  1. We know that the majority of Radiants who participated in the Recreance abandoned their Shards, however it's likely that given how crucial the Stormfather is to the Rosharan ecosystem, the then Bondsmith died to allow the bond to dissipate naturally. (That and it's possible the Bondsmith was like Dalinar, and couldn't summon the Stormfather as a weapon) Whilst the Storm father was originally of Adonalsium, the Shard's arrival changed the system somewhat
  2. I would actually disagree with most of you on the Elhokar front. Considering all he's been through lately, I'm not getting that dark vibe. I see it as he's accepted that he needs to gitgud by his admittance to Dalinar about how he could learn something from him. Not to mention his drunk lamentation to Kal in WoR. I see it as the start of taking a backseat role so he can learn to be a better leader. Whilst Dalinar may be in charge atm, I don't believe it'll stay that way. After all, the traits for Bondsmiths are Pious and Guiding so I would imagine Dalinar taking a more steward role/leader of Urithuru, much like the way we have the U.N or E.U. Elhokar would resume as King of Alethkar and so on.
  3. A few thoughts (bit of rehash and mutual agreement with general consensus); The earlier discussion of Trellium/Trell Investing: I recall a WoB that said Harmony was the only Shard on Scadrial at this time so I believe he would have noticed if a Shard had managed to Invest a noticeable amount of Investiture in the planet...however, as Bleeder has been Worldhopping, she could have easily acquired some Trellium from wherever its origin is, (I would find it very hard to believe that any Shard would be incapable of condensing a small part their Investiture into small nuggets of metal to smuggle from world to world, especially if they'd manage to discover the focus to Scadrial's magic). On the subject of Foci/Focuses, I'm of the opinion that each planet only has one. Haemalurgy is a strange magic but I my head canon has always been this; The metal type defines what trait can be taken > The blank spike is put against requisite bind point (generally heart, as my impression I've gotten via WoBs, is that it is a universal bind point) > Intent is supplied and trait/power is taken (also very important as Brandon says, you can't accidentally spike someone. I also wonder if it would work if you had the Intent to steal all of their powers or not) > (here is where things get a bit ambiguous) Filled spike is then placed against against volunteer, whether against a bind point or otherwise, and then blammo. What I'm very uncertain about if placement of the filled spike does or does not matter in the recipient (I'm inclined to say both) given the examples in both eras. After all, Spook got blessed with Haemalurgical pewter burning, but we don't know if it was through a bind point in his arm or not. (Let's not mention the chimera-esque human creations Bleeder made). Without an acupuncture-esque Haemalurgical bind point chart of the human body, we're can't really say for sure, or without any direct confirmation from Brandon/Peter themselves. @Oversleep back to your first post. I would argue that it isn't confirmation that spikes need to be made of metal, as the person asked that question just assumed that the spikes you would have on you/would use are made of metal (as its the only material we know that is useable so far, which makes sense to be fair). We know Brandon can be very coy and Aes Sedai like sometimes when answering questions and any direct questions on the matter have been RAFO'd as I'm sure you're aware, and to me in that WoB, he is answering the question within the parameters set by the questioner and not confirming it outright.
  4. @Spicker it wasn't so much as red eyes, but I seem to recall in book one of the characters mention a hateful look (not paranoid/suspicious) in his eyes at one point, which is why I found it suspect. I'll need to search the books again, because i it did find strange, as I was reminded of Papa Davar's behaviour when I read it. It may have been when Elhokar and Dalinar were speaking at one time
  5. In Papa Davar's case though, that actually started after Mama Davar's death. I would say it broke him, which made cracks in the soul, allowing for Odium's influence, as mentioned a few times by his slightly red eyes/hateful-wrathful behaviour; which, IIRC, Elhokar also displayed once or twice. As for the Ghostbloods being under Odium's influence, I would disagree. They're a Cosmere society, made up world-hopper's from a variety of Shardworlds. We know Iyatil has SoScad heritage but wasn't necessarily raised on Scadrial (rumoured to be Silverlight I think). Mraize is a little harder to guess. Of all their limited screen time, we've yet to see any of their behaviour link to Odium's doing; after all, they find out Shallan is a Radiant and yet don't kill her
  6. @ccstat I forgot about that part. I agree that it could be and most likely was, Cultivation. She is far better at Future sight than Honour was so the detail could have been added. We also don't know if Honour crafted these visions alone or if he had asked Cultivation for a little help with the last one maybe. It is bears mentioning that as Dalinar increases his bond with the Storm father, he may simply be able to do more than just rewind a reposition himself in these visions. We do know she is still resisting/fighting Odium in some fashion or anoither , despite having given up on humanity, but perhaps she hadn't given up on the Surgrbinders/Radiants quite yet. Whether she is able to do much, either by choice or otherwise, that little bit at the end may be all she can do.
  7. Lest we forget Adolin actually fought a war for survival virtually days before so not only had he been put through physical torment as displayed by his injuries, but psychological as well given all of the death and destruction raging around at time. Being a fair bit rattled at someone who not only has betrayed and abandoned you and your loved ones on several previous occasions, but to then actually threaten to continue to do so with open promises on their lives and reputations for no logical reasons other than greed and spite, I wouldn't call it murder that's for sure. Sadeas knew the games he was playing, he just chose the wrong time to make his move. Alethi culture is different to our own, where Daes Dae'mar is rife due to being actively encouraged providing you're smart enough to get away with it and cover your tracks. Sadeas was practically a hydra that would have spiralled out of control had he not been neutralised or pacified. As for Jasnah and Shallan, I support their actions equally so
  8. The only reason it'll die is due to bad show running and/or scriptwriting. For me that was Capaldi's downfall; he was a good Doctor, but there's only so far acting chops can take if you lack the proper support from the higher ups
  9. I would agree with this, and go a little further. We know that the 10 Orders are mixtures of Cultivation and Honour, and that they're on a spectrum of sorts; as well as that Spren are representations of natural and biological phenomenon (I believe in book or via WoB they're generally classified into two groups: Emotion and Nature, but I may be misremembering this bit) If the above part is true, then perhaps one could venture that the singular spren for each Surge associated with an Order fits into one of those two types ex. Windrunners = Honourspren > Windspren and Bondspren. Granted, you could argue that as the wind is a natural weather phenomenon as well, the above hypothesis doesn't work; however, given that Cognitive perception is a major influence on Roshar, humanity's perception of Windspren has shaped them to be mischievous, tricksy, gleeful and flighty (hah), you could counterpoint that counterpoint. It is also should be noted that as Windspren have a tendency to stick people's feet or objects to things that they may have a slight dominion over Bondspren so perhaps that should be Honourspren > Windspren > Bondspren? Thoughts? I may have try pm Brandon reddit about this, see if I can get an answer, I'm curious now
  10. i do like that line of thinking @maxal it would be an interesting road to go down
  11. 2 more points: Firstly, the storm part. Remember both the Everstorm and the Stormfather's Highstorm collided into each other like two waves meeting to become a bigger wave so given that Highstorms are plenty big already, the two combined would probably have been seen by some of the far off cities. It was also plenty strong enough to rip up plateaus from the ground (also remember this is globe/continent spanning weather phenomenon, perhaps someone should ask how big Roshar is compared to our continents to get an idea, I imagine it as about 3x the size of Australia.) Secondly, Squires and distance. I imagine there is some leeway in regards to distance but I believe it may or may not depend on whether Kaladin is Surgebinding or not. We see Kaladin falling in style to stop Dadinar dying and its mentioned that some of the Bridge 4 guys were glowing a little bit (interestingly enough, they were protecting Dalinar and as a side note like someone already mentioned before, Lopen was protecting Elhokar) so it may just depend on whether Kaladin is actively accessing his bond or; on 2 factors; if they act in accordance to the Order's Ideals, and proximity to the Radiant (granted, this may be circumstantial). I imagine that they can inhale Storm light regardless, providing they're upholding the Ideals, and maybe access 1 of the two Surges when close to Radiant (we never actually saw Lopen use Adhesion at the end of WoR, just inhaling Stormlight)
  12. That I know, but it seems to me like Nergaoul hijacked/created its own spin them; after all, The Unmade were presumably the Parshendi gods to begin with so
  13. Rereading the blackthorn chapter again made me think of something; The Thrill seems to be an alteration/alternate take of the Rhythms so I wonder if its a very limited way for humans to attune to them...as I remember either in WoK or WoR, that two types of Thrill were mentioned; one of battle and another of something else
  14. I wouldn't say strictly a girl's name, as my best mate has a brother called robin. Predominantly a girl's name, yes but not strictly...which is ironic considering one of our famous folktale heroes was named robin and is (presumed to be) male.....unless *tinfoilhat* Robin of the Hood was actually a woman...and maid Maria-n was actually a bloke in drag that would make for an interesting story actually
  15. Fierce Deity Sword from Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Green Destiny from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Brisingr from The Inheritance saga Sword of Greyskull from Masters of the Universe
  16. Thrall/Go'el from Warcraft, but more his WoW incarnation
  17. I would venture Ruin was too focussed on his plan for destroying Scadrial to even consider looking for Good, unless he started causing mayhem, but I don't doubt he can cloak himself somehow, I mean he's hiding from someone on Roster (presumably Cultivation)
  18. @Extesian b-b-but...idioms are awesome :\
  19. I'm rather particular to Derek Walcott's Love After Love at the moment
  20. Ah cool, I did find it strange given the (what can be called relative timeline) as it seemed odd to have Lucifer descend yet still have access to Eden (whether or not he was the snake exempt)
  21. I have a question for anyone versed in genesis/pre-eden if anyone can answer it When Lucifer rebelled/was cast out/etc, was this before or after Eve and Adam's creation?
  22. I would draft if I could make it there but alas :\
  23. Gah, London in December?! When I'm in Oz?! Much sads
