When I read the final Kaladin scenes, I felt like Brandon had read some of my posts on here, and taken them into account when writing OB (I know that didn't happen, but it felt like it). I have said it time and time again: we can't have Kaladin turning into Ashs Pikachu, and always wind up saving the day. He needs to be saved himself. And he was. One of the best things with the Amaram boss fight was that Kaladin got to do something important, but also something that wasn't more important than what Dalinar or Szeth or Renarin, or anyone else, was doing. He didn't stand out as much as usual, and the fixes my problems with his character. I also liked that he was saved there, at the end. It worked really well. So I am quite happy with Kaladins arc in OB.

If Nahel bonds can grant Shardbows with unlimited arrow supply... well, Odium should count himself lucky that Legolas ain't in the Cosmere...
-
There will probably be more in the future. We have hints of other Shardworlds, and some things, such as Dark One or Aether of Night has been mentioned as things that might be Cosmere, and might be done in the future. In addition, we have a bunch of unknown Shards, and most Shards are creating magic systems.

Don't know if anyone has noticed this before, but we have to characters named Red in the Cosmere. One is SA-Red, one of Shallans deserters. The other one is a boatsman who Wayne rides with in SoS. Wayne pays him with stories, which is peculiar. Anyone who thinks that the two are the same person?

[OB] The problem with Adolin
Toaster Retribution replied to SomeRandomPeasant's topic in Stormlight Archive
I really like Adolin. He is a nice guy, even to those who are far beneath him in social status (prostitutes and stable boys), and went to prison with Kaladin because it was the right thing to do. I also like the fact that he is not at all as secure as he pretends to be, and the fact that he has problems with creating close relationships (both with friends and with girls). I am fond of the fact that he has to face being normal in a world where everyone he knows is a magical superbadass. I like how manages to put up a fight against Thunderclasts and Fused even though he lacks magic. I am amazed at how he is constantly willing to risk his life against huge odds, because it has to be done. I am more impressed when Adolin rushes into battle against a Thunderclast than when Kaladin fights Szeth or Amaram. Kaladin is in the same league as the people he fights, but Adolin isn't. He does it anyway, without hesitation, because it is right. He is the guy who keeps himself strong, so that others can be allowed time to be weak. I don't think that everyone has to have a huge amount of mental problems, or dark struggles in the past. Sometimes, they can just be good guys who you can look up to, with more "normal" issues.- 69 replies

I understood the first sentence, but you lost me after that. You might be using the wrong APA referencing :-) -
(OB) Most Disliked Stormlight Character

I hoped it would work since there is multiple choice, but if that isn't the case, I don't know. I apologize for the poll being stormed up. -
[OB] Patji is... what!!!
Toaster Retribution replied to MonsterMetroid's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It should be Bavadin. It fits well with her "taking over religions" idea as well. If I remember correctly, Patji was basically seen as a god by Dusk. Does this mean that Bavadin is alive during Sixth of the Dusk though? That would be quite the spoiler, and should in that case mean that Bavadin might be one of the major players at the end of the Cosmere. -

I know, I accidentally removed it. Not on purpose. -
(OB) Most Disliked Stormlight Character

I have now updated the poll and added Taravangian, Lift, and Adolin. -
Nope, I refer to an old joke by Brandons assistant Peter, who said that Vivenna was an invested black hole.

(OB) Most Disliked Stormlight Character
Toaster Retribution replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
@FuzzyWordsmith I chose the poll simply because I was interested in seeing who the most hated character really is (looks like its Moash by a mile). @aemetha Huh. I considered adding Lift, but I have never felt that Adolin is hated. I know that some are upset about the love triangle, and that some "don't get the hype". Would you mind explaining why Adolin is fake? That is an interpretation of the character which I haven't seen before. -
A bunch of characters are pretty unpopular on here, but I want to see who takes the crown. I put some of the most hated on ones in a poll. So, vote for your least favorite!

(OB) Lets Talk Moash
Toaster Retribution replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
I should clarify as well: I really don't want to call people evil. Sauron is evil. Voldemort is evil. Straff Venture is also evil. But I think that people are generally too complex to be called evil. I don't think I would call any SA character evil (maaaaybe Sadeas, but it is debateable). As for Moash feeling remorse... I remember him being sad at the end of WoR. I also think that there are two reasons for why Moash isn't seen seeing much remorse. 1. He has given up hope. He doesn't think that anything will be good again. He think that humans are evil, and that oppression will never disappear. And thus, there is no point in feeling bad, since everything is bad. I am also pretty sure about the fact that he hates himself, which might have to do with him recognizing that he is doing bad things. 2. He has not done very much that he considers bad. He killed Elhokae, who he hated and longed to kill. Then he killed Jezrien, who he had no connection too. In fact, since humanity sucks and Jezrien was one of their "gods", I can see Moash blaming him a bit for how things look. The one time we have seen Moash do something that he feels is wrong (failing and betraying Kaladin) he has been feeling remorse for it. -
(OB) Lets Talk Moash
Toaster Retribution replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
This. I would like some human/Listener long-term antagonists. Sadeas, Graves and Amaram are all dead, Venli and Szeth are having redemption arcs... Mr T and Moash (and probably Nale as well) are the ones we got. Mraize is there too, but he is basically a wild-card, but yeah... well-developed long-term villains would be awesome. Call me silly, but I wouldn't call Moash evil. He has given up on society, and on the human race. Circumstances has formed him into the person he is. I don't want a redemption arc either, but I wouldn't say that Moash deserves to be remembered as evil. I think he is more complicated than that. -
I think @maxal has a very strong point. OB felt a bit off to me, and I think it is this. Too little feeling. The end of Part 3/beginning of Part 4 worked best in the entire book, because there I felt the losses, because the characters felt them. The scene where Beard, Sah, Noro and Elhokar are killed in quick succession was the most emotionally powerful in the entire book, because Kaladin truly felt those losses. I agree, and I think we need more focus on the small things in Book 4. I enjoy Bridge 4, but half of Part 2 was dedicated to them, and that was a bit much. That page time could have been used to make me feel more for the other events in the book. I also feel that someone who people cared about should have died in Thaylen City (Amaram doesn't really count). But that is a discussion for another time.

I kind of agree with this. I hope he won't get a redemption arc, because we actually get to see how he becomes a villain, first-hand, which is interesting. -
I'm not very invested in the cookie business (pun totally intended) but I think they are spiked, and full of dark evil power that will enslave your mind :-D

Hah. I can grow like ten plus arms if I want too... and I don't even need Stormlight.

(OB) We need to talk about Eshonai
Toaster Retribution replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think Timbre was a she, actually. -
So, Moash. What does everyone think of him (I suspect most people place him somewhere with Sadeas and Amaram)? Personally, I found his whole indifference about everything interesting, and I am excited to see how his relationship with the Voidbringers will develop, and who he will end up being as Vyre. What is everyones opinion on him? Also, I'll tag @Dreamstorm here, because of stated interest in a thread like this.

This is a good theory. I wonder what part the Dysians and Siah respectively play in this. The Dysian seem to be keeping people away from Akinah, but the Siah? Wonder if they have given up on the protecting of whatever the aimians are hiding?
