what good that would do, except end everyones suffering earlier... Also, wonder why he hasn´t gone back for his Blade? Feels like he would like to have it, considering that he thinks that he is god.
  20. Dunno. It is taken as a fact enough to be stated on the Coppermind.
  21. I defended Elhokar far before Oathbringer (I had some great conversations with maxal on the topic) and so I will defend him now as well. To start with, as you say, Elhokar is the average joe, pretty much. Dalinar, Gavilar, Navani, Adolin, Jasnah, Sadeas... they are all formidable, and he is not. We all know the Alethi, especially the Alethi lighteyes. We know what the ideal looks like. Glory, power and all that jazz. Elhokar isn´t a particularly strong individual. The fact that he was swept along by the current and started wishing for more glory, more power, and more jazz than he already had, is nothing strange. And the fact that he grew up to be weak enough isn´t strange either, and can´t hardly be something we blame him for. Not all people will be strong like Kaladin or Dalinar. And for someone with Elhokars mindset, the jealousy and the fact that he cares a lot about how others see him isn´t particularly surprising. When you add in the strong belief in the Almighty (Elhokar once asks why the Almighty would give him a crown if he is unfit for it), and the knowledge that he keeps on failing, you have a pretty tragic character. Then we have the faked assassination attempts. I think you are reading those wrong. Elhokar is paranoid. I don´t know much about paranoia, but I do know a lot about being afraid, and those things are related. Elhokar is legitimately worried for his safety, and wishes to test his allies. I don´t think it has to do with Dalinar being right all the time, and more with the fact that Elhokar is seriously scared. As for the genocide, we all like Dalinar, and he was in on that as well, until the Almighty himself told him to focus on more important stuff... and remember, the Dalinar who was into the Vengeance Pact was the Dalinar who followed Codes and read The Way of Kings, not the bloodthirsty one. Jasnah and Adolin didn´t see anything wrong with it either, and both are well liked. Elhokar kicked it off, yeah, but the others never told him not to do it, or tried to usher for peace (until the Stormfather started his own cable TV in Dalinars head). When it comes to being a better king... yes, Elhokar is doing that out of selfish reasons. However, I do think he cares about his people as well, and I doubt he realizes how wrong it is to be focused on personal glory. I also want to point out a small but significant thing: Elhokar gave darkeyes a place in the arena, to watch duels, at the expense of lighteyes. This wasn´t the most popular decision he could have made (to be fair though, he might have done it to be liked by the darkeyes). When it comes to his actions in Oathbringer... he has realized his faults. I don´t think you can judge him for wanting to help or defend his wife. He simply believes that the Unmade has corrupted her, and that she needs to be saved (and he is kind of right, even though Aesudan might be beyond saving at this point). I wouldn´t blame him too much for trying to stay with Aesudan either, Again, he is shocked and wants to help her, and when he realizes that it won´t work, he leaves. I wouldn´t consider it a biggie. So, tl;dr, I like Elhokar (I have always been fond of him), and I do think that he had been worthy of a redemption arc.
  22. @Hiadin Haloun @kmosiman Mraize is Thaylen. We have Peters word on it. Good thinking though, Hiadin :-)
  23. I might be misremembering, but the Maib interlude (I think she is called Maib, she is Mraizes washerwoman), took place in Vedenar. And Mraize was there. So... did he sneak away with the Oathgate, or does he have other means of travel?
