  1. You could say that...
  2. Eric is a tragic story. A boy, raised in the shadow of the Lord General, is instructed every waking hour on how to be a leader, a fighter. He was likely never allowed to have fun like other boys, and I'm willing to bet his adventures with Kenton were mostly or entirely forbidden. Even then, his father's voice echoed in his mind, preventing him from doing what he wanted. He spent his entire childhood learning how to be an adult, he never took time to learn how to be a child. During childhood, we form and develop the core of our personalities. Eric was never given the chance. Who he is, though, deep down, is a carefree, happy little boy who doesn't want others to suffer, from his actions or from his leadership. I doubt his father ever knew who he was. He himself was in league with Sharezan, and likely wanted his son to be a better Lord General than he was. I once had the thought of what would make Peter Pan want to grow up? Apparently, responsibility. And he was never very happy being grown up. I apologize, I'm feeling sad right now, and this is what happens when I talk philosophy when I'm sad.
  3. Let's see... Which one created those things (I don't know the name, but they appreciate art but cannot make it) Slaughter created them for war, and Despair twisted them into gentle giants that love art but cannot make it, causing them to despair. I believe it is mentioned which one did which, so by process of elimination... Also, using Night seems to lead to increased Slaughter, so Makkal may be Slaughter. It's entirely possible that I contradicted myself in this post. Go with the first theory if that's the case.
  4. There's a WoB about Perpendicularities being like spikes from the Spiritual Realm to the Physical. He said the word spike was intentional. Perpendicularities, generally, are Shardpools. So, walking on theory thin ice, the Shardpool placement might be the choice of the Shard.
  5. Technically, the speed of light does change depending on the medium. This is where we get the prism effect. Light goes in, is slowed down and bent, then goes slightly slower/faster, then exits the prism and returns to its previous speed. In prisms, the light doesn't in-separate. The speed of light is constant relative to everything else in the medium. Perhaps the speed bubble counts as a different medium, and thus distorts the light like heat coming off of pavement in the summer.
  6. I recently looked at my first two topics on the 17th Shard. Both of them were theory posts, and they were actually theories that are not dissimilar from my Shard/metal theory. I apparently have always enjoyed theories, and the big picture.

  7. It's only a matter of time before we start get commissioned Pony!Epics... Oregon RP, go.
  8. And skyeels. Skyeels are cool. There's also the tendency of eyes to smoke after they are killed via Shardblade.
  9. Ooh oo Oooh Shut up and bond with me This lighteyes is my destiny He said Oooh oo Oooh Shut up and Bond with me. I'm sorry. Stormfather was trying to wipe it clean, and accidentally had it show up at the exact wrong time. On the other hand, Kaladin's fight with Szeth wouldn't have been half as awesome. But really, I have to questions about the definition of honorable actions: Honor wiping them out, and Shallan lying all the storming time.
  10. Besides, have you ever tried to sever the soul of a Voidbringer with a hammer? I don't think war hammers have claws.
  11. I was wondering what was going on. Good to know!
  12. Since Breaths are native to Nalthis, I would say that by breath to draw, she means further survival.
  13. The thing we often forget about Bridge Four is that before they were Dalinar's personal guards, they were on a suicide mission designed to draw enemy arrows. Before Kaladin, Bridge Four had the highest rate of turnover of the bridge crews. And there's only one way to get fired from that gig. I'd be wherever I could go to make fabrials in peace. Much less rare than Shardblades and certainly Honorblades, and it's the closest thing that world has to programming. Probably better than programming, as they are more able to directly manipulate the world. Sure, someone might accidentally be Transported to the Origin Sea, but they will be informed of the risks.
  14. I think that TWoK basically made the process of becoming a Knight Radiant more clear, less of the bumbling around and killing spren that (WoR spoilers) It's not just a good book, it's an instruction manual for becoming a Radiant. ADD: that would make for some interesting YouTube tutorials...
  15. The gemstones alone are apparently not enough. The spren, and more importantly type of spren, contained inside a gemstone likely change the way the fabrial fundamentally works.
  16. They are both very strange, and have been known to only say their name. Picture frames are like Soulcasters.
  17. You holder of Ruby! By the Diamond's Fragments. I'm working on a cubic planet, with magic systems sort of based on gemstones. Actually, certain gemstones I have acting like Shards. I had the basic idea for this before I discovered Sanderson and realized it was like Mistborn, the Cosmere, and a bit of Stormlight Archive.
  18. Make Awakened stone angel statues (Kalad's Phantoms) with the same command, only with the additional one of "Find Whovians"Appear right next to someone, then just stand there while they try to process I'm there. Write a poem about something like pond scum. Perform in front of group. Use emotional Allomancy to make them all get feels over pond scum. Make everyone's chairs really squeaky with Forgery.
  19. Scadrial was formed by Preservation and Ruin. Preservation created Scadrial to have a focus that was easily exploitable, to allow Preservation to capture Ruin and turn his power into atium. I'm not quite sure how much of that is confirmed versus my speculation.
  20. Function for Reverse Lashing: Make any game of football, baseball, ultimate Frisbee, etc. completely unfair.
  21. It's fascinating to watch people, often grown adults, get so in-depth into the transformation of stone into grain. Not to say I haven't had similar discussions. It's simply interesting to watch.
  22. Elsecaller. Ideals of Wisdom and Care. I can live with that. There are worse things than effective teleportation and transformation.
  23. This is one of the cases where "RAFO" probably means "Yes." A long-time theory of mine, if not correct, is a touchy subject!
  24. This magic system is probably not going to be very close to the canon version.
  25. Actually, a lot of them probably live off of each other. The deep sands are probably like the ocean, there are big fish and little fish and the little ones travel in swarms.
