  1. Brandon has RAFOed several "where are the Heralds from" questions. What I think you are thinking of is Mraize, who states that Tezim (Ishar) mighr not be human, and if he is, he is not of the local variety. That doesn't really tell us anything about the Heralds origin world though, since they are more or less cognitive shadows, which isn't really human, and thus explains Mraizes suspiciousness.
  2. Kaladin will be Taln 2.0. I can see him taking physical torture for a long time in order to protect, but I think mental torture (if they do that on Braize) would break him pretty quickly.
  3. The reason for why GRRM hasn't finished Winds of Winter yet is because he is too busy rereading all of Brandon Sandersons books.
  4. Thanks for the clarification!
  5. This makes Adolins Major Character Killcount stand at two. He was dangerous at the end of WoR.
  6. @Dreamstorm I'm happy that you enjoy these threads :-) I'll create a Moash thread later in the week (I don't want to create too many threads at once) because I agree: he is very interesting to discuss. If I forget it, remind me (or make on yourself, thats awesome too).
  7. It seemed implied that Timbre (who I btw love) had been investigating Eshonai for a bond. Eshonai was basically a walking, talking description of a Willshaper, and so it seems logical that Timbre should be a Willshaperspren. She then went to Venli, and seems to be starting the bonding process. Since she still remains the same kind of spren, the logical conclusion is that Venli will be a Willshaper. Unless she is found dead at the beginning of SA 4 that is ;-)
  8. *I like Amaram, Nale, Mraize, Taravangian and Graves. Basically every SA villain :-) (Sadeas is crem though). *Mad Max: Fury Road, is no the best thing to happen to humanity. *Winter Soldier and Finding Nemo are overrated movies. *Stick is a very flat and stale character.
  9. @mariapapadia I am not overly fond of Moash either (I wish we gad gotten a Moash-Graves switchout much like we got with Eshonai-Venli). I am interested in where his character goes though, and if Venli is to stay interesting, she needs to interact with interesting people, and Moash is basically the only one nearby.
  10. Agreed. Eshonai was pretty boring in my opinion. The only thing from her POV that I really enjoyed was the OB prologue. Venli is more interesting, though I hope she gets more to do next time. Interactions with Moash/Vyre would be nice.
  11. I read the intro, so I get why we have ookla in our names. But I still can't stop wondering two things: 1. What is an ookla? 2. Should it be a rank achieveable by rep?
  12. I'm still not overly fond of her, and I don't think I will be anytime soon :-) But you (and others) have brought up great posts, and helped me understand why so many like her, and also why she acts like she does. The thing you said about her being worrying about her sanity was a great point for example, and makes her character more interesting.
  13. @PhineasGage Great post! You do a really good job of explaining Jasnah :-) I like your reasoning about Amaram as well. As for the quote about Restares having to talk him into the murders, it isn't explicitly stated, but implied. Here you have it:
  14. So, Eshonai, everyones fave parshendi, and now also a pretty dead parshendi. She died off-screen, and is basically replaced by Venli, who is more or less a confirmed Willshaper by now. Yet, she was built up as an important character, and Brandon has announced her as one of ten flashback characters (the one I am the least excited for). So why did Brandon do this? Why establish Eshonai as a major player just to immediately kill her off? Will Eshonai maybe return in some form? Was it always intended that she died and stayed dead here? Did he put her in as a ruse to cover Venlis importance? Or did something happen during the development of OB that caused him to change his mind about Eshonai? Any thoughts?
  15. I agree. Some kind of oath, perhaps? He seemed serious when he asked Dalinar if he would release him.
  16. I think the same metal as already used (Dawnshard or Rayseium) would work. The thing they need to change is the gemstone, I believe.
  17. Isn't there a theory that the reason he is trapped is because he has been forced/tricked into investing in Roshar? He might have spren and splinters on Braize as well.
  18. Fair enough, you and @Darvys have good points. Amaram was corrupted voluntarily. I still have a hard time buying that all Sadeas men willingly got corrupted, but that is another discussion for another time, I think. As for why I am willing to defend the men but not Jasnah... first off, I am not defending their actions as much as I am defending them as people. And insulting people for disagreeing with you is not being blunt. At least, it isn't an acceptable (in my opinion) form of bluntness. It is a bad argumentation tactic, and a generally bad move. But if I read your posts correctly, your main issue is why I'm able to like Amaram despite murdering people for a Shardblade, while disliking Jasnah over a bunch of insults. As I said, it is partly because I can identify more with Amaram than with Jasnah (for reasons stated before). Then, I also think that @Dreamstorm is correct in his/her (don't know your gender, mate) assessment of why I dislike Jasnah (something I didn't think about until I saw Dreamstorms last post): I don't get all her popularity. I can't identify with her, and she has issues of debateable size that bother me. And yet everyone loves her. I guess I find her overrated, and that I don't "get the hype". If we apply this to Amaram, we see the opposite pattern. I have always seen him as a more grey figure than most others, and have thus been defending him over, and over, and over (someone even accused him of being evil once on Discord just to to tease me a bit). If you keep on defending someone, they will eventually grow on you. I am probably an even bigger Amaram fan after starting to defend him than I was before. Oh, and I should also admit that Jasnah is pretty badass. She knows her soulcasting :-) No, I murder my friends for their Shardblades every day ;-) On a more serious note, yes, he is very different from me. I am personally against the "doing bad stuff for the greater good" view of the world, but I don't consider the ones who support it evil. The part of Amaram I can identify with is the whole "saving souls part". As a catholic who very easily worries over stuff, especially stuff concerning sin and the afterlife, I can see why you would think that everyone would be better off following your faith, and the moral rules it teaches. I worry about people I know who I know are doing things prohibited by the Catholic Church, and wish that they would stop doing it, as part of me is worried that it will wind up being bad for them. So again, I can see why mass-converting people would be tempting. But then I obviously disagree with stuff like attempting to create a church-dictatorship, making church-law into state-law, or using violence except in self-defense. So in short, I disagree with Amaram method, and his ultimate goal, but I can see where he is coming from, which I why I don't consider him a bad person. Lenghty post done, I hope people understand my points and where I come from a bit more now (you'll probably still disagree, and thats awesome, since we wouldn't be having interesting discussions without different opinions).
  19. I'm not sure of the mechanics surrounding this, but I have a hard time seeing all the Sadeas soldiers willingly submitting to Odium. And refusing wasn't easy. Dalinar almost fell for it, and part of why he handled it was because of his pruning by Cultivation, and the fact that he had stuff left to fight for. No one cared to support Amaram as far as we know, and his own allies hated him. Submitting to Odium was wrong, but it is understandable considering the circumstances. And everyone ain't as strong as Dalinar, or Jasnah for that part.
  20. Don't remind me :-( To keep on defending him, I would say that he was crushed by his guilt, as well as manipulated by Odium. The same thing almost happened to Dalinar. Also, as far as I understood it, he didn't voluntarily get corrupted by a Voidspren at the beginning of the Battle of Thaylen City. So if that hadn't happened, I imagine he'd have fought for Roshar in that fight.
  21. I'll just real quick defend Amaram, and say that I doubt that he is as selfish as people think he is. I think Amaram legitimately believes that a Vorin ruled society is best for everyone. A lot of religious people, both real and fictional, place import in saving the souls of others. I think Amaram is onto something similar. Anyhow, he most likely believes that the world would be better off ruled by the church. He has to be talked into stealing Kaladins Blade, he is often trying to unite people toward the common enemy, he mourns the losses his actions will cause, and he even loses a close friendship, all for this goal. Amarams actions are those of a fanatic. While there is no denying that he wants to show off and prove himself, I think that he also harbors a wish to create better lives for humans.
  22. 1. Much more Ghostbloods (specifically more Mraize). 2. Axies and Rysn appearing in the main story as at least semi-important characters. 3. Learn the history between Jasnah and Amaram. 4. See Adolin revive Maya. 5. More Heralds. Specifically Chana. 6. Szeth and Nale vs the Stone Shamans. 7. Odium making pancakes for King Ts grandchildren. 8. The cognitive shadows of Amaram, Sadeas, Teleb and Moashs grandparents going for an epic roadtrip through the Cognitive Realm.
  23. I actually think that it is unfair to say that Amaram did it for himself only. Restares had to talk him into doing what he did. I also think that Jasnah and Amaram are cold in different ways. The Jasnah-coldness that bother me is more her extremely logical and efficient approach to everything. It feels a bit more like a machine than a human, almost. Her entire world is based on research and science. I don't think that that is wrong, and I don't say that it makes her a bad person (it doesn't). It just makes it hard for me to relate to her.
  24. @RShara Actually, as far as we know, Amaram hasn't killed anyone except for Kaladins three spearmen, (and random enemies on the battlefield) and that wasn't because they disagreed with him. He generally appears polite even with those who dislike him, and who he disagrees with (with an exception for Jasnah). King T mostly kills because he has to in order to fulfill the Diagram, or to cover himself from threats. His douchiness when smart can probably be blamed on the Noghtwatcher as much as on himself.
