Do we know what spren there are? Or if we see them at all?
-
On the other hand, not every act of creativity results in creationspren. Shallan likely attracts large numbers at least in part due to her being a Radiant (or Surgebinder). Some spren are more common, and others aren't. It could be due to not being able to attract the spren due to their quality as a worldhopper and it could be due to not feeling enough emotion to attract the spren. And who on Roshar would ever want to bond something like a flamespren? You'd have to light yourself on fire or something to keep it from dying.

On the whole, I'm not entirely sure it matters what the definition of magic is. What were we talking about that got us to this topic?

If I understand what you mean, what you describe can be referred to the moderators. If not, please elaborate.

Basically, it depends on whether or not the fetus is alive enough to view itself as something more than what other people view it as. I'm not equipped to answer this question, and it can be argued that nobody really knows how sentient a fetus is. The idea that unborn fetuses can potentially have a Spiritweb is doubtful. On the other hand, I have an idea for how Forgery could be used to maybe save a fetus. If the umbilical cord strangles it (which sadly does happen) or if the baby won't turn upside down, perhaps Forgery could change it so that happened. I'm not sure if it would work, but it could save lives.

Magic is something that one is unfamiliar with that can be used to achieve seemingly supernatural feats. I'm perfectly fine with technology meeting this definition.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Stormgate replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you hear 'Venture Capitalist' and your first thought is Straff. This happened when watching TV. -
To be fair, Kobold, you do have the highest number of upvotes on the 17th Shard.
-
I have heard nothing about giving Funtimes a Pegasus/unicorn.

Be upvote happy, I suppose.

Dalinar's Flashback Chapter from Oathbringer
Stormgate replied to Argent's topic in Stormlight Archive
I agree. Regardless of what he does, if he has that on his record, then he can at best become slightly better than Straff Venture. -
Perhaps tucked in the Cognitive Realm? Or wherever Shardblades go when they disappear? Also, what are the tags for strikethrough?

theory Gavilar's Black Sphere and its content
Stormgate replied to manavortex's topic in Stormlight Archive
The dark sphere may contain Odium's equivalent of Stormlight, or maybe the corrupted Investiture that Nightblood produces. The Odium one seems more likely. And as for Cultivation: I know people have the theory that the Nightwatcher is closely linked with Cultivation, but can you really see the Shard of nurturing the weak having black Investiture? -
We're probably going to learn more about Honorblades in later books, but I get the feeling they are more than Shardblades that grant anyone Surgebinding. Also, as I've been thinking a bit about Slivers, that WoB might help explain Hoid (who I suspect is a Sliver of some sort, possibly Adonalsium.)

Syl and the other sentient spren (you say sapient, but I think sentient makes more sense) are indeed Splinters of Honor. Honor died, and was Splintered at the hands (does he have hands at this point?) of Odium, aka the Shard of hatred and the one who caused the jumble of Devotion and Dominion we see on Sel. The Stormfather is the one conveying Honor's visions, and the Stormfather is the Spren or Cognitive Shadow of Honor. They are from Honor's past, since Honor is not very good at seeing the future.

Thinking about Amaram makes him darker. To answer the question in the topic, I think we love Kaladin because he puts away his own prejudices to do what's right, even mildly conquering them in the process. If Kaladin doesn't still have some issues with lighteyes by the end of the ten-book series, I will be disappointed with Sanderson. You don't exactly 'get over' something like what he has. You can make progress on it to be sure, but perhaps never quite get over it.

Wow. Taravangian was insane that day. There is a reason the term 'mad genius' comes so easily to us.

You forget everything that happens that day. X-Ray machines are like the webcomic XKCD. -
Brandon won some Stabby Awards!
Stormgate replied to Blaze1616's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I initially thought that the Stabby awards was an forum joke. I think the DA should get on this, try to win as many as possible (AMAP)- 8 replies

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Stormgate replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
You know you're a Sanderfan when you see the image made by the covers above and your first thought is that those buildings may hold a clue about the Cosmere, or at least Scadrial. -
I know the pain and captivity experienced by Honor Spren on many occasions. On that note, what was the old quota? I never found out.

My work here is done.

At the end of it all, we still are members of the 17th Shard who generally respond civilly to posts and probably won't stab you with a Hemalurgic spike made from sentient cardboard. I can't speak for the Alley.

Judging from the evidence, either ChickenPlague is extremely talented in Awakening metal, or is making stuff up as he goes along. Probably the second. Yay! Thoughtward's first theory! No--I didn't... Oh by the Iridescent Tones, what have I done?
