Twitter Chat w/ Barnes & Noble, #NOOKTalks
WeiryWriter replied to Argent's topic in Events and Signings
I still haven't seen a good argument why it can't be a Terris name, it works as far as I can tell, and where has Brandon hinted that she's from Roshar? Alternatively it could be "ay-sly-din". -
Calamity Preorders, White Sand News, and more!
WeiryWriter posted a article in Brandon and Book News
I cannot believe it but Calamity is being released in three days... With The Bands of Mourning being released so recently it has kind of snuck up on us. Brandon and co. however, in an effort to give Calamity it's due hype, have created some awesome "swag" for those who pre-order a copy of the book from certain bookstores, a list of which can be found here on Brandon's website. The goodies include a 12-page mini comic adaptation of Mitosis, punch-out cards for David, Megan, and Prof (similar to the ones done for Words of Radiance and Firefight), and a set of pins. On top of that any book that comes with this bundle will be signed. Do be sure to check with each store as there is a limited number of these bundles and each store has a different policy (some will do online orders, others only in-store purchases). Unfortunately the Wellers Book Works pre-order is already sold out. They only sold a limited number of copies (250) and they sold out incredibly quickly. In other news the first volume of the White Sand graphic novel is up for pre-order on Amazon.com (as well as BarnesandNoble.com and BooksaMillion.com, so check your personal vendor-of-choice). It is currently listed with a release date of June 21st. Which, since that is also listed as the release date in the Current Projects ticker on Brandon's site, we can trust. (On a side note the White Sand proofread is currently sitting at 90%!) They also posted a blurb: As someone who has read the prose version, I really can't wait to see what they've done with it. Amazon has also put the cosmere short story collection up for pre-order. The title is "Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection" and is given a release of November 8th of this year. They've also posted the cover art for the Tor re-release of The Knights of Crystallia, which looks great: -
It's less that "the space between them doesn't exist" and more that distances change in the cognitive realm change based on how much "thought" there is in the physical. There isn't much of that in empty space (even lower, inanimate object, thought is lacking) so the space in the cognitive realm is greatly, but not completely, contracted.

If I remember correctly Brandon has been asked, and while it is technically possible to hold any two shards certain combinations are easier/more stable than others.

Somebody already asked Brandon, Vathi is not Khriss.

[BoM Spoilers] A broadsheet back from Shadows of Self...
WeiryWriter replied to Platysaur's topic in Mistborn
For the record I don't necessarily believe it is Iyatil in the broadsheet. Just that she is a Hunter by descent. -
This is the first I've seen of this (though that was only posted yesterday so I'm not surprised it hasn't crossed my tumblr dash yet) but Bota is respected member of the tumblr fandom (and is actually the Chinese translator for Words of Radiance). So if she says this conversation happened, I absolutely believe her. As for why we haven't heard anything much about this before now, it might be as simple as Brandon & co. being contractually obligated to stay quite for now and since DMG is based in China it's harder for us to get wind of anything.

10th anniversary alterations (Spoilers!)
WeiryWriter replied to Landis963's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
From what I understand the UK publisher hasn't picked up the 10th anniversary edition at this point because it hasn't been out for 10 years yet over there. -
[BoM Spoilers] A broadsheet back from Shadows of Self...
WeiryWriter replied to Platysaur's topic in Mistborn
That sounds an awful lot like Iyatil... Not to mention Brandon has mentioned that we've seen a Southern Scadrian worldhopper. -
Phew... The Bands of Mourning is out (along with a very nice surprise novella) so I guess now starts the long wait between Sanderson relea-- Wait, what do you mean Calamity is coming out in less than two weeks? Sparks, so it is... Brandon just posted the stops for the Calamity over on his website's event page. Remember if you are planning to go to any of these signings to follow the included links to find out that location's policies. I'm not sure whether they'll be allowed. As for where Hoid is in White Sand, he doesn't actually show up on-screen. Ais references him as part of a past case he worked. As for how many shards there are on the Aether world, I'm pretty sure he's said there are only two, and that they were reworked into Ruin and Preservation. I don't think it's confirmed that he will break orbit? Just that they had done the math on what it would take, and I took that more as a thought experiment. I sincerely doubt they would have mentioned it if it had any bearing on future plot events. Brandon has said that Sazed did experiment with malatium but "didn't get far".

Moving this to the event sub-forum. As far as I know the details are still being worked out. Peter has said that it is going to be a normal evening signing though.

WeiryWriter replied to imriel452's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Wow, I did not expect this to be answered this soon. Two questions though, what's the exact question you asked and would you mind posting a picture of the inscription? (These will both help with future indexing)- 30 replies

timasp, I've hidden your post as material from Bands/Secret History is NOT to be discussed outside of the relevant spoiler forums at this time as per the current spoiler policy. Also in the future if you don't know how to do something like spoiler tagging please either look it up or ask another user how to do it before posting un-tagged spoilers.

As a point of clarification those aren't the foci this discussion is about. The concept of a "body focus" in Vorinism, which is what that WoB is referring to, are largely cultural in nature. Foci like the metals however are quite real parts of the magic.

How do they fill those in the first place? [Bands Spoilers]
WeiryWriter replied to kabu's topic in Mistborn
Okay, I've edited the title of this thread, as not only did it include a MASSIVE spoiler it was also missing a spoiler tag. Please read the current spoiler policy.
