If you ask nicely, then maybe.

Do you support my hemalurgic beaver in its claim for world-domination?

I don´t know what happened to me... I´m seriously about to promote a ship/pairing. Huh. Never thought this day would come. Anyway, I´m interested in the Rysn-Kaladin idea (I just really don´t like to type Rysnadin). Kaladin is protective, brooding, and fights depression. Rysn is happy enough to help him be non-brooding, but is able to protect herself, with her larkin and A+ crossbow skills that would make the Freys jealous (yes, random GoT reference). She can also understand loss, seeing as she suffered the loss of being able not to walk ever again, something that Kaladin in turn could relate too, partly because of how he has been close to people with similar injuries (hello, Hobber) and partly because of his losses.

[OB] Does anyone else like Jasnah?
Toaster Retribution replied to The Night Watcher's topic in Stormlight Archive
@Prelude, @Ookla the Melodious I'm no mod, and I have no wish to steal their job, but I think you should try and spoiler tag your OB-stuff :-) As for Jasnah, I don't like her much. That logical, colder approach to things bother me, both in Stormlight and IRL. Furthermore, everyone else loves her, and I don't get the hype. And finally, a whole lot of people generally worships her, and I just don't like it. Whatever the problem is, Jasnah always has the answer, or is the solution. She is built up to be much more powerful than everyone else, and her coldness and logic makes her fully aware of it. To me, she feels like a cold person, who is generally good at everything, and is very aware of it. It personally gives me a very unsymphatetic impression of her at times. If we got to see her being weak, not as strong, making bad calls, and not always being the solution, I might like her more. -
Okay, so I wanna know this: how much of Amaram was actually Amaram, after Yelig-Nar? I know that the stuff he said was basically Amarams own thoughts and opinions, but what of him was from Yelig-Nar, besides the surges and the crystals? The fighting abilities? His actions? I really don't get the mechanics and effects of the Yelig-Nar corruption, so how high of a percentage of the Amaram-Unmade hybrid was actually the real Amaram?

[OB] Who I see when I read Oathbringer

Ciaran Hinds is indeed portraying both Steppenwolf and Mance Rayder (though he is miscast as Mance). -
[OB] Who I see when I read Oathbringer
Toaster Retribution replied to bdoble97's topic in Stormlight Archive
I have to watch Shannara sometime. He has the looks down, IMO (apart from the eyes, maybe), and is kind of big, and I know who he is, so I went with him. And he is good as Azog. -
Thanks for this information. I agree with your sentiment about Freud as well. I have done a little bit of psychology, and his ideas doesn't really resonate with me at all.
-
Agreed. This is the only ship ever that I'm seriously hoping for.
-
Nale is already having an active role, Ash and Taln will be important, and Jezrien is pretty dead (R.I.P). There is a WoB that they will be more of a major part in the story during 6-10.
-
Yeah, that sounds like Freud. It would probably be very subconcious though. I don't think "psychologically probable" should be taken as a definitive rule in all situations.

[OB] Who I see when I read Oathbringer

Mark Hamill is Odium for me. And if you add a neat beard and scars to Pedro Pascal, he'd be a fantastic Mraize. Manu Bennett is my Dalinar. -
A relationship built on "you remind me of my mom" would be incredibly creepy though...
-
I am a Truthwatcher accoording to the quiz, but I don't really want to be one. They kind of fit though, based on my personality, but I could also see myself as a Bondsmith or Edgedancer. Power-wise, Skybreaker or Dustbringer. Defenitely.
-
Rysn, maybe? I think that would be fun, and it would also cement her as permanent character in the series, and give her some more screen-time.

(OB) Who will have a bigger role in SA 4?

I didn't know you liked Malata that much. -
[OB] Write a scene for the one year gap
Toaster Retribution replied to aemetha's topic in Stormlight Archive
We didn't get much Mraize in OB, so I wrote a scene for him (I can't de-bold the text for some reason, but I think its readable anyway: -
Ooooh, lemmeguess: 1. Rayse stole Hoids instant noodles and ate all of them. 2. Rayse - Hoid - Bavadin love triangle, and Bavadin chose Rayse. 3. Hoid told Adonalsium that Rayse didn't pay his taxes, which led to Rayse losing his home. 4. Hoid wanted the Shard of Odium, but Rayse got it first. Hoid is now sulking.
-
He means that Odium murdered 3 of the Shards that stayed on the same planet as another Shard :-) Ambition doesn't count in that regard. As for the topic, welcome to the forums @Jarod! My personal belief is that Adonalsium wasn't good or bad. I think it had plans/effects that were good for some and bad for some. A morally grey character, simply. The sixteen were probably among those who didn't like what Adonalsium was doing, but I think there were others who did.
-
Brandon himself isn't too fond of the name, but his writing group loved it, if I remember the annotations correctly. Also, I missed I337 :-( Oh well, I can Compound Gold to see my past self, and thus revisit my old rank!
-
Since Rock is a side-character, I expect him to do a Breeze, and pull out of his depression during the time-jump between book 3 and 4.

We have a WoB

[OB] Stormlight the Musical
Toaster Retribution replied to Hoiditthroughthegrapevine's topic in Stormlight Archive
Move along, nothing to see -
Maybe relevant, maybe not, but I'm going at it anyway: Bavadin and Hoid are enemies now, but I think they were friends once. We know Rayse and Hoid were BFFs, and Bavadin seems to have a relationship with both of them. I think the three were friends once, but something made them split up, with Rayse (and presumably Bavadin) in one camp, and Hoid in another. The fact that Hoid hates Bavadin so much is another point against Autonomy as the author as well. Why contact her for help? I realize that he might be desperate, just as Dalinar was when he asked Sadeas to join him for an attack at the Parshendi in WoK, but I do find Hoid contacting Bavadin a bit strange, in that regard.
-
Same here. Which is wierd in a sense, because herdazian attack forces are interesting. Cred to @Willow for remembering Sheler. I had totally forgot about him. With him and Amaram both dead as of this book, OB should be renamed "Justice for Kaladin",
