Strongly simplified Star Wars timeline: Republic is formed Republic reaches the height of it's power Republic gets defeated, replaced by the Empire (Prequel Trilogy) Empire is in power (SW 4,5) Empire falls (SW 6) New Republic starts rebuilding (between SW 6,7) The First Order becomes a threat, starts conflicts with the New Republic (SW 7) Personally, I would recommend the era immediately after SW6 and the Battle of Endor. You can get a 'power vacuum' in which numerous parties try to set up, and the formation of the First Order. The problem with that is that if more details are released then the RP might be made very obviously uncanon.

That is usually what happens when the CSS doesn't load properly. Asides from a dodgy internet connection, I don't know what might cause that. Is it just the Shard, or does it happen to other sites as well? And does it happen on another browser (if you don't have another browser on your computer, never mind.)

Hmmm... Can I just say, that in a Chrome v. Firefox battle, Chrome has better ease of access, while Firefox has greater security. Except, I'm sick of forced security measures, so I use Chrome. I see nothing wrong with that image of IE (Edge is slightly better, in the same way that Mussolini was slightly better than Hitler)

Based on the pitch that Brandon posted, I can almost imagine a Rick Riordan-ish style of writing and humour. But that's just me. I'd be interested to see where Brandon takes it. I'm sure all of you picking up this book now expect something awesome to happen. I get sucked into an alternate dimension? Awesome! There are no less than 17 attempts to murder me in a variety of ways? Why on earth couldn't that happen to me! But, trust me. I'm the coffee lady. And, fun as it might sound, there weren't any clauses about getting shot at, beaten up, or being abandoned on a doomed planet when I signed up for this. Long story short: Don't become a coffee lady to a dimensional shifting organization. If ever you see an ad for it in the paper, flick over and look at that ad next to it about being an accountant. Trust me, you'll regret it if you don't. But, you're not going to believe me. This is just a piece of fiction to you. You'll read it, and at the end, you'll speak to all your friends about how fun it was to read about everything I went through, and then completely forget about it. You know what? Fine. See if I care. Go ahead: Read the story of how I became the first dimensional shifting coffee lady.

I don't know whether I heard it here before. If I did, I apologize for rehashing the joke. Anyway... Food for thought: If Sanders becomes President, he'll be the first non Christian president. If Clinton becomes President, she'll be the first female president. If Rubio becomes President, he'll be the first Hispanic president. If Cruz becomes President, he'll be the first non-US born president. And if Trump becomes President, he'll be the last American president.

Well, the pronunciation is only strange to English speakers. In most European languages (which the Rosharan language is 'a lot closer to') the 'J' is pronounced with a 'Y' sound. Likewise, a word in a strange language doesn't necessarily relate. Even if this were a well known word in a well known language, it still might be an accident (and let's face it, this is far from that). In fact, he did this very thing in the Mistborn series, with Elend and Straff. Elend in German means misery, and Straff in German means... from memory, it's 'tight'. In addition, the Cosmere doesn't have any form of Earth. So any names that mean something like this don't have an in-world explanation, and are merely easter eggs for the readers (and to the best of my knowledge, Brandon hasn't done this with any of his Cosmere stories.)

I would recommend the Random Stuff or Creation Daily threads for this...

Good news. I've managed to get my school library to buy Sanderson books! (even though it's only Stormlight and the Mistborn Trilogy for now) So, I may have (indirectly) converted more people at my school to Sanderson! It's only a matter of time now before he becomes world leader (because that's how it works, right?)

It all depends on whether or not you classify Steelheart losing his powers as an 'attack'. If you don't, then his abilities wouldn't activate.
