...I might be in the only camp that feels Shallan was done well. Her story has resonated with me since WoR (mainly due to going through similar scenarios myself, relatively speaking of course). With her and Adolin's scene of him recognising her, I see it as her drawing from an anchor a la a close friend - someone she trusts - more than a romantic thing. I don't think most of the issues people have raised would have occurred had Shallan not had access to Lightweaving (or at least not as big an issue as others have said). She's definitely on the right track to healing, but she still has a fair way to go. Wit's advice was pretty sound

Newcastle will probably be less packed than London. The SoS signing was pretty busy but I got a fairly close spot in line (and this was years ago so I can't remember what time I left for). I'll be in a TeeTurtle t-shirt and a slouch beanie so feel to drop me a fistbump/high-five or even a yarn/chat cause Harmony knows i need more Cosmere-versed friends/acquaintances!

Switch all the way. I love me some Nintendo Skyrim! -
Great job folks! Dalinar sticking it to Odium reminded me of Gandalf and the Balrog! And Jasnah soulcasting was total badchull! Taln needs more screen time stat!

[OB] The third Bondsmith and Urithiru
ParadoxicalZen replied to FirstSelector's topic in Stormlight Archive
I recall a line from the later parts about the "of the Spren, the Wind and the Stone". (can someone with the e-book check this please?, my mind is still reeling from finishing the hardback) I took the Wind and Stone part to mean the Stormfather and Nightwatcher and the Spren to mean that the Sibling was representative of them. I originally had thought it was located in/under Urithiru but I'm liking the idea that it IS Urithiru more. -
[OB] - The Cosmeric implications of Oathbringer's ending
ParadoxicalZen replied to rdog2213's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think he may have acted as the conduit, representing the Physical, as we know Investiture flows from the Spiritual > Cognitive > Physical. It is a fascinating concept- 69 replies

theory [OB] Unsurprisingly, Feather wants to talk Renarin
ParadoxicalZen replied to FeatherWriter's topic in Stormlight Archive
Also don't forget that the shared Surges work differently for each Order, so it might be that he is accessing Illumination, just not in an obvious way.- 86 replies

Where they first learned how to bind Spren, and we know perfect cut gems can even hold an Unmade. Maybe the Aimians were the only ones to be able to make perfect cut gems? hmm

[OB] Which death took you most by surprise?
ParadoxicalZen replied to dantlee's topic in Stormlight Archive
Agreed on Eshonai as most surprising, but Elhokar as the one that hits hard the most.... It actually reminded me a lot of late Era 1 Mistborn -
True, but we can't be sure that the comet spren is a major or minor Order spren (flimsy I know) only that it is important to an Order. Although I could see Rlain being a Windrunner; a rather quiet and brooding one but he seems like he would suit falling in style.

What's Rlain, chopped chouta?

What Ulem/im talks about near the end, when it's sarcastically berating Venli for her lack of knowledge and her assumption that she thinks she's going to be Queen. It mentions the Parshendi ancestors are the ones in charge so the only feasible way that any of Parshendi ancestors could still be around is if they managed to stick around after they died (i.e. becoming a Cognitive Shadow is one way).
-
Wait...so the spren that the Parshendi bonded for stormform, is to ?Ulim/Ulem? as Windspren are to Honourspren? Did I hear that right? And wow, talk about a sucker punch, I wasn't expecting that So the Parshendi ancestors....any bets on them being possibly either Cognitive Shadows or secretly hiding? It doesn't make sense for the Unmade to be them, as the ancestors are apparently the best strategists in history whereas the Unmade have very little sapience

Semantics or confirmation of another shard?
ParadoxicalZen replied to The Invested Beard's topic in Stormlight Archive
I would say Brandon interpreted that as the system and not the planet. Lets not forget, that if the questioner doesn't really specify and kind of expects Brandon to make the distinction, then more often than not he'll probably assume otherwise (cause of timing, line etc., not to mention wiggle room). Nor the fact that we've had via WoB that only 3 Shards are present in the Rosharan area What is the Arcanum you speak of @The Invested Beard? I'm intrigued -

[OB] The Creation of Unmade
ParadoxicalZen replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
Given the Unmade are Fused/Parshendi/Listener Gods, I would venture that perhaps they may be the OG Dawnsingers (once known as kindly spren) as @Calderis suggests and were eventually Unmade by Odium (it would explain Tanavast's comment about not having the Dawnsinger's any more) or that they were first bonded to a Listener and then Unmade. (It all depends on how you interpret the Listener song) -
I loved Korg! But I love Kiwi humour Also, looks like there's room for one more in that hot tub. Loki, despite how muc of pain he is, I will always have a soft spot for. Especially if they bring in the fact he can change his gender too.

Random Stuff X: Something Weird
ParadoxicalZen replied to soyperson's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Mechanical/Electrical. So, I return to the UK just after the College term starts and miss the start date for the course. Then the Job Centre tells me i'm unlikely to get an apprenticeship due to my age being just over the age range they give apprenticeships out to (18-24). Who knew? So my only option at the moment is to find some entry level work placement that trains you on the job, however...the employment system moves a lot slower here than what i've become accustomed to* in Australia, especially* as a backpacker. So i'm disheartened, but i'm not letting that stop me EDIT: damnation my English was hella terribad yesters
