  1. Over the next two weeks, I will take four AP tests. The first is on Monday. The next is on my birthday. The next two are on the same day. I currently have very little under my belt in the way of experiences that could be defined as "panic attacks" and, so long as I suppress my fear, I don't foresee my adding another to the list. I don't know...should I just let go, get it all over with before I'm in the first test?
  2. What sort of resume is required to become a 17th Shard Admin?
  3. When Kaladin tried to use his powers to fight simply to defeat his opponent, he couldn't do it. When he began conspiring to kill Elhokar, he experiences a similar power drain. With the Knights Radiant, due to the nature of how they get their powers, they must be honorable, more than Mistborn must preserve, or Awakeners Endow, or Elantrians love. Sanderson developed this system so it was based on people's actions.
  4. Elsecallers seem to be the general Order that Sharders tend to fit in. Given the similarities between Jasnah trying to prove her theory about the parshmen and the Voidbringers and some of our theories, the main difference I can see is that Jasnah has more resources. And ours aren't a matter of life and death. Probably.
  5. Congrats, you're a twin! However, he's more inclined toward sports than books, and finds Kelsier "broody and emo." You have no bane. The Nightwatcher has pity on your soul. I wish to know how many Librarians spend time on the 17th Shard.
  6. Electricity has functionality regardless of whether they actually have electricity-dependent devices. Stormform proves as much. And do we all agree that, if the Surgebinders learn how to make radioactive materials/explosives/pure energy, they would blast the Voidbringers all the way to Yolen? Seriously, they might Shatter a Shard with that power. Wait a minute...
  7. I see no reason why being a squire could lead to being unable to be a Knight. In fact, in one of Dalinar's visions, it's shown to potentially make it easier (the one where he fought the Midnight Essence.) One of the Knights said something along the lines of "You may not get the powers, that's not my division, but you would have a decent chance." It's possible I'm misinterpreting it, it's been a while since I read SA
  8. I'd ask you to give a full report, but we might have Librarian Sharders. Report to the Free Kingdoms at once! Fly out into the middle of the Pacific Ocean and disappear forever! Amelia Earhart paved the way, you can follow.
  9. I'm glad you asked. It started with the theory that the Ten Essences on Roshar are correlated with the focuses (or, how the Investiture is accessed and shaped on a planet) of the Ten Shardworlds. I believe there is a WoB saying that the connection isn't as close as philosophers once thought, or something. This made me think that the focuses for most of the Shardworlds were more wibbly-wobbly than on Scadrial, where it is clearly metal. So, I began thinking. The magic on Sel is the most location-based of any we've seen in the Cosmere. Perhaps it has to do with your origins, where you hail from, which nations are in your blood. Then I remembered how Forgery requires natural ink, preferably squid ink or something animal in nature. Then we must not forget about the Bloodsealers, whose necromantic powers seem to function only by using human blood. Not to mention, it's possible (theorizing here) that a large portion of the silvery physical characteristics of Elantrians is a result of their silver blood (I don't remember exactly whether or not they do, I'm mainly guessing on this point.) So, that's why I think Sel's focus is blood.
  10. You have three large, perfectly cut gemstones filled with Stormlight. As you have no spren, it's pretty, but useless for everything but auctions. You have no bane, as the Nightwatcher has taken pity on you since you didn't actually get your boon. I wish to have memorized every WoB verbatim as the words proceeded out of both Brandon's and the questioner's mouth, with perfect understanding about the meaning.
  11. Use the tension Surge on a pair of pants to make the wearer immobile. For best results, use while victim is sitting,
  12. Could it be said that the focus for Sel is blood?
  13. In Julius Caesar, some conspirators wanted to take him down because they hated him, some wanted the power, some thought that it would be better for everyone if it happened. Perhaps the beings we know as Vessels for Shards had a similar variety of motivations, and Rayse was the one that nobody really wanted to associate with, but had to anyway. I'm liking this comparison to Julius Caesar more and more. It just answers so many questions.
  14. Storing the memory of what you're doing right as you enter a room. You enter the room and have no idea why you're there. Worse, you can't remember. This one's fun: using bendalloy in a clock shop so the clocks are all wrong.
  15. Nightblood seems like aluminum: Investiture goes in, doesn't really come out. One of the potential risks with the LHE is that they might accidentally make a black hole. Perhaps this is the Cosmere-equivalent.
  16. I had a thought: AonDor is the magic system that is probably closest to programming. Maybe Soo helps with some of the functions of that.
  17. Can we stop talking about this? People are getting upset, and the number of situations where that is okay can be counted on Lopen's missing hand. It's getting to the point where I think the best way to diffuse the situation is to simply stop the argument.
  18. Either way, a Shardshovel would be more effective than a war hammer.
  19. So, we just discovered how Roshar can invent the suicide bomber and the formula e=mc2 at the same time? Unless it's a Surgebinder, in which case they remain in the Cognitive Realm. Weird things would happen, though.
  20. In Soulcasting, there seems to be some leeway in what exactly is produced. Emeralds, for example, fundamentally make wood, but skill and practice can help to get food in a variety of forms. Metal can be used for any metal in existence, from gold, to silver, to pewter (with practice). So, I was thinking, what could the Essence of Spark make? Obviously fire (hello Stickians), but what else? This is the fun part. Could Spark be used to create plasma, or lightning? What about light, making a laser beam of sorts.
  21. Don't insult the power. We can also turn their weapons into cotton candy. Or, you know, we could just turn the entire army into cotton candy. Which Essence should be used, though? Smoke? Plants? I change my mind. Plan number one is to turn the army into metal, then ship them to Scadrial. Plan number Two is taking the officers of the army and dropping them into the endless sea of beads. It's cheap, but effective. The power of transformation is harder to manipulate than, say, gravity, but it's in some cases flashier.
  22. You don't want to eat it and, unless you're interested in biology, you want to put it back where it came from and get it far away. Cotton is like a Shardblade.
  23. You get turned into a version of yourself that, although now scaleless and gill-less, is the opposite gender than your current gender. I wish for the power to make lightning strike anywhere and anytime I want, but not when and where I don't.
  24. I read the death rattle in this topic... figured it out... and then realized that was the subject of the topic. I'm a special kind of special. I forgot about Dalinar's army, though.
  25. Well, they do get their power from Honor... And it's been said that the Shard's Intent determines how to get the Investiture, if not specifically how it can be used. So, Shallan must be acting honorably, else she couldn't access Stormlight.
