[OB] Mraize and his Bird
Fifth of Daybreak replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
Could a Copper also work to hide minds like the Aviar do? It protects from emotional allomancy. If so, it's not an unreasonable assumption that Iyatil could have used a coppercloud to protect them from predators and grab an Aviar. -
There's one quote that kills his chance at redemption for me, especially in the light of another: He saw to it personally. Brandon is a talented writer, and I think he put those talents to work making Sadeas irredeemable.

Wouldn't it be interesting...
Fifth of Daybreak replied to Quickbronze's topic in Stormlight Archive
The biggest issue would be the cracking of gemstones anytime you performed a large Soulcasting feat, which would be basically anytime you go close to FMA style moves. @Crimson Not Blood Soulcasting cannot change the shape of an object. Objects are carved first before they are soulcast. -
Referring back to the OP, Shallan also was in possession of Jasnah's most important notes after the shipwreck. As knowledgeable as Jasnah could be, there's no substitute for having years of research with meticulously transcribed quotes and interpretations.

Could Shinovar be run by stonewards?

I should get some time between calls at work tomorrow, and I'll give you a call out when I refine my thoughts. -
Could Shinovar be run by stonewards?
Fifth of Daybreak replied to Fifth of Daybreak's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't have the time to give you the proper attention this deserves at the moment, but the barebones would be that the Skybreakers, after Nale had resurrected them, orchestrated the cleansing or documents in order to make it easier to hide/prevent Nahel bonds. It's a thought I've had latest reread and haven't had time to look into yet. -
Could Shinovar be run by stonewards?

Let's just skip to this part. I haven't done any serious research into this. -
Would you let amazon into your home?

I accidentally left my car doors unlocked once. I had a backseat full of my board games and signed books. It was a once in six months thing. Sure enough, someone came around that night. In the morning I get in my car and it takes a second before I notice. My $6 charger is missing. A few bucks in spare change. A few board games had been opened and searched through, but they were all still there as well as all my signed Sanderson books. I didn't notice that my six-disc changer with my hard copy of the Graphic Audio Version of Mistborn wasn't in the glovebox, but I did notice that my car's cigarette lighter was gone as well. A few days later we went grocery shopping and open up the trunk. My disc golf bag had been unzipped and all the discs were spread across the trunk. Next to them were my phone charger, my six-disc changer with Mistborn, and my car's cigarette lighter. All in all, it was a very polite robbery. -
Semantics or confirmation of another shard?
Fifth of Daybreak replied to The Invested Beard's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think that very much does for the questioner, but I think Brandon could consider this a case of specific, but not quite specific enough, and take advantage of an "unreliable narrator" and use the broader definition. It's very Aes Sedai and I think that would appeal to Brandon. -

Brandon could definitely be playing word tricks. Arcanum Unbounded Spoilers: -
Smoochie#1388 I've been playing for years, so any games against me will be really one-sided. I'll definitely play some games when any non-deckbuilding tavern brawls come around, and then what I can do to help you accelerate is save my "Challenge a friend" quests for you because it gives both of us a reward when I complete it. Granted they don't show up very often. It's not much but every little thing helps when you're FTP. Otherwise, we can start playing some games when the new set rolls around and I'll build decks only using new cards, as that will give us more of an even playing field at the beginning until you can build a card base or the meta resets next year.

Could Shinovar be run by stonewards?
Fifth of Daybreak replied to Fifth of Daybreak's topic in Stormlight Archive
Looking back, this actually doesn't seem to be a problem. Dalinar looks at one of the Windrunners after they break the Oaths. At this point though, I want to add that one of the reasons I'm most skeptical about this theory is because I personally think that the subterfuge one of the orders took is referring to the cleansing of documents of Urithuru and the Knights Radiant by the Church. -
I had done a few name changes before when I was active back around Words of Radiance, but now it's been set as Fifth of Daybreak for almost four years if not more so. Would it be weird for you guys if I changed my name? I'm fairly sure I had my display name as Smoochie at one point, which has been pretty much an official nickname for me since high school (some teachers called me Smoochie and still would if I were to run into them) and Smoochieloo is pretty universal across a lot of my other accounts. I liked the idea of using a more modernized naming from "Sixth of the Dusk" as I come from a large family. Would it be weird to change my name away from the Brandon Sanderson theme?

Could Shinovar be run by stonewards?

This exactly. Something my older brother and I share as a core ideology is that an idea cannot be considered good until it has been tempered in the fires of debate. -

I'm more on the doubting side as well. I try to help qualify my confidence in my thesis in the title, so anything you see of mine posed as a question you can safely assume I'm almost trying to get conclusive proof to shoot it down rather than to put a theory out there, that way I can then turn my attention toward other things. When I'm more certain the wording in the title will be more forceful, at the very least a statement. (Sometimes that can come back to bite me haha.) -

This is huge, it might be the breaking point. Storming nice work. Could the eyedrops be a possibility here? -

I have to disagree in the context of the full quote though. If they are the order that is most matched with their herald, it makes beautiful symmetry for them to be the only order that doesn't abandon their oaths given the apparent knowledge that Taln is still bound to the Oathpact (I'm only qualifying this as 'apparent' because of Brandon's 'man who refers to himself as Taln' shenanigans.) There's also the part at the end of being stubborn in the face of proven error. If the recreance is caused because the Radiants suddenly find something out that makes them feel as though they aren't doing the right thing, it would make sense that the Stonewards would be the ones to ignore that proven error and keep fighting. -

That's an interesting perspective. It's hard to say either way because Shallan is actively fighting with herself and her buried memories in the scene. -

very cool. Give your secrets unto me Stormlight Archives. I don't agree. If they were comprable there's no reason to separate them out by individual descriptions "...a large number of Stonewards and Windrunners." Grammatically, it's perfectly acceptable the other way. "A single representative of the order of the Stonewards and a large number of Windrunners." Overall you guys raise good points and I'm very skeptical that it's true, but I don't think we have enough concrete evidence to fully rule it out. I think it's significant that we have on screen evidence that seems to be self contradictory, and that multiple people have latched onto it as potential foreshadowing without any conclusive arguments arising to shoot it down. I'm not trying to say any of those is enough to assert that it's likely or probable, but I think it's enough to give the idea merit. -

Gotcha. Doing a quick reread nothing super obvious jumped out at me. Is it because her eye color matches the corresponding order gemstone in the Ars Arcanum? Just trying to figure out what to look for in the future, I don't really have anything else concrete to say again against your points. I think your idea about Plate is especially interesting -

Well, we do know that Pattern has a hard time hiding himself in the physical realm, and that some Spren are better at it than others, buy beyond that, I think this is a poor example. Kaladin was supposed to be the distraction so there's no reason to hide the good to try to avoid the Chasm fiend. Kaladin was the bait to allow Shallan to get her satchel and escape to the warcamps. Where else do we see them working together?
