A stormlight chess set. Might be better later on in the series so we have more representatives of each order but the windrunners or stonewards could be the pawns (due to their numbers, not a commentary on the order), Could make the bondsmiths the King and or Queen (depending on who steps up later). Elsecaller and WIllshaper could be each knight. Bishop could be skybreaker and windrunner or dustbringer. Rook could be edgedancer and dustbringer or windrunner. Having trouble thinking of where the lightweavers and truthwatchers should go.

Apparently the same way you attract emotion spren: Questioner The Nahel bond, what determines whether you get a Cryptic or an honorspren? Brandon Sanderson The spren themselves. Questioner So it doesn't have to do with the Orders of the Knights Radiant? Brandon Sanderson If you match, you have to attract the spren, the same way you attract emotionspren, you have to attract the right spren for the Order.

Honestly I think it is like you said. Perception. Brandon perceives someone with a certain set of powers as a member of that radiant order. As in someone with transportation and transformation is an elsecaller. Just like we could potentially consider (Mistborn Spoilers): They didn't get the power the way others do, but if you were to name what they could do, you would call them a pewter misting/thug. At least that is a guess on his intention on my part.

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Pathfinder replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
As the articles you read mention, it is the quantities and type of sugar (as you said high fructose sugar) that causes the effect. The same thing happens when eating healthy and going back to a meal high in trans fat. I am not even talking doing a "cleanse" or anything. I mean eat healthy well prepared/cooked meals for a month or more. Then go to Mcdonalds and have a milk shake, or a big mac and see how you feel after. You feel hung over because your body is not used to processing that kind of stuff. I am not saying to change your life style, or all soda and McDonalds are evil. Just saying it does have an effect on a person's body, and that could be what you are experiencing. But at the end of the day, you know your body best, so I wish you luck. -
Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Pathfinder replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
In my experience, my wife's experience, and numerous friends who all cut coke completely out of their diets, and then once in a blue moon at a restaurant have one glass of soda with dinner, end up feeling nauseous after. Google it a bit. There are plenty of articles, though some conflict. If what I said doesn't feel right to you then to each their own, and I wish you luck finding the cause. (just in case that was not said in a sarcastic manner) -
Good point. Like you though I could see it going either way. On one hand it would be nice because then the opposite sex characters would not lose out on certain skills, but on the other hand, then the classes would lose their uniqueness (here is the female hero, here is the male priest, etc). Then again since class skills remain with the class, giving different combos like you said could keep the variety going. So who knows. Hopefully!

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Pathfinder replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
That is because american soda has too much sugar than what you are used to. Going without drinking soda for awhile causes you to lose weight, and your body get used to not have such large infusions of sugar. When you drink soda after going without it after so long, your body feels overwhelmed, and you feel nauseous because you are not used to it. -
For a little while people tried to get "soonie pups" to be a thing. Where you would have what looked like a stuffed puppy, but then turn it inside out and you would have a kandra/mistwraith to represent tensoon.

As you said, the Lord Ruler could theoretically just compound wakeness and never sleep, though Brandon has said sleeping carries other necessities other than just rest. Memory storage. Though one could say copper would handle that. I would need to dig, but I recall a WoB that said the only feruchemical ability you could store while sleeping is wakefullness, and even then because you were storing, you do not get a restful sleep, so you would still need to sleep after storing sleep lol. I will see if I can dig the WoB up

Lol my thoughts exactly. So far all the leaks are things I like, so I am happy lol. The only thing that has annoyed me so far, and this isn't concerning the leaks, is that certain classes are only female or male. I was already preparing Bernadetta in my head as a vantage low health build. She has a personal skill where if she does not have full health, she deals extra damage. So if some of the other skills carry over where the lower health you have, the greater your crit chance, or damage, then coupled with vantage she could be an absolute beast. Then I find out that hero (I think) is the one that gets vantage and it is male only! So no vantage Bernadetta

@Karger already answered the above very well so I will just cover the below two They had soulcasters. There was mention earlier in the novel about latrines that would be built out of the rock with slopping sides so the excrement would pool at the end of the latrine. A soulcaster would then come occasionally and soulcast it to smoke. An army on the move would probably soulcast a latrine, and then soulcast away the excrement. So it was already covered, and I do not see it being necessary to discuss during a climatic moment where Shallan is trying to research the location of the city. As to the uniqueness of the scenario, from what I recall, it was not unique. Armies that size were used all the time during the Kholins coming to power. The only difference is on the shattered plains they didn't do it because Dalinar thought at the time laying a siege would make more sense. The chasmfiends gemhearts were not known to be a thing, so he figured they could practically starve them out. Moving a large army across the shattered plains would leave it vulnerable to the parshendi outflanking them via their jumping. So siege warfare is where they went and stuck with. So the novelty was that Dalinar decided it was time to take the fight to them. But just about any question you could have regarding the army moving towards the center I believe has already been answered in Way of Kings and Words of Radiance. if you like you can list your additional questions, and I will do my best to answer them and quote where they are answered in the books. True Kaladin survived the highstorm, but he did not know there was any "magical reason". It was just some dark eyed slave that is persistent. It is up to his subordinates to solve the problem, and if they do not, they should be punished. Which is exactly what he did to the light eyes that presided over Kaladin and Gaz. Kaladin kept his stormlight use low in the daylight so no one noticed, and for a good chunk of it Kaladin primarily kept the shardbearer distracted so Adolin could deal with the others. So it "appears" to be Adolin that won the overwhelming duel, not Kaladin. Sadeas always poked and prodded Adolin. He just didn't expect that Adolin had it in him and miscalculated.

I will need to check to be sure but the leaks thanibomb made before they were announced were correct were: So sure one or two could be guesses, but 12 being right so far? That is too much to be a good guess to me.

Possible connection between Dead Eyes and Parshman
Pathfinder replied to Bork's topic in Stormlight Archive
Actually I was thinking sort of the same thing, but in a slightly different direction. My theory is that Dalinar as a bondsmith using his connection and investiture producing powers could help Adolin heal Maya to be bonded. Would be interesting if Odium could do the same, and then it would be a race to grab up as many shardblades as possible first to keep them from turning to the other side. -
Been watching videos analyzing info coming out of the E3 as well as Serene's Forest, so half the time I don't know which way they are coming from lol. Main thing is it looks like the thanibomb leaks have been getting confirmed left and right (the recruiting mechanic mentioned prior to E3 for instance) so it causes me to believe the rest of the leaks.

edit: I decided to edit my response for better cohesion 1. I do not agree with you regarding forging 2. what we disagree with regarding forging I feel has no bearing on what I was discussing regarding aon sheo 3. as it has no bearing to me on my point regarding aon sheo, I see no reason to debate it 4. so yes I am ending the conversation No problem, it happens. Hopefully the tangent is now over and we can all continue on the original point of the thread. Thank you. That's a good point. Could be that sheo does all of the above, but it just depends on what modifier you use. Death is a pretty open ended concept in a lot of ways.

My theories are: 1. Dalinar as a bondsmith using the connection Adolin has strengthened with Maya to guide a large infusion of investiture to heal Maya. Then Dalinar and Adolin will continue to help revive other blades bringing the spren like Malata's Spark to their side. 2. Lirin might be the next Dustbringer 3. Jasnah has a degree of schizophrenia that she uses logic to keep in line and that was why she was locked away in a dark room when she was a child.
-
You mean like how she "died" on the wind's pleasure, making us think all is lost for Shallan but she brought it back? To me that already happened. Like I said, to each their own, but for me unless new information presents itself, I do not see how Jasnah dying would aid the narrative.
-
Another leak just got confirmed that may give you hope. (assuming the fate is not a predetermined huge part of the over all story)
-
Already had one fake out concerning Jasnah. Not saying she can't die, but unless new info shows itself between now and book 10, I am not sure what purpose her death would serve. But to each their own.

Aluminum can be used against shades just like silver man. Theoretically the Lord ruler could either get a really big piece of silver, suspend himself in the air, and buzzsaw the hunk of silver through all the shades with impunity. Also since shades are cognitive shadows, they are made of investiture, if the Lord ruler knew how to use chromium (which wasn't it listed on one of the metal plates? I am not sure), then he potentially could destroy them with a touch.

What happens if Yelig-nar possesses a herald?
Pathfinder replied to bxcnch's topic in Stormlight Archive
No problemo. I have included one WoB regarding mists and stormlight below. Will pull up additional as I believe this has come up a few times edit: there I think that is most of them. Hopefully that answers your question. Questioner I'm going through Hero of Ages...again and I noticed...when Vin takes the power of Preservation into herself the descriptions remind me a lot of someone who has been Invested with Stormlight-- Brandon Sanderson Yes. Questioner --are those powers very similar-- Brandon Sanderson Yes. Questioner --in how they operate? Brandon Sanderson Ye-- Definitely some similarities. You will see a lot of mist in Stormlight if you are looking. So yeah. Questioner It like puffs out like mist. Questioner I know that there's three sorts of forms that magic presents itself in, the liquid and the solid and air. What would Breath be? Brandon Sanderson Breath is definitely like mist, it is in the form of the air. Questioner And is Stormlight the same? Brandon Sanderson Stormlight is the same. mooglefrooglian If metals shape the Investiture in Allomancy, causing a Steelpush or whatever, how is it that the mists can be used to perform the same feat? What is 'shaping' the inhaled mists into a Steelpush, if there's no metal "nozzle" to do so? Brandon Sanderson Consistently through the cosmere, once you have the power in hand and it has permeated you, will becomes your nozzle. This can be seen in Warbreaker, where the power has been distributed and inhabits the people. The nozzle idea is important for Magics that are drawing power externally, as it keeps the power from overwhelming and destroying you. (Which, basically, happened to Vin at the end of the Trilogy--she got consumed by the magic. She became something new, now, so it didn't KILL her. It destroyed what she was, transformed her into something else.) So you see magics like on Sel and Scadrial where a specific nozzle is needed--as the power source is external, at least with Allomancy. Will and intent take a backseat, though still pop up on occasion. On Nalthis (and in a lesser way, Roshar) will and intent are more important, and what you are trying to do shapes the magic more directly. A little direct manifestation in this is found in the subtle differences between Allomancy and Feruchemy. In Allomancy, when you enhance the senses, you just get a blast of power--and all senses are enhanced, whether you want them all or not. In Feruchemy, you can be more precise, and pick a specific sense to store. The power is internal here, and therefore more limited in how much you can draw--but you can also be more precise with its manipulation. Note that Roshar Surgebinding is a special case, as the magical symbiosis there is stronger than it is on other worlds, as much of the magic involves bits of power who have become sapient. uchoo786 How much crossover is there in use? Like if one "breathes" in the mists they can use it to power their allomancy. Could an Allomancer utilize stormlight to power his allomancy as well? Brandon Sanderson Most of the magics can be hacked together in one way or another, but some are easier to interchange than others. Argent Since both the mists and Stormlight are very similar in many ways, are there gaseous, liquid, and solid states of Stormlight? Brandon Sanderson That's a RAFO, but you know that there is a gas and a liquid. Argent The gas is just the stuff in the storms, right? Questioner Isn’t there the lake? Brandon Sanderson The lake is liquid. So you know there’s two of the three already. So just sayin'... youshallnotpass Can stormlight be used to fuel allomancy like the mist in the mistborn trilogy? Is stormlight therefore a manifestation of honour? Brandon Sanderson This is possible. Douglas What about a lerasium savant? Or would that require so much lerasium that the person attempting it would ascend to become a new Shardholder? Brandon Sanderson Basically, this is what Ascension is. -
Ok, so semantics established. Can we now move on? Great, so can we now move on to the point of the thread? I see where you are coming from thinking Aon Eto would animate corpses because it is flesh, but personally I think it may be used to create food. I mean hell Ien means wisdom yet that is used to heal. Wouldn't flesh make more sense for healing since you are knitting/creating new flesh? Shao means transformation, it would make more sense for that to transform things into other things, yet it is used for illusions. So personally, I think death could do a form of necromancy. But since we have absolutely no information, all ideas are equal at the end of the day.

And yet by your post, that was what you claimed "Bloodsealing doesn't use MaiPon as a base symbol. The one that the Bloodsealer used to trap Shai looked like an eye." Mai Pon is the central design. The way you wrote it said to me that you were saying the central design for blood sealing is an eye. Which it isn't. It is the shape of the stamp. Like how the images we see in the short novel show a circle for a soulstamp. No disagreement here They need Shai because no one has tried to create someone's entire soul from nothing. Shai is the best at what she does, but others can do it. Not sure how this effects the magic system There is no tissue on a skeletal, unless you classify bone as tissue. Just because Shai focuses on transformation does not dispute anything I have said. I have a WoB below in response to another point you made. I never said they have all abilities of the others. I said based on what we have seen, it is possible that the aons could mimic that power as well. I then gave examples of aons that mimic powers from other power systems to show the idea is plausible. Because you are missing my point by arguing semantics. As you yourself said, and the WoB I posted below state, what you term as a "magic system" is subjective. You view them as three separate magic systems, I view them as all one. Both concepts can coexist as per Brandon below: BenFoley You have stated in your blog that Mistborn had three magic systems (Allomancy, Feruchemy and Hemalurgy) and also that The Way of Kings will have upwards of 20. For comparison, how many magic systems would you say the Wheel of Time series has? Two (One Power and the True Power)? How do you classify other abilities (not necessarily related to the One Power or True Power) such as Dreamwalking, viewing the Pattern, Wolfbrother-hoodness, and changing 'luck' or chance? Would you classify these abilities as a magic system in and of themselves? Has your chance to see the background material Robert Jordan left changed how you view these abilities? Brandon Sanderson This kind of gets sticky, as it's all up to semantics. Really, you could say that Mistborn had a different magic system for each type of Misting. But at the same time, you could argue that something like X-Men—with huge numbers of powers—all falls under the same blanked 'magic system.' And take Hemalurgy in Mistborn 3—is it a new magic system, or just a reinterpretation of Allomancy and Feruchemy? So what do I mean by twenty or thirty magic systems in Kings? Hard to say, as I don't want to give spoilers. I have groupings of abilities that have to deal with a certain theme. Transformation, Travel, Pressure and Gravity, that sort of thing. By one way of counting, there are thirty of these—though by another way of grouping them together, there are closer to ten. Anyway, I'd say that the Wheel of Time has a fair number of Magic systems. The biggest one would be the One Power/True Power, which is more of a blanket "Large" magic system kind of like Allomancy being a blanket for sixteen powers—only the WoT magic system is far larger. I'd count what Perrin/Egwene do in Tel'aran'rhiod as a different magic system. What Mat does as something else, the Talents one can have with the Power something else. Though I'd group all of the Foretelling/Viewing powers into one. Sounds like a topic for a paper, actually. Any of you academics out there feel like writing one? Let's just say that The Wheel of Time has a smaller number of larger magic systems, and I tend to use a larger number of smaller magic systems. Confusing enough? But that is my point. You stepped into the conversation between Karger and myself, where I was stating that since we have seen similar powers in Aons as powers in entirely different magic systems, or even forgery, I see no reason why there couldn't be an Aon that does something similar. Then Karger instead of responding to my point about aons, began to focus on the one aspect of forgery, which does not effect the point i was trying to make the begin with. We can pretend forgery doesn't exist, and my point still stands. We can say forgery is 1 magic system, 3 magic systems, or some random arbitrary magic system. It doesn't matter for the point I am discussing. That if you can have an aon that can basically soulcast, an aon that can teleport, an aon that can make illusions, and an aon that can heal, all of which that we see occur with a magic system on another planet, then why can there not be an aon that could create something like a lifeless which is a nalthis magic? To me there is no reason to preclude it. The whole point of this thread was to say "hey what do you think sheo could do? And I said "hey maybe raise the dead like a lifeless". Simple cut and dry. I honestly do not know how that ended up becoming a debate over what forgery is. I explained above why I included it. And yet again, I do not see how any of that matters regarding my original point of discussing the aon sheo potentially being able to create something like a lifeless. It is literally like we were discussing oranges and the type of liquid you get from them, and I happen to mention apple juice from red apples, and now you and Karger are trying to debate whether or not there are other colors of apples. That has no effect on orange juice. So why am I even arguing it? Great, so can you explain to me what that has to do with my point regarding aon sheo? edit: I have gone back and read this entire thread and it seems it was @Agent34 who decided to bring up the color of apples lol. So can we all get back to the topic of this thread instead of debating forgery?
