Secret Societies of Roshar: A Comprehensive Guide
Unhinged replied to Shardcellist's topic in Stormlight Archive
One more group that might be worthy of note is the ring, the group that Wyndle mentioned. We don't know anything about them other than that they seem to be a group of spren who instructed Wyndle to bond Lift. Not sure if they qualify as a full blown society or not but I for one find the idea of a society of spren very interesting.- 24 replies

I wouldn't go that far, there are only a couple hundred shardblades on Roshar that can be used by anyone and any other blades could only be wielded by Radiants who would not be very likely to use them for ill. Also WOB says that nightblood is even stronger than a normal shardblade so Vasher did manage to keep an especially dangerous living weapon out of common hands.

"My name is David Charlston I kill goats with superpowers." Some Radiant oaths Goat before Death, Goat before weakness, Goat before destination. I will put the goat before all else. I will unite instead of divide, I will bring goats together. I will remember goats who have been forgotten I will protect goats who cannot protect themselves. I will protect even goats I hate so long as it is right.

The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!

It's warm, sunny, I've got the day off, I'm sitting in my hammock and I've just started a stormlight archive reread... If there's more to life then this i'm not sure what it is. -
Another theory that's been floating around is that David's power is the ability to steal other Epic powers which could explain how Prof was still able to give him a massive dose of power despite David being an epic. Also I think there's a WOB that confirms that powers like this do exist but I'm not sure.

House Kholin, Knights of the Imperium
Unhinged replied to Heir of the Void's topic in Stormlight Archive
Be warned Games workshop's prices have always been high but recently they've gone way above what the average consumer can afford. If you plan to start again I recommend hitting E-bay. On top of that last I heard they were in serious financial trouble and the hobby might not be around for much longer. Also Heir of the Void, this is an awesome idea and I hope you'll give us some picks once you've finished.- 3 replies

Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
Unhinged replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
Well my computer is on it's last legs, it's crashed three times in the past week (seriously I have no Idea how it stayed on long enough for me to post this) so there's a huge chunk of the money I'd saved to start my business down the drain replacing it. My Xbox 360 is breaking down too and none of the stores have one that'll take my external hard drive so I've got to order one online and wait weeks for delivery or loose all my saved games and DLC (on a slightly positive note this did end up being about 20$ cheaper). -
Possible, but if the MAG's right then why does Brandon keep RAFOing every Nicrosil related question?
-
Oh god I can't stop laughing.
-
here you go I don't think it's 100% confirmed yet but Brandon certainly seems to be leaning towards Dalinar
-
This has happened to all of us at least once well enough time wasted here back to the Mistborn page to resume checking.

Ok first off there are a couple of different theories flying around the 17th shard right now that I’m almost positive that I haven’t seen them all or if I have I haven’t read them all the way through so If I’ve come up with the same idea as someone else I’m sorry. Now the Mistborn adventure game says that Soulbearer Ferrings store their deepest inner parts in their metalminds most of us here on the 17th shard have assumed that this means they can store their innate Investiture in their metal minds. My theory is about what they do with the Investiture once it’s been stored. Now to start we know that humans on Scadrial have Investiture from both Ruin and Preservation, this means that they have two separate sources of Investiture that they can store. My idea is that once the Investiture has been stored in a metalmind it can be taped and used in its pure state. Using Preservations Investiture would allow the Ferring to become a sort of temporary Mistborn but they don’t need any metals to act as the catalyst for Allomancy, they can tap into preservations power directly. See quote from the coppermind (important parts underlined) (Please note that I think that there is another way access preservation) But this comes at a cost, a Ferring only has so much innate Investiture and once it’s gone they either die as they accidentally store the spark of life or they turn into a supper destructive monster as they’ve run out of Preservations Investiture and are now left with only Ruins. Compounders might be able to get around this problem since they can burn Nicrosil Allomaticly using Preservation’s Investiture in order to create a near infinite supply for themselves (or they could just be able to boost other Allomancers see Twinborn bellow). On a more open note I have no idea what they would do with ruin’s Investiture other than store it and then throw away the metalminds to prevent their ever shrinking soul from going out of balance. Although they could store Investiture from both ruin and preservation in the same metalmind which would allow them to use Feruchemy, for example taping a Nicrosil metalmind and then using the investiture to say become stronger (in place of storing strength). For Twinborn I think that they could store whatever type of Allomatic powers they had. For example a steel/Nicrosil Twinborn could burn steel Allomaticly then store it in his metalminds instead of pushing on something. Later on if he ever runs out of steel he could just tap Nicrosil and start spraying coins. This wouldn’t grant any neat compounding effects, it would just let the Twinborn access his Allomancy in a different way. (Note that I don’t have any real proof for this part it just seemed like an effective way of balancing the abilities out instead of having every Twinborn with Nicrosil become as powerful as a Mistborn, which isn't something I can see Brandon doing). Other than the ability to use steel differently the Nicrosil Ferring would still be able to store and tap his or her Innate Investiture at will. Well that's the theory I hope you've enjoyed my mad ramblings and I acknowledge that most of this is guesswork and probably not true but I've given a lot of thought to this and I wanted to post it anyway. Now let the mad theory's commence.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)

Granted the executives screw around with every film he writes so it looks nothing like what he originally wrote or if it's a TV show they cancel it after one season. I wish annoying people would leave me alone. -

World misconceptions that are difficult to shift.
Unhinged replied to ljósmóður's topic in Stormlight Archive
For some reason I see the mists in Mistborn as being dark purple and my brain refuses to accept that they look any other way. Also I still see spheres as being the size of a baseball despite knowing how utterly impractical this would be. -

I've seen several cheep Bronze vases and statues for sale in an antique shop (this was a few years ago though) if you want any metals you could just go to a local scrapyard and ask. They probably have access to at least steel, iron and copper and I imagine that they could get you any of the base metals. Also not one of the base metals but I've seen Duralumin, Chromium and Cadmium used in jewelry and I imagine you could find any of the metals online.

Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
Unhinged replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
I just finished an eleven hour shift at work and just after I turned down the option to go home early I spilled semi boiling water on my hand and received one of the worst burns I've ever had (and I still had to finish my shift). So now I'm sitting at home typing with one hand and i thought I'd try to dull the pain with a drink, turns out that Alcohol thins out your blood and makes it hurt more since my hand is still getting blood despite being in Ice water. -
Am I the only person here who actually liked Moash? I mean he did go overboard by dragging Kaladin into his plans (I can't forgive him for that) but I can see why he did it. Hatred can eat you up inside, especially if you keep holding onto it and you can clearly see that the object of your hatred is not being punished by karma for his actions. So while I can't forgive Moash for letting himself be manipulated by Graves into getting Kaladin involved with his revenge I can agree with him trying to kill the king even if it would probably have some very negative repercussions. While she hasn't done anything that I truly despise yet I can't stand Eshonai her parts in WOR were some of the slowest and most boring in the book. but then again Shallan was just as boring in WOK but when she grew up and actually started to act for herself I really began to like her so there's hope for Eshonai yet.

Sorry, I worded that wrong I meant that there is really no difference in the power granted by the Honorblades and the power granted by a bonded spreen. While the lack of checks is useful it still doesn't really explain why Honorblades are considered greater, especially since whoever bonds one ends up using dangerous levels of stormlight.
