  1. First question; I don't think this has been asked before so go for it! The second one may be a little trickier as the only way we've seen anyone wield the surges is through a Spren bond or an Honourblade, so perhaps ask if there's a way to wield/use the Surges without the use of a blade or bond, and if so, could it be spiked away I cannot really answer this one as there is still too much about Haemalurgy we don't know. I would say Odium would be able to provide the Intent for Haemalurgy (not certain of), as well as control a spiked Rosharan (or someone with a lot of Connections to Odium)
  2. So I have returned from my travels with an idea of what I wish to do with my life (travel more) and have decided to re-train to be an engineer to further help that goal....but lo and behold, it is so storming hard due to a plethora of reasons. Australia, take me back please
  3. I actually lol'd. Kudos
  4. I can imagine @Chaos channeling his inner he-man whenever he is required to ban something, calling out "By the power of myself/Branderson/Banjo/Banjulhu, I...HAVE...THE POOOOOWEEER!!!" and holding aloft a miniature hammer as he smites the offending post/topic. As for Ookla season, when is the appointed hour and day? I already have a couple of options i can use
  5. I would argue for either Kal or Shall, purely because it's Dalinar's book.
  6. Getting revenge for his buddies, Aona and Skai. I fear Hoid would do far worse than just punching Rayse in the face
  7. @WhiteLeeopard @Calderis It was the impression I was getting from the chapter, that it had been bound there by the previous Lightweaver. I'll give the chapter a re-read as that was how I read it. As for the lack of jumpy-ness, Shallan does say that whilst centuries have passed, the trapping was fairly recent for it. But as I said, i'll give it re-read. I am also of the impression that the pillar is a battery, but I am curious about how it would transport the light. (the strata make sense) EDIT: on a re-read, I see what you both mean. I am curious though; It believed imprisonment was presumed impossible and unexpected, so I wonder if it was done via Dawnshard or another method. And given how centuries upon centuries (and not millennia) had passed, I would venture it was done near or before the Recreance, as that's about 1500+/- years give or take, if I'm reading jofwu's timeline correctly. I wonder if she was ordered to guard the pillar of if she just wandered there.
  8. We saw that Re-Shephir was bound by the Gem pillar, but could still send out spren, her essence so to speak, so I wonder if her previous imprisonment was to the same capacity as this one, meaning was she fully bound and could do nothing or only partially bound and able to send out spren. Nice work Calderis! We don't know if was trapped in Urithiru although I would venture there was a traitor somewhere, a there was that in-world WOR excerpt where the Orders had to deal with one of their own.
  9. damnation I am so hyped for this book right. I agree that the chapter's will probably be Kaladin and then a Dalinar flashback, as the end of Parts typically end like so. First thoughts; I agree that the mural is depicting worldhopping, but I predict it is when humanity first arrived on Roshar (whether it was Tanavast that first brought them or pre-shattering) so the guy could either be Tanavast or President A itself. Also note, the Skyfather and Earthmother are huge themes from old religions around the world that Brandon seems to have used for inspiration for SA, as represented by Honour/Cultivation with the Stormfather/presumably Nightwatcher and the cloud/tree symbolism. I wonder if we'll ever get a scene with Dalinar on the roof talking to the Stormfather and Taravangian makes an appearance, would be fascinating to see if the Stormfather makes a comment on Mr T bearing the Nightwatcher's touch. Kinda hoping he bonds the Nightwatcher but we'll see. Glad Renarin is coming into his own and out of his shell more. These Storm vision scenes are going to be awesome.....two weeks is too far away!
  10. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=1052 As i said, ambiguous
  11. There is also the ambiguous WoB about whether Nohadon is still alive
  12. The author is also an adult. Unless these are from a currently young character in the future, i would hazard a guess this book is written by Nohadon again or perhaps the Sunmaker. We may get an inkling either next week or week after
  13. On the topic of Ishar looking all cult-ish, lets not forget that the attributes associated with Bondsmiths are Pious and Guiding...so perhaps Dandos may painted this with those qualities in mind then, but now it (to us more knowledgeable folk) it could easily be interpreted as the other side of the coin
  14. Actually, depending on the subject, context and length of the questions; as well on Brandon's answers and the length of the line, you can usually ask around 3-5. -If you're asking a Realmatic interaction/how-would-said-magic-work-if-blahblah-and-blahblah-were-present/used and so on type question, it mainly depends on how technical you're getting, which could eat into your time. -Lore-centric questions tend to near RAFO - Read And Find Out - territory (due to spoilers) but it depends on how far into the past or future you're veering toward and what exactly it is you wish to know, at least where the Cosmere is concerned. Most current events aren't too off-limits but you'll have to figure that out yourself. -General writing/process/inspiration questions are encouraged as he doesn't usually get a huge amount of these, at least when compared to the other types of questions Also, if you have questions already but aren't sure if it's the right wording, or if you're stuck for questions, feel free to ask any of us for some help or ideas and we'd be happy to help, especially if the wording is an issue as, prior warning, if you leave Brandon a lot of wiggle room he may answer your question, but just not how you wish he would. (the key trick here is to leave just a little bit of wiggle room, especially if you feel it may be a little too RAFO-y, so try to be just vague enough without being too specific :P) Hope this helps any of you folks out and will happily see you there, probably hugging my copy of Oathbringer like Gollum!
  15. I view the Beatles as just ok, some catchy songs but otherwise meh. Accepted is an amazing movie!
  16. Shallash is stunning...Radiant even.. i'm sorry please don't hurt me
  17. I wish i had more friends to do this with, but mine haven't read Brandon Sanderson nor do they read often as they're either working or gaming.
  18. Forbidden Planet is amazing! The SoS tour was incredible. I recommend at least an hour....cause the queue last time long...and i was near to the front...
  19. The wise/old-sage-finds-young-obscure-hero/prophesied one-in-backwater-locale is a fairly common trope. Inheritance > LotR as it has dragons
  20. As a woman/human/Cognitive Shadow, she can dress however she pleases
  21. Let's look at this logically (and with some minor spoilers for Cosmere references and a little higher than that for Sixth of the Dusk) Here is what we know of Mraize/Roshar from a purely SA perspective Mraize is a prominent member, possibly primary/secondary leader of the aloof, mysterious Ghostbloods, who as of these latest chapters have revealed to be scheming for power - a LOT of power - perhaps both Investiture-related as well as influence but I believe they want this power for a particular goal. Iyatil is his (current) master, but we don't quite know what she's training him in. He likes to collect objects like trophies, which are clearly important to him in some fashion. Chicken-Birds aren't common Rosharan Wildlife (to my recollection at least), and if i had to hazard a guess, are most likely to be found in Shinovar if anywhere...probably. However, this bird could merely be a pet of his and just had it with him for reasons at this meeting. Ghostbloods seem to use espionage primarily for information gathering, with a little stabby-stabby if the situation calls for that, so I would expect Mraize to be somewhat adept at disguising himself if he needs to do the job himself or needs to meet with important figures, hence why he's wearing a Sadeas uniform. Also, given this newly discovered directive, I would also expect them to use any edge they could to get what they want. Now for some minor Cosmere spoilers + a little supposition and mild-medium Sixth of the Dusk
  22. Apologies for being a part of those that spoiled it. It really should have been mentioned under spoiler tags, so you're not at fault! (We should all know better, for shame!) So apologies again! (All the more incentive to read Sixth of the Dusk!)
  23. Terry Brooks Gave up on Terry Goodkind, I see a bit of a pattern :o..
  24. Ghostbloods are intriguing, as their end game is shrouded in fog. And i would say that is almost 100% an Aviar. I'm in the minority camp that believes it wasn't actually Helaran that was killed (will happily take it back if proven wrong :P) This...phenomena in Urithiru, could it be linked to the strata? They looks like visual representation of a kind a corruption of the rocks. (Naturally occuring aside) I'm intrigued as to why/how his suspected voidspren has gained so much cognitive awareness in the physical. Could it be she's linked/tenuously bonded to the ground itself? I'm eager to see Mr T's plan for Urithiru, as from what little we do know of the Diagram, Urithiru hasn't been mentioned much
  25. Aye I figured. I'm typically trying to think up annoyingly fun combos to annoy my friends with whenever we do play magic (however rarely) as my token deck 0.1 (back when I bought the RTR Selesnya event deck) originally had 2 Parallel lives in (and i figured the effect stacked then) so if they were playing the wrong deck and had no board wipes, the tokens got out of control quite quickly. (My friend's mono black zombie deck is the same, although much more annoying). (Sprouting I was only thinking really if I had any of the token doublers in conjunction with the above combo). Currently working on my mill deck...and damnation do I hate being a bit more well informed about the nuances of how to play Mana curve, Spell timing, Creatures vs Spells vs Static BF permanents, Spell/Mana allocation percentage. I mean, they tell you about it at the start, but knowing something and actually understanding it (even beginning to) are two different things
