The only male romantic lead that comes to mind is Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. Have neither read the book or watched any of the adaptations, so someone can tell me if I'm wrong and he doesn't meet the criteria. jW

Agreed overall. I could definitely see Eshonai's perspective being last instead, but we do seem to have gotten a fair bit of the Parshendi view of what happened, so that may not be likely. jW

Why didn't Kaladin take the shard plate?
Jondesu replied to soulcastJam's topic in Stormlight Archive
But we know they can command parts to loosen and come off (Adolin and I think Dalinar both do that). I bet they can command the visor to go opaque or transparent at least, since it's likely just unconscious commands the way it works now. jW -
Medallions are similar in this area to Soul Stamps, @Yata, because they are applied to someone without their own magic to use. A ferrying could change their own Connection, sure, but with a medallion, like with a stamp, someone else's Connection can be changed. jW

Why didn't Kaladin take the shard plate?
Jondesu replied to soulcastJam's topic in Stormlight Archive
I would guess so. Also, I wonder if some of the tricks Shardplate could do just aren't done because no one knows how. The visor turns transparent, or opaque when needed (like with the lightning); I wonder if someone who knew it was possible could command the entire helm to go transparent. jW -
I would expect Gavilar's perspective in either Dalinar's book, or Eshonai's. She was one who voted to assassinate him based on him boasting he would bring back their gods; I want to see that conversation from both of their perspectives. jW

I heard explained not too long ago that Biblical prophecy is often understood to have up to three meanings in many cases: The immediate application, usually metaphorical, aimed at political leaders or the people as a whole in many cases, though sometimes directed to a specific individual. The spiritual guidance it provides, which isn't time-dependent at all. The future events being prophesied (this is the one we usually think of). So that would explain some of why it seems to be vague and could apply to many things. It's also sometimes not meant to be fully understood or exactly predict events (though some prophecies do, obviously), so it can often end up seeming to apply to many things. It depends largely on why the prophecy was given. EDIT: Prophecy in the Bible is a term for a message from God, not necessarily a prediction of future events. The meaning of the word has changed over time. Wikipedia gives a pretty good definition: jW

Because of the way Duralumin works, it could only boost other magic systems the person burning the Duralumin is actively using. That limits the likelihood we'll see it used that way significantly, since it would probably require Hemalurgy or medallions to even have a chance of happening. jW

Can someone in the Beyond affect the Physical Realm?
Jondesu replied to Stranker's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Impossible until Kelsier goes there and tries it, you mean, right? jW -

D'oh, I was trying to say Numbers 1-10, not letters. :-P I'll reuse that one later, you of course answered the question I actually posed. I'll let someone else handle your challenge. jW

Nahel bond - effects on spren and Surgebinder
Jondesu replied to Oversleep's question in Cosmere Q&A
That also implies to me that the Spren wanted more physical presence, and humans could provide that since they weren't already so close to the Cognitive (meaning the balance point of the bonds resulted in the spren being pulled farther into the Physical Realm). jW- 11 replies

I have an alternative theory. After all, GRRM has shown a tendency to shy away from the predictable, even, IMO, when it would be the better story choice. Keep in mind I read the books primarily, and have just watched clips of things that weren't in the books, like a lot of this season. I object to a lot of the content they show, so I wouldn't be watching the full episodes, and could have missed things because of that. jW

I was thinking of his fight alongside Jakamav against the Parshendi, then of course the big duel, but I think you're right. jW

Lol, no worries, that makes more sense. Not sure who I'd put as Keeper, but I'd stick Adolin in a Beater position maybe (though he might be too honorable now). Edit: Wasn't really your fault anyways, @sheep did say keeper, so I guess I'm really disagreeing with him. I get the lashings would help, but probably even more to drag in the Snitch. jW

Wait, Kaladin as Keeper? And I don't see that as the most important position (equal to the Seeker maybe, but not solely most important). Kaladin "The winds are mine" Stormblessed should be the Seeker I'd think. jW

cosmere Cosmere Theory and Gedankenexperiments [Spoilers]
Jondesu replied to Necarion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Brandon would probably wiggle around that by saying there'd be power loss converting it to another magic system. jW -
Working on Aftermath, which is another Star Wars book (part of the Journey to the Force Awakens set). Not nearly as good quality as Lost Stars, though still an interesting story. I thought it was the same author at first, and wondered when she'd gotten so much worse. Good thing it's not. Also started In the Hall of the Dragon King, but I've had a hard time sticking with it. jW

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Jondesu replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
Just came from counseling. Wanted to get up and walk out the entire time (no specific reason, just a constant urge). He and my wife both seemed to talk a lot about how I seem like I'm more positive and engaged in what's going on, but my head is screaming at me SO WHY DO YOU STILL FEEL SO BAD! Done. jW -
You need to get people to pay you to joke about them ending up with Emma Watson or Summer Glau or Josh Hutcherson. You could bank serious money if it works. jW

Yeah, I think it's all regular swords and no Shards. I like that potential interpretation, @hwiles, it's not in line with current Alethi mentality (like the Codes themselves), and that makes me think in this context it's perhaps even more likely. jW

I would have expected that to be scrubbed in the Hierocracy if so. Would surprise me if something like that slipped through when so little else did. jW

I didn't think anyone was debating that fact? jW
