  1. I'm just wondering how the developments with the former Parshmen will continue throughout the book. Hoping that this doesn't end up killing Kal
  2. Don't worry, I'll make sure to keep one of them alive and sell them into slavery.
  3. What's that smell? ... The sweet blood, oh, how it sings to me. It's enough to make a man sick.
  4. Still though, it would be exceedingly weird for him to do an Eshonai book past here. She's dead in the first 30% of Oathbringer, so when would her flashback book be? By the time we get to her flashback book, it would have been 1000 pages and 3-4 years since she died, and that's assuming that Book 4 is her flashback book. Is it possible that she's just barely alive, and the shardplate's been eating away at her stormlight supply to heal, like it did to Kaladin in the duel?
  5. Dalinar could very easily be manipulated into screwing everything up. He's not good at politics, he trusts Taravangian too much, has no idea about Gavilar's efforts to start the desolation, and most importantly, I think he's misunderstanding Honor's instructions (as is Taravangian, tbf). IMO, when Honor said "Unite Them", he was referring to Humans and Parshendi, not the Human kingdoms. I think Kaladin's on his way to realizing this after part 1, and I could see him and Dalinar coming into conflict over this. Kaladin sees the situation as being "We can reach the Parshmen before Odium claims them", while the warlord in Dalinar (and Mr.T) could see it as "The Parshmen aren't voidbringers yet... that means they're weak now, let's kill them"
  6. Of course not. Stormfather's a greater spren. Dalinar's gonna get a shard mech
  7. I missed that theory, but that could be. Still something that's been unmade, though.
  8. Also, regarding the unmade, I'm surprised Shallan or someone else hasn't put 2 and 2 together about the name yet. They're called unmade. Because they were once human or listener, and then were UNMADE into what they are now. Literally.
  9. Not sure why people think the unmade-in-a-box theory is dead. We've already seen one unmade trapped, were hinted that the others were pursued, and Gavilar VERY heavily implied that he'd trap an uber-spren in the OB prologue (that's what I'm calling greater spren from now on). Also, having all of the fuss be over a bit of voidlight would be strange overall. The Parshendi on the Shattered Plains didn't need any voidlight to adopt stormform, they needed spren. At the moment, there's nothing to indicate that the voidlight is anything more than a mere powersource, just like how stormlight is power for radiants, but being exposed to it in no way makes someone more likely to be a radiant. And we saw Re-Shephir try to forcibly bond Shallan in a previous chapter. So Gavilar's plan could easily have been to release an unmade, have it forcibly bond a Parshendi, and start a new desolation.
  10. I'm not sure how allowed this is, but I highly doubt that Adolin's going to confess. I'll put the rest of this in a spoiler tag, just in case.
  11. But pls send it to me first. For... research purposes? I'm totally documenting the environmental impact of orbital tactical nukes.
  12. I don't think the sphere's been broken yet, I think Brandon would have updated us if it had. I think we'll know when it's broken in more explicit terms. The first copycat killing occurred before Amaram arrived, so I doubt it. Honestly, I think it's likely that it sneaked in after the battle at the end of WoR. Re-Shephir probably went to Narak when it sensed the parshendi bond the stormspren, then followed the humans to Urithuru.
  13. Unmade in a box! But yeah, I definitely think it's hinting at that. What makes me curious is that Re-Shephir had been trapped before. I highly doubt it was actually in Gavilar's sphere, as I'm expecting to see it break when it does, but Shallan did say it was hundreds of years ago. I do wonder then, what if there were previous desolations that were caused by men as well? We know Gavilar wanted to return Parshendi gods so that the heralds would return, so is it possible that other desolations started in a similar manner?
  14. Since always. She's listed as a female in the Ars Arcanum.
  15. What are you talking about? Vedel's holding keys because that's something she's known for. "A Kharbranthian oath of "by Vedeledev's golden keys!" is used to express astonishment.[2]" And what's wrong about their appearances?
  16. Jezrien's belt buckle thing is interesting. He has a bunch of gems on it. In the outer circle, there are 10 gems, likely corresponding to the different orders. However, in the center, he has 3 gems. My gut says for Honor, Cultivation, and Odium, but why would he have a gem for Odium? The inner gems are light purple, green, and blue for those wondering. I'm honestly not sure what they're for, anyone else have any ideas?
  17. So, serious question. Do we actually have confirmation that Melishi was a Bondsmith? I know it's super likely, but as far as I know, he only appears in that one epigraph, and it simply says that he figured out a way to use the Bondsmith's abilities.
  18. Could also be more Vasher and Nightblood. There's a chance Vasher helps Shallan interpret her drawings (returned can do that), which would be out of the blue for someone who didn't read Warbreaker.
  19. 1 - I remember seeing a theory about Aluminum being used in Urithiru as a stormlight sink. It would actually be a good material for stormlight "wires", and would also explain the unhallowed stones. 2 - I joked about stonewards building a spaceship to fly Nightblood to Braize to eat Odium, but that may just be possible 3 - Long scarf, you say? Holy crap, that story really is Attack on Titan
  20. I think you're reading into it too much. If anything, the unmade would probably be powerful voidbinders, and we haven't seen how that magic system works yet. - Division isn't required to kick a door down and kill a bunch of people. - Re-Shephir is described as spawning midnight essences. There's a thousand ways she could do this that aren't soulcasting or regrowth. She could split investiture off of herself, or make stormlight take on a lifelike form (the essences popped when they were killed), drag stuff between the cognitive and physical realms, and so on. - Spren changing appearance is different from people doing it. In a lot of cases in the cosmere, physical appearance mirrors your cognitive self. See Vasher and Kaladin's slave brands for example. Since spren are already all cognitive, changing their appearance doesn't need to involve illusions. Also, we have no guarantee that the unmade is meddling with her illusions directly.
  21. I know this is weird, but I can't read her name (Malata) without thinking of ES IV Oblivion Malada is a ruin in the game that's part of a really awesome questline, and the similarity between the names is screwing with me big time.
