This logic is awesome. It also means that @IllNsickly and I and Ben Affleck are the same person, because you never saw us on the same page...

Nice to see a new upvoting system
Toaster Retribution replied to Walin's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
I am kind of happy that downvotes went away before I started my "I dislike Jasnah"-thread and kicked of my Amaram Defense Crusade at the same time. That is controversial combination. Seriously though, I hardly ever thought about the downvote button. I don't think I ever used it on purpose (I came close a couple of times though). I really don't feel that much have changed, except for that I was used to seeing it at the right corner of every post. -
(OB) Who will have a bigger role in SA 4?
Toaster Retribution replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
Actually, Highprinces do engage. It is a very individual choice. Some, like Sebarial, doesn't fight at all. Some, like Aladar, fights at times, but prefers not to. But both Dalinar and Sadeas were seen fighting a LOT in WoK. Adolin is a skilled general and a great Sharbearer, and he knows it. He wouldn't really be one to sit home and talk politics with the Azish. I fully expect Adolin to act as a field general and warrior, because that is where his strenghts lie. This guy knows what's important :-D -
Very good point. I like this theory better and better. Fun thing, you actually interrupted me while I was reading your theory of Intent. Time to get back to that now.

I like this. I have to say that I support the "Ambition wrote the Letter" theory a bit more currently, if only because I am not overly fond of the "Autonomy is a hive-mind" thought. I have to say though, that this is fully possible. It fits very well with the intent of Autonomy too. She is truly autonomous, since she is able to be everywhere, basically.
-
Hah! I find it funny that Ambition seems to be so beloved by everyone. It appears in theories everywhere. I'd actually say that both Bavadin and Ambition are fan favorites. As for the theory itself, it makes a whole lot of sense, I have to say. I like how it fits with Ambitions themes: surviving beyond death, claiming worlds, and so on. It also works well with a bunch of WoBs we have, and Bavadins apparent hive-mind has itched me as well. I like it the more I consider it, actually. That said, I can see two points against it: 1. Bavadin likes to hijack religions, and to be worshipped. Patji is worshipped, at least by Dusk. That kind of makes it fit well with Autonomy, and the Shard that wrote the hive-mind Letter is most likely the one that is hanging around First of the Sun, since the Letter contains references to waves and water. 2. Wouldn't Odium have attempted to stop this from happening, somehow. After all, he shoved Dominion and Devotion into the CR in order to prevent their power from being taken up. Wouldn't he have predicted that this could happen? I also want to address this real quick: I don't know if you misquoted here, but this is part of the first Letter (most likely written by Endowment). You may have acknowledged that, and in that case, I apologize for calling you out on this.

The Annoyomancer - What is this SACRILEGE?!?

It sounded kind of fun. Cone on guys, we have to admit it. Spikyface is a great name for an Inquisitor. -
[OB] My Small and Insignificant Problem With OB
Toaster Retribution replied to MistbornAlpaca's topic in Stormlight Archive
They will probably be a main driving force as the story moves along. They, along with the Ghostbloods are the two big mysterious groups with heaps of exciting lore left unexplored. We will probably get more in book 4. OB didn't really have a place for them, since the focus was on the Voidbringers, Unmade and spren. -
Our only Sons of Honor character (Amaram) is dead, and we have not really seen other members. The Desolation has arrived, and some Heralds are moving (Nale, Ishar, Taln, Ash), and so part one of their objective is basically fulfilled. Will we get more from them? Will Restares, or someone else, emerge from the shadows. Will they be allies? Enemies? Or are they insignificant now? What is the future of the Sons of Honor?

Secret History spoilers:

Mraize, for being mysterious, badass, and kind of likeable. Amaram, because he is a lot more complex than he gets credit for. I think he meant well, in the beginning, at least. Axies, for being unique, funny and feel-good. His POV was awesome to read, and I hope for more.

Can Sja-anat be trusted? It is a hard question. My gut says no. Maybe not because Sja is attempting to pull a trick, but because Odium most likely could control her at will. That said, I do believe that Sja-anat herself wants to rid herself of Odium. The Ghostbloods seems to think that she might be serious with that, and they usually have good information. The big question for me is why Sja-anat would seek to defect in the first place? And is she the only Unmade who is sentient enough to do something like this?

[OB] Whats going to happen with Maya
Toaster Retribution replied to bdoble97's topic in Stormlight Archive
Adolin will defenitely revive Maya. It has been teased far too much for it not to happen. -
(OB) Who will have a bigger role in SA 4?
Toaster Retribution replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
I feel like Dalinar will be important, but maybe not at the center of the action. I do expect him to confront Ishar, and maybe Nale as well. -
(OB) Who will have a bigger role in SA 4?
Toaster Retribution replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
My own hope/guess would be Mraize and Iyatil. We need to see some activity from the Ghostbloods soon, since they have been slowly set up for three books now. In addition, I suspect we will get more Cultivation, and also more Ash and Taln. I also think we will see Ishar for the first time. -
Hoid will become the new Adonalsium
Toaster Retribution replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Cosmere Discussion
@NotBurtReynolds That is an interesting theory, and a very nice WoB. Good job! -
I came to this realization when discussing Bavadin and the races of Yolen in another thread. We know that there are three races on Yolen: dragons, humans and Sho Del. We don't know much about any of them, but the ones we know the least of is probably the Sho Del. Yet, I feel that Ambition is probably one of them. First off, I think every race should have at least one representative among the 16, so at least one has to be Sho Del. Secondly, we know the real name of a bunch of the vessels, and among all of them (Rayse, Bavadin, Edgli, Ati, Leras, Tanavast, Skai, Aona and Uli Da) Uli Da is the one that stands out, which makes me suspect a non-human race. So why do I think that Uli Da is Sho Del? Well, first off, the name has a space in the middle, just like the name of the Sho Del themselves. And secondly, we know a dragon, and his name is Frost, which doesn't seem to fit with Uli Da, linguistic-wise. So my conclusion is that Uli Da has to be Sho Del. Apologizes if this has been discussed before.

We don't, but darkeyes generally don't seem to have last names, so I personally doubt he has one. -
[OB] Crackpot Theory: Bavadin
Toaster Retribution replied to TheOneKEA's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I am pretty sure that they are mentioned in some WoBs as well, which is another source of canonization. Anyways, they sound like a big piece of worldbuilding, so I can't see Brandon just throwing them out the window. I would guess that at least one of the vessels is Sho Del (maybe Ambition? After all, Uli Da sounds unlike any other Shard-name this far, and is unlike Hoids and Frosts names as well). -
Easy question. Is there any character you expect to step up and have a bigger role in the next book? Venli, Lift and Odium defenitely took that step in OB, and you could probably argue that the same was the case with Navani, Elhokar, Moash and even Amaram, to an extent. So, who do you expect to take up a more major role in book 4?

[OB] Crackpot Theory: Bavadin
Toaster Retribution replied to TheOneKEA's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Thanks for the upvote @aemetha, you get an upvote and a toast. I am more positive to this idea now than I was before, even though I still don't buy it wholesale. Do we know if Brandon might have added more races to Yolen since he wrote Liar/Dragonsteel? Are three still the canon number. I will look through Arcanum myself, but if anyone happens to know, they could save me some trouble. EDIT: I found my information. It looks like only three sentient races on Yolen is still canon. I did find a WoB that might kill this theory though: So if there are only three races (Sho Del, humans and dragons), and all vessels are from Yolen, then Bavadin really can't be an aimian. Of course, the question gives Brandon wiggle room. You could interpret "from Yolen" as being on Yolen when the Shattering happened, or living there. But I think Bavadin = aimian is quite unlikely, unfortunately. It is a cool idea though. -
Welcone! I have seen you around a bit already. Hope you keep on hanging around!

[OB] Are the people of Roshar Asian?
Toaster Retribution replied to Llarimar's topic in Stormlight Archive
Huh, I would personally cast Chow Yun Fat as Sadeas... that said, fan-casting Stormlight with exact likeness to the books is incredibly hard. When I do it, not nearly everyone has the required eyes, and some of those who have lack the proper skin tone.
