How complicated of formatting do you require? We can add or remove items on the toolbar if needed, so I am okay with discussing with this.

Yeah I don't know about that one, I'm afraid! Seeing a mental health professional might be a good start, but if it's real, you got bigger problems.
-
Unfortunately, that is not a feature that I can grant, permission-wise to allow you to do this. BBCode also unfortunately will be removed in a later version of the software. There won't be an alternative and that sucks. You may want to get used to not using BBCode...

This week, we're talking about Secret Project 4! An intriguing start and a lot of cosmere connections to pull. Next week, look out for the WoBs related to this Secret Project... and then I promise we'll get to that Stormlight Prologue next. Spoilers for ALL COSMERE WORKS. Seriously, we're not kidding. Very spoilers here. This episode's cast is Eric (Chaos), Alyx (Feather), David (Windrunner), Marvin (Paleo), Veronica (Cheyenne), and Ala (Rasarr). We are extremely excited that at long, long last, we are starting a new podcast series where we reread various Brandon works and talk about our thoughts! This show will be both on our YouTube channel and our podcast feed, and will be weekly! We'll be starting with Mistborn: The Final Empire starting May 7th, so if you want to read along with us, get started on that! We'll be doing a Mistborn book a month until the end of October, right before The Lost Metal's release! This is not the typical readthrough podcast, or the typical reread show. Most shows like this would go through a set of chapters or a part of the book each week. This is what we tried in Shardcast's earliest incarnation, where we did three chapters of Elantris at a time. We felt that pace was a little slow and had some problems with us keeping up excitement and pace of recording. So, our new reread show will be different: instead of going over a few chapters a week, we will have four episodes per book where we can talk about the book in a more broad sense and hit the big highlights. We'll have an episode on general thoughts, one on characters, one on magic, and one with full-cosmere spoilers. So for Mistborn 1, the first three episodes will only have spoilers for that book until we do that fourth cosmere episode. Then, when we do Well of Ascension, that will inherently have spoilers for previous book in the series during those first three episodes, with the fourth being full-cosmere. This should hopefully be a good balance between newer readers and many of you who have read the entire cosmere. These episodes will be more around 40 minutes as well, rather than our extremely long Shardcasts! So you can plan your own reread with us, our schedule will be: Mistborn: The Final Empire, May 7th through May 25th The Well of Ascension, June 1st through June 22nd The Hero of Ages, June 29th through July 20th Mistborn: Secret History, July 27th and August 3rd The Alloy of Law, August 10th through August 31st Shadows of Self, September 7th through September 28th The Bands of Mourning, October 5th through October 26th After that, we'll take a bit of a break and return in 2023 for more cosmere works and Stormlight! We've really wanted to do a show like this for literal years. The deep-dives on Shardcast are still going to be very important, but we want to do more shows and videos than just Shardcast. We want to have content for every Brandon fan, so having both shorter content and content where we go through the books themselves was always something we wanted. Our founder, Mi'chelle, who hasn't been on many Shardcasts, has wanted to this for so long, and she will make her grand return in this show! Don't fret, this is purely an addition to our content, and Shardcast will release at its usual pace. How will we record all of these while also doing Shardcast? Well, jokes on you: we've been recording these for ages in preparation! We're a well-oiled machine at this stage! We hope to see you May 7th for Mistborn: The Final Empire, and we hope you enjoy this!

This episode we are continuing talking about Secret Project 3, and we're discussing the magic, world, cosmere stuff, and Words of Brandon about this project from the Secret Project 3 stream! This episode you have Evgeni (Argent), Danielle (FelCandy), and Joshua (Jofwu). Nope, that happens all the time. Eh, stick figures tend to not be relevant, and if I'm drawing anything (which I am terrible at that), it needs to be very relevant. I don't like drawing at all!

So, we can't really make adjustments to the core software as that can easily break in updated versions, but hopefully in newer versions they do fix this annoyance.

You've been waiting for a physical editions for the three Skyward Flight novellas that came out late last year, and today Skyward Flight: The Collection is out! You can get a hardcover or an ebook with all three of the novellas: Sunreach, ReDawn, and Evershore. The hardcover is just $20 on Amazon (and about the same price on Barnes and Noble), with the ebook at $12. You can also get a signed hardcover off Brandon's store, or get the Gollancz paperback off Book Depository. We found the Skyward Flight novellas to be a fantastic trilogy of stories, and an important part of the Skyward series. Janci Patterson co-wrote these with Brandon, and we felt she did an excellent job. These fill a big hole in the mainline novels, and if you like Skyward, absolutely pick these up. I liked this more than Cytonic too! ReDawn and Evershore are just incredible. I think it is best to read all these either before Cytonic, or directly after Cytonic. So really, at $12 or $20 dollars, you can't go wrong, especially because these three together are longer than any individual Skyward book! Lastly, Janci Patterson will be on a stream on Brandon's YouTube channel tonight, at the usual stream time 6pm Mountain time (5pm Pacific / 8pm Eastern), which will go for two hours. You can put questions for the stream in this Reddit thread!

Depends on the project. I'd say anything Brandon said he needed to do a lot of revisions on, the final product is quite a bit better.

This week's episode, we're talking about Secret Project 3! We decided to do two shorter episodes this time, so stay tuned next week for some more in-depth magic, cosmere, and Words of Brandon related to this one. Obviously, spoilers for Secret Project 3. This episode you have Evgeni (Argent), Danielle (FelCandy), and Joshua (Jofwu). You're spared from Eric as he wasn't feeling well during this episode. For that very last question, yes! He's still on the site: Good times. Line and surface integrals are fun, and a good teacher can make a big difference. So regarding main cosmere topics, it definitely can be tricky and is a bit of an acquired skill. We try our best to avoid scheduling things after the beta, which mitigates a lot of things. For example, after the RoW beta we obviously couldn't do a Taravangian episode until after the book came out. So with Lost Metal, we still have two Lost Metal podcasts we recorded last August and September that haven't come out. Pre-planning! That's not always possible though. I am pretty heavily corrupted with knowledge so it's especially dangerous for me, but fortunately, my wife (Lady Lameness on here) doesn't like spoilers at all, so I get a lot of practice with saying what I think about things without giving stuff away, or even implying I know something on a subject even. For a lot of it, you have to do some mental gymnastics about thinking about what you thought about the question prior to when you learned information on the subject. Or you just avoid it entirely. On Shardcast that's fine, as you can let others blab on the subject. So it's hard, but not as hard as you'd maybe expect. Another asset I have is that I get very excited about everything, and if I felt very strongly on a specific thing, I can go in with basically the same emotional reaction I always had at the start. This is most useful in cosmere rants, of course, but is useful here too But yeah, you have to be careful. I can't even try and imply I know a thing on certain topics. That's part of the reason I don't like drawing attention to my status, because I think that makes that part easier. You do sometimes need to hold onto stuff for quite some time. When Lost Metal comes out, it'll have been over a year since that beta began. So it can be tricky! Note: this was to give him, his staff, and his publisher more time to work on the book, because usually Brandon books are absurdly rushed out compared to general publishing standards. Publishers typically like the complete book about eighteen months before publications. For big authors they fast track it, but still... every Stormlight book is an absurdly big push. Also, the beta is worse than your final product every single time, and in a sense when you read that beta draft you never get that first-read experience that you all get in the final draft. (That one can make reviews and reactions very tricky.) I've spoiled other betas during the beta! I spoiled the Vivenna thing in OB to Feather during that beta. Oops. I'm more careful now. To non-betas, that doesn't really happen. I've been in the know on things for 8+ years (since Words of Radiance formally) so I am pretty practiced. In your situation where you have everyone in different places, I think it's harder than the usual group of people I chat with, who have read everything except the new thing. Great question!

Right, so, words that contain the n-word are automatically hidden. Don't use those. You want "snicker" instead. -

Please chill, we are working on this, but we have not encountered this before so we don't know exactly how to fix this. But please just bear with us. I don't have an ETA. We apologize for the inconvenience. Maybe go do something else for a bit.- 111829 replies

So that's the moderation queue UI. Perhaps just a mistake that a mod put in that was now reverted. It was not intended. We will investigate. -
Discuss the Stormlight 5 Prologue Here
Chaos replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Hi, sorry, the OP for these threads is more to just give you all a platform, rather than try and index people's various thoughts. You can certainly make a separate topic (tag with [SA5 Prologue] ) if you're worried about it being lost in the shuffle. That'd be like having our RoW Full Book reactions link to people's individual reactions. That's a bit odd. -
Yeah, uh, it's illegal for us to have kids under 13 on the site, straight up. 1. Favorite TV show is hard. I don't really watch regular TV shows ever anymore. Let's say Deep Space Nine. 2. Spaghetti with meat sauce. 3. Let's say Oathbringer. 4. Hmmmmm........ I don't know. I'm not really a character person. Elend maybe? Maybe Adolin. I don't have strong opinions.

Thanks for this thread. I'm an atheist so these experiences are completely alien to me, but interesting to read about!

I will say I don't think a typo thread is useful now. There are still multiple drafts to go before copyedits happen. There will be a lot of typos before then.

Oh, there's lots of us if you check out the Acknowledgements I actually really like Revenge of the Sith. That's just a fun movie. Some Lucas dialogue is terrible but it at least had a grand vision. You know, Rise of Skywalker and the sequels gave me a much bigger appreciation of the prequels. Like, the prequels had a grand vision but were executed in many ways pretty poorly, whereas the sequels are well-shot movies, but I think the poor planning and imagination there was... that destroys it for me. Plan your dang trilogies. I think Rogue One is fantastic and is probably the best Star Wars movie. Hah, I probably won't change it Though it does feel like that one is out of date...

Oh, right, I thought everyone knew I suppose I don't usually offer up the information, for sure. Yes, you can see my name is a great many books since Words of Radiance.
