  1. I would guess that Kaladin did it then just flew up. I also think it takes Dalinar longer than it seems to talk to the Stormfather and then walk to the throne room. I agree with Junior about Renarin, I don't think his spren even showed up until after Ym dies between part 1 and part two and the Spren that create Truthwatchers needed to select a new knight candidate.
  2. Mrall did strike me as slightly off, but he might just be a sociopath. What Taravagian himself is doing seems very wrong. I find it odd that the only brilliant plan he could come up with involves putting himself in charge not to mention he is weakening humanity's chances against Odium. I think Taravangian will be one of the main villains in the books and will oppose Dalinar and the Knights Radiant as the knights will be a threat to his plan for world domination. Brandon gives us the clues right in Taravangian's chapter, the smarter he is the less compassion he has, so at his smartest he would have the least empathy so by following his plan he may be destroying the world.
  3. Pattern was distracting the first shardbearer to attack Renarin A something who was just playing with him. Relis was clearly hearing from the Spren in his blade. The comment "I didn't kill you" gives it away. When Kaladin touched the blade that had been bonded to Relis woke up and Relis got the full effect of a screaming spren.
  4. I just think that one of the abilities of Lightweaving is some kind of foresight or the ability to see things in the past. It explains why Ranarin can see, Truthwatchers are probably better at the third eye part of lightweaving than Lightweavers because nothing about growth or regrowth would explain Ranarin's visions.
  5. There like giant wasps not birds in my imagination, or maybe flying spiders. I think the Larkin and the Relu Na were attracted to Rysn because I think she is on her way to being a Willshaper. She is adventurous, she explores, and is not afraid to jump off the head of a greatshell hundreds of feet in the air.
  6. I always thought it looked like two hurricanes crashing into each other which makes sense know that we know about the two highstorms crashing into each other. Also Urithiru also appears to be at the origin of two storms spiraling out from the center
  7. I still don't think that the drunk beggar was Jesrien. Do we have WoB that that was him? Jesrien would be leading in some knd of perverted way.
  8. Szeth isn't really a skybreaker. He is part of Nalen's little posse of constables with shards and Szeth has a powerful weapon but he has no highspren bonded to him. The heralds could not pick who got to join their orders, the spren chose their bond mates on their own with no direction from the heralds. Nale chose Szeth because Szeth loved following the rules and had his own code of honor. I think it is highly unlikely that Nale himself would meet the requirements to become a true Skybreaker at this point. My guess is that being a skybreaker has to do with what is just not just what the law says. Nale is embracing unjust laws not meet has own personal goals and is therefor betraying the true nature of the Skybreakers.
  9. Was Ym on his way to becoming a Truthwatcher? Did Renarin demonstrate any abilities before Ym was killed? I think we must assume that Ym was also a Truthwatcher, he's reserved but is also compassionate. He has regrowth but is not an edge dancer so he must be a Truthwatcher. Therefore, we can assume that Ranarin's spren also looks like a pattern like a Cryptic but made of light instead of shadow. I don't have the quote but I believe that it was described as looking like a pattern of light, like light reflected through a crystal and it was shy and didn't want to come out. The traits of Ym and his spren don't match the descriptions of Willshapers who love adventure and exploration and the powers demonstrated place it firmly in slot five. Side note: the most likely person to be our first Willshaper has got to be Rysn. She is a traveler, an adventurer and she is not afraid to jump off the head of a giant greatshell in order to achieve her goal. Willshapers must be in slot 8 because they are in the group that is good in shadesmar and the two powers that enable proficiency in shadesmar are elsecalling and soulcasting and elsecalling would be beneficial to an order that loved adventure and exploring.
  10. I think when Nalan spoke he said "Praise Jaesir, Herald of kings." Stop. Then he shifted to talking about the new Prime who was probably disheveled from being mostly dead a minute earlier and may have been drooling when he said "may he rule in wisdom, if he ever stops drooling."
  11. I was looking for places where Jesrien might be hiding in the present story. If he has become corrupted, like Shalash who instead of creating art and beauty destroys art (especially statues of herself) and Nale who brings a twisted evil form of justice that appears to be playing into the hands of Odium by destroying Radiants, and possibly Pailiah who may be the ardent assisting Taravangian with the silent gathering instead of healing, he would probably have taken up power for himself but in a twisted way that instead of leading by example and inspiring he became a despotic tyrant that led in fear. One example that is mentioned in both books is the Godking in Tukar in Sesemalex Dar who is being worshiped by the Tukari and the Emuli. In tWoK an ardent mentions that he thinks the war between the Tukari led by their godking and the Emuli is really about control of the city and Kaladin flies over the city and sees a war in the area. In WoR we learn that Mraize doesn't think that the "creature" in Tukar is human or "at least not the local variety" and we learn from Mr. T's guard/master that the war there has gone on for six years. (I'm not good at siting and don't have my book.) This seems like something a twisted, broken, corrupted Jesrien would do. Set himself up as Godking and convince two factions to go to war over him. Now it's possible Nale is just a little off and truly thinks what he's doing is helping and Ash just really hates that people make statues of her and the rest of the Heralds are fine but that seems unlikely. Just my theory feel free to rip it apart, question it, or point me to someone else who has already stated it better.
  12. How do you explain Taln's order the Stonewards. They seem to not fit the pattern of physical on the right, or the warriors/asskickers (Windrunners, Edgedancers, Skybreakers, and Dustbringers) and the more cognitive, scholarly/mystical orders on the left (Elsecallers, Lightweavers, Willshapers) Talenel is described as the ultimate soldier and he is the herald of war. Now admittedly we don't know much about what either of the surges associated with the Stonewards do, but we know that it was said somewhere that of all the orders the one that most fit their heraldic patron was the Stonewards. Is it possible Taln functioned more as a type of general and his those of his order were tacticians and used their powers to inspire and rally soldiers?
