  1. Szeth is not an actual Skybreaker (at least not yet), he has no Spren and he has no surges. Why would he need Night Blood if he had a Spren? He may not end up as a Skybreaker, he could be found by some other spren.
  2. I think it's pretty obvious that Jasnah had some stormlight in, was stabbed, wasn't breathing, because Stormlight, and when she woke after the light healed her, she took some more, panicked and Elsecalled to the cognitive realm. By the time she tried to return, the ship may have been gone already.
  3. I think there must be massive earthquakes involved with the desolations. I think all the god cities are created in the footprints of past desolations where mighty earthquakes caused cymatic patterns to emerge. I think it's likely that it was shattered when Odium killed Honor.
  4. My other theory I like is that Ishar is the Herald that has betrayed the others. I also think that the God-priest of Tukar, Tezim, is one of the Heralds, possibly Ishar.
  5. I have seen this theorized other places, but I think the Vedeledev might be the ardent Dova who helps Taravangian drain the blood from people to hear death rattles.
  6. It doesn't matter what they are, just what people perceive them to be. If people perceive different things, then the Spren will be different.
  7. I agree, I think Logic Spren are to Ink Spren as Life Spren are to Cultivation Spren, Creation Spren are to Cryptics, and Wind Spren are to Honor Spren. I would guess their real name might be Communication Spren, or Understanding spren? Enlightenment Spren? Knowledge Spren? For willshapers it might be Diplomacy Spren?
  8. I generally agree with Seloun about everything in this topic
  9. but some of them are wrong. And some are monsters. Not everyone is correct, some people are wrong. Taravangian considers himself the hero the world needs. He is wrong, he is destroying and dividing the world when it needs to be at it's strongest.
  10. Wait, why would Adolin be an Edgedancer, he is friendly with everyone but not very attentive. If anything he would be a Stoneward or a Releaser. I know his sword was probably once a edgedancers blade, but Adolin just doesn't fit as an Edgedancer.
  11. Evil is evil, not all morality is subjective. Killing hundreds of thousands of innocents is never acceptable. That what Taravangian is doing killing, hundreds of thousands.
  12. Jasnah has Transformation and Transportation (her other ability is known as elsecalling, she can transport herself physically into Shadesmar or to places), Lift has friction and progression, Ym, Renarin, and maybe Stump have Illumination and progression, Shallan has Illumination and transformation, Nale (if he is indeed the one who recovered his blade) has gravitation and division, Dalinar will have adhesion and tension, Taln would have Tension and cohesion
  13. It probably has to do with changing the future through misunderstanding interpretations of prophesy. You meet your destiny on the road you take to avoid it or something. The Almighty only ever really talks about the future in the last vision in WoK, on the clifftop overlooking the destruction of the world. He talks about branching futures. Maybe the Truthwatchers didn't talk of the future because they worried about their prediction causing that prediction to come true.
  14. It's not really that his an is inaccurate. When Taravangian is just very smart, it's not that he's wrong. It's that it's evil. It is evil to demand all those below a certain intellect not reproduce or commit suicide, and the diagram is evil. What it calls for him to do is evil, and that's not even considering that Taravangian may interpret it wrong and that the diagram can be mistaken on small parts. I think the whole premise that the diagram is working on is wrong.
  15. Well no, a Larkin isn't a spren. But Larkin were associated with the KR and Rysn seems uniquely attuned with what we know about Willshapers. I think the Tai-Na giving her a Larkin means she will be a surgebinder.
  16. I think this is because both of their abilities are related to Shadesmar while Willshapers and Lightweavers only have one ability that related to Shadesmar. I think the general surges work the same in both orders that have them. I think what differentiates the orders is how the abilities combine and the unique special abilities each order has. Shallan has a perfect visual memory and can draw events she has never seen or known about, Kaladin has super fast reactions and can move with small changes in the air, Lift can understand people perfectly, the truthwatchers can see the visions of the future, the Skybreakers could aparently tell the innocent from the guilty.
  17. I also don't think he was a Ghostblood and while yes, Mraise only says "your brother sought out the Skybreakers" I think his actions combined with that imply he was a Skybreaker (in the organization, not a surgebinder Skybreaker) I also think Shallan's mother and her "friend" were Skybreakers based on their actions. I think Helaran was introduced to the Skybreakers through his mother.
  18. I get passionate about Taravangian. I think he is a monster.
  19. Honor says he is not good at seeing the future, Cultivation was better than him. We need to remember that Surgebinding partially comes from Cultivation who is quite good at seeing the future. Lots of Vorin traditions seem to be misunderstandings of real things (Lighteyes is a misunderstanding where lighter eyes replaced the original definition of literally having Light coming from one's eyes is the greatest example) That there is an order on the Cultivation side of the Radiants (Lightweavers, Truthwatchers, Edgedancers, Elsecallers) who can see the future doesn't surprise me. Shallan gets visions as part of her illumination surge like when she sees the crew of the Wind's Pleasure coming ashore or when she sees The Mistress aka Ash aka Shalash destroying a statue. Renarin also has his vision healed, he hears screams when he touches a shard blade, and he seems to fit the sttributes of the Truthwatchers. Finally, it just makes sense that an order called the Truthwatchers would be related to visions and seeing things. All the orders seem to have a unique ability that is related to their name that isn't specifically their surges. Kaladin can feel the wind and it acts almost like a spidey sense allowing him to react more quickly to stimuli. Shallan has her perfect visual memory and can draw events she has never seen. It is inplied that the Skybreakers had a unique ability to determine the innocent from the guilty, and Lift seems to be able to understand people instinctively.
  20. Brandon is asking us to ask Morality questions. He's writing a ten book series about the question of whether the ends justify the means. As someone who believes that generally they don't, I admit to disliking Taravangian (not to mention he is playing god, deciding who lives and who dies). Taravangian doesn't give people the chance to band together. By destroying the world to bind it together he makes it harder for people who legitimately want to help people to bring the world together through negotiation, reason, and show of force. And if Taravangian doesn't trust himself to change things when he is very smart because he is too cold and calculating, why does he base his entire philosophy on the amoral calculations of himself at his smartest?
  21. Mraise himself tells Shallan that her brother was a Skybreaker
  22. When Dalinar gives his big unifying speech before the battle of Narak he attracts a bunch of Gloryspren.
  23. Humble and Reasonable? The man who is setting himself up to be king of the world by destroying everything and is only doing that because he asked for the power to be able to save the whole world? He is not humble. (This doesn't even get into him being a monster who will never be able to perfectly interpret and predict the future and will cause more harm than good. I think Taravangian is the villain for the Stormlight pt 1.
  24. Whether or not Amaram was a schmuck not withstanding (I think he isn't as smart as he thinks he is, he's an idiot in-fact, he's trying to start a desolation to bring back the Heralds! Who never went anywhere to start with!) that doesn't mean he knows everything about the Ghostbloods and the absence of evidence isn't evidence.
