Well the reason I think the Lord Ruler didn't use his luck, was I don't feel he ever felt physical harm warranted it. This is supported for two reasons. He LETS kelsier ram a spear through him. This is first because he easily heals from it, and secondly to hammer into the populace "YOU.....CAN'T.....KILL.....ME". Which is more psychologically damaging? Seeing someone dodge your blows, or seeing that even if you land them, it does nothing? As to why Vin was able to kill the Lord Ruler was hubris. The Lord Ruler felt confident that no one could push on pierced metal because no one HAS been able to for years. It is hammered in repeatedly throughout the book that no one can push or pull on pierced metals. Just like how it is hammered in that no one can pierce copperclouds. In his pride the Lord Ruler assumed he was complete in his success in destroying any knowledge of either of those facts being incorrect. So he would have nothing to fear from Vin, because in his mind, she plain and simple wouldn't have been able to push on his metal at all since its pierced in his arms.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty well accepted on the boards that Hoid is an awakener (with perfect pitch), an allomancer (due to the bead he stole as well as slipping metal in his wine to burn, confirmed by Sanderson), and a lightweaver due to the illusion. Though you do both make a good point that the illusion ability could be from another world (raodin did after all use illusions on himself to appear different). The reference about Kaladin being able to soulheal isn't exactly valid given ALL the knights radiant can as long as they have stormlight. Where they differ is healing OTHER people with the stormlight. Maybe I misread things somewhere, but I got the impression that if someone learned how to, anyone in theory could world hop. Galladon, Demoux, and Blunt afterall did it (though admittedly as far as I know, no one knows how they did). I guess I want to know/learn how worldhopping is done, and whats its limitations. Because if hypothecally Dalinar could learn worldhopping, and thereby teleport around, it makes the elsecallers uniqueness eh for me. I will say the point made that maybe anyone could world hop, but only elsecallers can be relatively precise does help in my mind.

hmmm, I could see this theory maybe having merit if it included only honorblades, but the shardblades themselves are a different story. Please see below:

Lol, thanks for the quotes! I was re-reading WoK, when I noticed the color of the wine and was like "hmmmm" lol.

I know this will sound like a rather vague theory, but does anyone else feel like there is something more going on regarding colors in this world? First we see how two different knights radiants in Dalinar's vision have two different colored shardplates (blue and amber), with their eye colors match it. In addition the glyphs associated with each order seem to be colored. Then I noticed how Dalinar refers to wines by their color. We aren't talking about names like merlot, or pinot noir. They are simply called blue, orange, violet, etc. Various characters seen as lighteyes have analogous eye colors (blue, orange, violet, and i could have sworn I read one that was clear). Then at the end of the second book, since Kaladin is a windrunner, his eyes change to a very light blue color. So I assume the reason why the Alethi make lighteyes higher station is because they are the decendants of the radiants, or associated the light eyed color with the radiants and built that tenant in to their society. that in and of itself I doubt is a new theory, but when I read about the wine as well as the eye colors in particular, I don't know, I feel something more might be going on there.

I think part of the problem with deciding if the shardblade could kill Steelheart without needing his weakness, is at this point in time due to that we largely know NOTHING about the nature of the epics powers. All we do know (correct me if I am wrong, because I would always love to know more) is: When the calamity showed up, people started showing powers (but we don't know the cause of the calamity and thereby the nature of the ability, is it connected to the soul? is it tangible? is there a source?) Some epics have abilities that give them various forms of invincibility. (Can these forms be overcome without the weakness found? We don't know) Finding an epic's weakness is the only known source of negating an epic's power, and thereby if they have a form of invincibility, is the only way to kill them (check mating the probability epic doesn't count, because he had no form of invincibility, his ability just made killing him VERY difficult)

I don't know about "binding", but I am with you Arin about lesser spren. When Kaladin was manifesting most/all of his powers in the fight with Szeth, the wind spren were drawn to him and surrounded him. Maybe when the KR reach a certain threshold, or awareness of their abilties, the lesser spren BECOME the armor. Since the lesser spren aren't cognitively aware, they wouldn't suffer the same "death" the bonded spren do hence no screaming. So it would be the bonded spren acting on the lesser spren as maybe a hive mindish kind of deal or some such? There was definitely something going on when the windspren were all over Kaladin during the fight. That much I think can be for certain.

That would make me feel better about Elsecaller's and makes some sense, but there are some things that aren't linking up in my head about that theory. First, Hoid worldhopped from the land of the terrismen to the well. So if I read what you stated correctly, then where ever I am, I can world hop TO a well but not FROM a well or I can worldhop TO anywhere only FROM a well. If either is true, or both then there is still a problem with the given example. If you can world hop from anywhere but only to a well, then why didn't Hoid do that to begin with? The well was "active" this whole time, but he was misled by the Lord Ruler, and needed to wait till Vin found its true location. So if he could world hop to a well from where ever, then why didn't he do that from the get go? If you have to world hop FROM a well TO anywhere, then how did he teleport from the land of the terrismen to the well? Don't mean to sound like I am tearing apart your theory and it has been a while since I have last read the Mistborn Trilogy so if I misread what you were suggesting, or mis-remembered something from the books I apologize in advance and please do prove me wrong. I like the Elsecallers and would love for them to be special/unique like each of the other orders seem to be.

So I like Elsecallers and the seeming ability to teleport, what I don't like is from what I read its not that special. So Hoid shows that if someone knows how to use the shadesmar (apologies if I miss-spelled that), they can not only world hop, but teleport within the world (example: the implication that Hoid teleported to the well of ascension to beat Vin there and grab a bead of lesirum). So if one of the two abilities of the Elsecallers, and one other order of radiants is teleporting, then what is unique about it when ANYONE who can manipulate the shadesmar can do it as well? It is suggested that Hoid is a lightweaver but can hop around as he sees fit. Could this be something unique to Hoid? Otherwise it kind of deflates the coolness factor of the Elsecallers teleportation for me. Thoughts?

I assume this theory is regarding shardblades not attached to radiants? Because I saw what Kaladin can do mentioned a few times here and that is an entirely different animal. No heartbeats necessary for a radiant. You could change what the weapon is as a radiant which would support making it two swords, and if one is knocked out of your hand, it reforms in your hand immediately. Though I will say my thoughts regarding this not working, due to the fact that Kaladin switched from a shield, to a spear, to a halberd, to a sword and so on. He never formed a shield AND a weapon. Then again you quoted Brandon, so I am probably just missing something lol.

The theory of Wayne possibly being a full feruchemist opens a new question for me. You are either a misting of one ability, or a mistborn with all and (i forgot where i read this), you are either a ferring with one ability, or a feruchemist with all. Can a person be a mistborn and a ferring? Or a misting and a feruchemist? If they can't, then I would say Wayne can't possibly be a feruchemist, because then it would mean he was a full mistborn as well.

I could see the "rebel" parshendi surviving simply because of Brandon's past writing. He has done the whole "survival of the flood" dealie before with the end of the Mistborn trilogy. In fact I wouldn't put it past him that there was some sort of hidden tunnel they stumble upon that was really there all along for some reason that Honor might have set up in anticipation of Odium. Just the kind of thing I could see Brandon doing lol.

I don't have the exact quote of Hoid describing Rayse but Hoid did imply Rayse was SNEAKY (correct me if I am wrong) as well as all the other descriptive words he used. Perhaps Rayse played the nice guy when the shattering occured, and convinced the group that he was like Ati, and will try to mitigate the damage. Or at least that is how I see Ati's actions. That he was a good person, trying to lesson the damage of Ruin. Thereby everyone agrees to Rayse getting hatred's shard. Rayse then reveals himself to be the horrible person he is, and thus Hoid....is....PISSED lol.

Here is another question of the nature of nightblood and evil. steelheart using his powers is what made him the person he is. Same stands with Prof, just in Prof's case he could give his power away. No one knows what kind of person steelheart was before he got his powers. So is the PERSON evil, or the powers they use? If someone found a way to control your mind and make you kill innocents, are you evil or the person making you kill people evil? Wonder how nightblood would see things in that case? Is simply the act of killing enough to be considered evil by nightblood?

Well that leads to another inquiry. My impression when Kaladin was first bonded was certain TYPES of spren bond with certain TYPES of radiants. So honor spren bond with windrunners. I assumed this meant that they didn't bond with any other radiants. Syl stated she was the Stormfather's daughter, and Lift's spren (sorry i forget his name), implied in my mind he was the child of the Nightwatcher. So I assumed they were of the same class, i.e Stormfather and Syl are one class, Lift's spren and Nightwatcher are another and thereby exclusive to the class of radiants they bond to. Dalinar bonding with Stormfather kind of threw that right out the window. I am guessing then when they state they are the child of this spren or that spren, It is like slightly what someone mentioned above (sorry typing this quick, so don't have time to make a specific reference), where they are referred to as children, because they are further split slivers, while the Stormfather and Nightwatcher are either bigger slivers, or multiple slivers combined. Does that make sense? Sanderson's magic systems tend to be very organized and rule bricked, so the idea that any radiant can bond with any spren doesn't feel right. I also have a theory that anger spren, pain spren, etc will end up being what bonds with voidbringers other forms. Would be cool to see how they manifest in the other forms

As I said in the earlier post, if there are any pointers, or decorum (such as including my notation about spoilers, which I only thought to include because of one other thread I saw had one as well) please feel free. The information would be greatly appreciated. Yep, that is where I got the idea that Jezrian hates the Radiants. On the stormlight wiki, it mentions that Jezrian is the Stormfather, and I did see one or two posts in this forum that referred to him as such. That is why I felt so confused because so many points in the book seemed to contradict that for me. I have been on these forums all of a week or two, so I was wondering if I missed something. Thank you very much for clearing that up for me! @likes to italicize good point, and that would explain where the thought on the two being the same was coming from for me online/in the forum.

Ok, so I understand that Jezrien is the King figure of the 10 Heralds. I also understand that he was the Herald that founded the windrunners, and he hates the radiants now because of all the spren that were killed. What I don't understand is that Jezrien is the Stormfather. It doesn't make sense to me. First: Why would the FOUNDER of the windrunners bond with bondsmith? Second: Does this mean Heralds are spren too? So does that then mean they all can potentially bond? Third: I thought certain spren tended to bond with certain orders, such as honorspren to windrunners, cryptics to lightweavers and so on. If Jezrien being the Stormfather means he is a spren, then what kind of spren is he that he is bonding with a bondsmith? Any help or insight would be appreciated because this feels contradictory to me, and I am hoping I am just missing something. Btw, I am new on these boards, so if this is located in the wrong thread, or has been discussed before, I apologize and would appreciate any instruction/advice in navigating this forum for a newb. Thanks!
