How exactly do you propose to trap him in the first place? Good luck even getting him in a situation for gas or fire to be tested (and no, I very much doubt impenetrable skin would burn, and gas fails if he doesn't need to breath). jW

Gotcha, the poster you were replying to was referencing Autonomy being the one Odium splintered, so I got mixed up. NP. jW -
unknown shards We haven't known Trell yet
Jondesu replied to Sam Script's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I read that WoB completely different. We know Odium splintered Honor, Dominion, and Devotion. He's saying there's one other Shard that we don't know has been splintered. Not that we don't know of the Shard. jW -
Nope, the WoB doesn't confirm any such thing. All he said is they're not from Nalthis. That could mean they're from Roshar but there's something he found good about the purpose of the question, or that they're from another world, but it absolutely doesn't confirm that they're not from Roshar. jW

unknown shards We haven't known Trell yet

If the grudge was because of something they both did in the past and Hoid is acting against them and seeking to undo whatever they did, he could still be perpetuating that grudge, even though one of them is no longer alive. Also, it's possible (though admittedly unlikely from what we know of him) that Hoid simply doesn't know that Bavadin is dead. I think it's a very interesting idea, but we don't really have any evidence for it that I know of (I haven't gotten a chance to get White Sand yet, so I don't know if it contains any more details). The WoB says Odium shattered one more Shard than we know about, not that we don't know about the Shard itself. We don't know that Autonomy has been shattered; so it could definitely fit the criteria there. jW -

I think it was at least almost on par so far, I'm about halfway through. I don't have high opinions of Arrow and Flash for acting/script, though, so I wasn't expecting top notch. All 3 are entertaining despite that, though. :-) jW

I suspect the Heralds are or are bonded to some type of Splinter of Honor, but since we can see that the "natural" form of a splinter on Roshar seems to be a spren, there's obviously more to it than that. The Honorblades are a huge part of that, but possibly not all of it, since Taln seems enhanced even without his blade. We don't know if the Heralds retain a bond to their blade no matter what, though, which is one theory I've seen (and it has a lot of merit). jW
-
Yeah, it was more just to point out that there's freaky weather patterns on other planets. jW
-
Are they any more unnatural than Jupiter's Red Spot, though? A massive, unending storm that circles the planet isn't incomprehensible. Keep in mind the geography of Roshar is insane: a single continent set in a massive sea, no other land on the rest of the planet so far as we know. With those conditions, nothing would ever completely stop a storm like that, even if the part over land broke as it does. It might be of magical origin, but I'm not convinced it absolutely must be. jW

Just finished watching The Shannara Chronicles. It reminded me of Legend of the Seeker, but the acting wasn't as good. (Those of you who saw Legend of the Seeker will know why that's worse than it sounds.) Still, interesting enough for me to finish the season, and it did give an interesting perspective on Terry Brooks' future fantasy setting, which is very unique. jW

I have the first half of that, but not the second. jW

Connection is still largely a mystery to us. I mean, it was only fairly recently we really learned even one instance of what storing/tapping or otherwise changing Connection would actually do, and we don't really know how Connection forms or why some people would be connected to a particular Shard. Obviously there are some strong indications like with Kelsier, but all those do is illustrate how little we really understand about the Realmatics of how that works. jW

Gavilar's Black Sphere theories
Jondesu replied to Assassin in Burgundy's topic in Stormlight Archive
There's a WoB stating that anyone who did what Szeth has done would hear the screams, which leads me to believe there's no connection to Yelig-bar. Brandon could have been being tricky though, and saying "Anyone who touched that sphere (which is something Szeth has done) would hear the screams." There was a tiny bit of wiggle room. jW -
What's interesting to me is I never considered the Curse of Kind to be referring to anything magical at all. I always assumed it was the Aimian philosophical way of saying "Bad stuff happens to us because of who we are." Despite all the other magic in the story, that never seemed like magic to me. jW

You know you're addicted to the 17th Shard when you create a topic called "You Know You're Addicted To 17th Shard When…" You know you're addicted to the 17th Shard when you check unread posts more often than Facebook. jW -
The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!

You're just talented. That's impressive reading speed, and I read very fast. jW -
Not just that, but Odium is of great interest and concern to the rest of the Cosmere I'm sure, so people from other worlds who are Cosmere-aware will naturally be observing and/or interfering depending on how much they know and what their goals are. jW

It seems to me she often doesn't grant the requested boon. Whoever it is that we hear talking about it says she listens to your request, but then gives you what she thinks you deserve, and a bane to go with it. jW

I don't doubt it. It's more my own life that's bogging me down anyways, and I've had trouble reading at all sometimes lately. jW

@sheep, I personally picture Kaladin about 6'2", not crazy tall but just enough that he sticks out on the battlefield a little. Muscular, but not bodybuilder muscular, more like a classic tough bodyguard maybe. Not top heavy, all muscles in the arms but skinny in the legs, but more well balanced and just...powerful looking. I don't think anyone would look at him and want to pick a fight, at least when he's not looking like a slave. I remember how easily he stood down the soldier who tried to take the bridgemen's water. You don't do that if you're not at all physically imposing, even if you're no Ahnold. jW

Tried to start Dune while my other books are on hold. So far not feeling into it that much, but I'm only a chapter or two in so far, so I'll keep going. I know it's a classic, but I don't always like the classics. jW

Ooh, yummy. That's what I've been concluding myself anyways, nice to have confirmation. Sustained fire would still be a danger, I'm sure, but with how fast they move, that'd be hard to accomplish. jW
