  1. I personally think that Shinovar is an area that was (forgive the pun) cultivated solely by Cultivation while the rest of Roshar was of Honor. I suspect the Alethi for example are of Honor (hence the Stormfather calling Kaladin "Son of Honor") while the Shin are of Cultivation. Regarding the Aemian folk, I believe we have a WoB that states they are some crossbreed of Listeners and Humans similar to the Horneaters. I will add the reference later but am currently on my cellphone.
  2. You can be kind and generous and have fascination with anatomy that makes you interested in dissecting things. =]
  3. I got into Sanderson when he finished the Wheel of Time. After finishing A Memory of Light, I picked up Warbreaker and was immediately hooked on the Cosmere. My BS reading order was: Warbreaker->WOK->WoR->TFE->WoA->HoA->Elantris->AoL->White Sand->6oTD->SoSinFoH->Liar of Partinel (excerpts)->TES I've reread everything except the novellas.
  4. Hello and welcome! Have you only read Cosmere related Sanderson book or others as well? Outside of Mistborn, what Sanderson books have you read?
  5. Also, when you have gotten someone new into the Cosmere and they ask you a question and the only reply you can give them without ruining something is ...RAFO
  6. From "The Letter" I'm not sure I agree with your conclusion that human hatred allows Rayse to grow his power. I think it is more likely that his natural inclination toward the emotion allowed him to have a synergy with his shard. I suspect that the rest of the shard holders are (somewhat) inhibited by their natures clashing (at least partially) with the intents of their shards. Rayse is more powerful due to the lack of conflicting intent between holder and shard. If anything, I think he is just able to use a more complete amount of the power of his shard than others. In addition, prior to his apparent entrapment on Braize, Odium seemed to be untethered while the other shards we have seen we're invested in the shardworlds they had occupied. I suspect this lack of focused investment gave him an edge against any shardholder who was invested in a planet.
  7. From WoB: Have we had confirmation that all 16 shard holders were actually present for the shattering? I'm looking through the WoB but am only seening that Hoid was definitely there.
  8. This one killed me. I laughed for like 5 minutes straight at my desk at work... My co-workers looked at me like I was Taln level crazy.
  9. WeiryWriter, I think you may be falling into a bit of a trap here. You are assuming that Vivenna actually knows what she is talking about. It may just be me, but this very much seems to be something that Vivenna believes in her naive and bias to the point of prejudiced mind. Given her track record for simply believing what she is told [in the early parts of the book], can we really take her account as accurate? I suspect anyone who had the blood and a self image that viewed themselves as royal would actually have the royal locks. As we know self image plays a large part in the physical realm representation of people as shown with Lopen's arm and Kaladin's slave brand.
  10. I suspect Allomantic Gold may play a role in this too. Adding a new layer to "who am I with who am I not, but could I have been."
  11. Kiin from Elantris is a fun one. You just have to master the raspy "Crushed-throat" voice.
  12. It should also be noted that Szeth's Surgebinding via Honorblade makes him use more Stormlight than would otherwise be needed for the Surgebinding.
  13. It is somewhat incredible how often the promise of snacks will make people do what you want... Now, while on the topic of snacks, tell me more about the most powerful Science in Existence...
  14. I would guess that your theory that it is very mineral rich is correct. I have always imagined Crem to be similar to Clay. As we know that the Highstorms are invested I would expect that that the Crem itself is too. I suspect this is what makes it difficult to chip. Kaolinite is the chemical compound for pure clay. If my guess that Crem is like clay is correct, then it is probably chemically close to Kaolinite (Al2O3 2SiO2 2H2O) That would make it high in Aluminum and Silicone It should also be noted that Kaolinite has an average pH level of 5.8 so it falls in line that the water would taste acidic.
  15. This is a very good point that I had overlooked, Eshonai's bond probably does affect how she is affected by the Unmade's influence. However, Adolin did also lose the Thrill while he was attacking the plateau with Jakamov.
  16. There is some mention of this in the thread but it is lightly touched upon at best: During the assault in WoR Adolin does not feel the thrill at all and even gets a sickened feeling while fighting. We have seen this twice before; Both Kaladin and Dalinar had similar experiences while fighting the Parshendi. I think this may be the best indication of upcoming Radiancy. My guess is that Adolin is beginning to feel the very early effects of a Nahel bond this is pushing away Nergaoul's influence. I have seen some people point to Nergaoul moving to the chaos in Jah Kaved to be the cause of the absence of the Thrill. Adolin comments that Eshonai is definitely feeling the effects of the Thrill during their duel. So, unless he is wrong then, the Thrill is still affecting the Shattered Plains and he is immune.
  17. WoB have confirmed that he gets the sense of where he needs to be a what time through Feruchemy.
  18. I laughed at this way more than is reasonable...
  19. You guys are way over thinking this... The answer seems so obvious. "Cook Bacon".
  20. Oh, there is an established pattern for naming god metals? "Whatever, I do what I want [provided it is within my intent]" -Sazed Edit: damnation typos...
  21. While this is true, the Chasm is a new development (relatively) so prior to being changed it would have fallen into the category of 3.
  22. I got ESTJ for Dalinar. It seems to fit quite well.
  23. This is an interesting notion, I suspect you may be right (at least partially). There is certainly an argument that Kaladin was breaking multiple oaths for example you could make the case that in his drunken state Elhokar would qualify as "unable to protect himself". Also there is the possibility that his actions were against an oath he has not yet spoken (certainly Oath #3 and who knows about 4&5) which probably isn't expressly forbidden but is most likely frowned upon. I particularly like your idea when applied to say the Skybreakers; It falls in nicely with the the idea of the "means justifying the end" (i.e. journey before destination) rather than the cliché "end justifies the means". In their case, following the law to the "T" is the means (journey) and whatever results is the end (destination).
