  1. The Elsecallers like logic. What about: "I will never miss a single math lesson, even if I'm very sick." Jokes aside, "I will base my actions upon the facts I know of" sounds logical enough.
  2. And flashback Dalinar is actually Tonk Fah. Hard to spot, that one.
  3. I don't think Adolin would turn on his loved ones. Even he learns of how Dalinar killed Evi, and hates him because of it (not that likely) he will still not want to turn against his beloved brother, the woman he loves, his best friend, or any other family members because of it. Moash is very likely, and is certainly being built up to be a villain. I'll also drop some odd names here for the sake of conversation: -Nale, who is a mad Herald, obsessed with justice. He will follow the law of the land, and thus fight for the Voidbringers. -Ishar, another mad Herald, thinks that he is a god. -Eshonais spirit. Just because. -Jasnah, since no one would see it coming.
  4. I doubt that Torol or Ialai were involved. Remember: the Sons of Honor are deeply religious. Amaram and Gavilar are known to be devout Vorin followers. Aesudan worried a lot about the Almighty before her fateful encounter with Yelig-Nar. Restares is presumed by many to be an official within the Vorin Church (there is an interesting theory about Aesudan being his daughter). The Sadeases aren't religious at all. Mraize also doubts that they are part of a secret society, and he seems to know the Sons of Honor quite well. Personally, I think the last woman could be a Herald in disguise. Vedel and Chana are uncounted for.
  5. I am at book 5, and I can't stand them. It seems like they are looking down on everyone, and behaves like they know everything. They behave like crem this far, in my opinion.
  6. I don't think Odium is interested in destroying random desolate planets. He wants to kill Shards, and maybe humans/other sentient kinds of people. Uninhabitable planets doesn't interest him. Otherwise, this is an interesting idea. I doubt Odium would steamroll everything though. Scadrial might be able to put up a good fight, thanks to Harmonys power, the powerful magic, and tech far above what Roshar can access. Similarly, Elantrians are very powerful. If Odium started a Cosmere-wide war, I think some Shards and worldhopper would ally and prepare the Shardworlds to defend themselves.
  7. @Firerust Those are great! It is really interesting to see how we picture the characters. Really like your Ati (and your Inquisitor. How did you manage the spikes?). I have more Miis too. I'll upload them later.
  8. Thanks! I connected more with the characters in Covenant (especially Captain Oram). I didn't care much for most of the people in Aliens, except Hicks.
  9. I look forward to seeing your miis. They'll probably be better than mine :-)
  10. I just reread the Ellista Interlude, which, apart from the fact that it is fun, also ends interestingly. One of the ardents is employed by someone to translate and deliver Dawnchant. This someone has given the ardent a strict deadline. Who could this person be? I think it sounds Ghostbloody, but what are your thoughts?
  11. I own a 3DS, and sometimes I entertain myself with creating Mii versions of fictional characters, and mostly of Cosmere-characters. I thought I'd share some pictures (if anyone else has their own Miis, you can show them off as well). Here we go: Jasnah and Szeth Mraize (without scars) and Shallan Adolin and Amaram Rysn, Shalash and Moash (flipped over a bit): Will probably upload some non-SA ones later as well. Whaddaya guys think?
  12. @Matt OInteresting stuff! I second the Graves thing though. Graves is a real name I believe, and can be found in different franchises (Percival Graves in Fantastic Beasts is another example). I doubt Hearthstone is Sanderson-inspired either. Hearthstones has been an item in WoW since 2006 or something, I think. It is basically a method for fast-travel, and they named the card game after that.
  13. Straff. Sadeas did a couple of good/brave/selfless things that we know of, and was a good friend once. He risked his life in a brave attempt to save Gavilar from Szeth. Straff hasn't done anything like that. He wouldn't either. He would defenitely be willing to commit the same kinds of crimes as Sadeas though. So Sadeas > Straff
  14. Not really. Every Radiant has been cracked this far, and they have bonded spren, snd still have got their issues. Nale is a great example. He has cracks, and is insane (he can't feel feelings), but he is still bonded to a Highspren. The bond hasn't cured Nales madness, and so I doubt it will cure Ashs.
  15. Agree. I still like Amaram, and I'm okay with what happened to him in OB, but I can't help but feel that the entire sequence with him during Thaylen City would have been much more epic if we got a scene showing how Odium broke him, and how he realized his gods were a lie. It would have added so much to his character.

  17. I know that most SA antagonists/villains get their fair share of hate (Sadeas, Moash and Amaram aren't really popular) but I was wondering if there are antagonists who people like/enjoy/support? Who, in that case?
  18. Obrodai is probably a new place. Maybe the Aether of Night world? I don't think that planet has a name yet.
  19. Heal Nightwielder, hurt regalia 2. Nightwielder - 6 3. Regalia - 1 4. Fortuity - 5 7. Obliteration - 9 8. Sourcefield - 5 9. Conflux - 6 11. Firefight (Fire epic version) - 6 12. 20. Hah. It was a joke, so not really. Ryan Reynolds would clearly be Lopen, if he was in SA.
  21. Yeah, I see your point. Might be that Bran never learned that much of prophecies, and more of the heroic Targaryen knights or something.
  22. So, this might be a controversial topic. Since the 17th Shard is the nicest place on internet, I think we can handle it, but if the mods disagree, they can close this. Anyway, what do you all think about changing the genders, ethnicities, etc for characters in fiction, when adapting the source material? For example, the cast for the Artemis Fowl movie was announced today, and they gender-changed commander Root from male to female (Judi Dench will play him/her). Another example is when people got mad about the casting of Iron Fist, because it was promoting bad tropes and was whitewashing. What is everyones opinion on stuff like this? Good? Bad? Depends on the situation?
  23. To be fair, Bran never read Genesis.
  24. For being the thirteenth one of us to not have a name (who are the other twelve?)
  25. I'm Kalads Phantom of the opera.
