Jondesu he/him Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 I’ll post some RP later, but for now I just wanted to weigh in (as I battle my autocorrect) with some minor game talk. We have 19 players, of which I’d assume up to four will be Elims (more would be a huge team, but less feels somewhat tough unless they have roles that would assist them, which they very likely do, so it could only be 3). I don’t remember if this was stated to be role madness, but I think it is, and as such I expect everyone to have something they can do. No, I’m not going to give recommendations, but just noting to please make sure to utilize whatever role abilities you have, as most or all of us could have a major influence on the game just based on whether we use what we have or not. I’ll randomly poke vote Dannex simply because they haven’t posted yet (to be removed unless I don’t like what they say). @Dannex, care to join in?

Szeth Pancakes he/they Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 (edited) Why hello there everyone! I’m going to have to read through the roles if I’m going to provide any sort of analysis, but my first impression is that this is going to be a rather hectic game. As my first role madness, I bet this is going to be fun! @Jondesu it is role madness. I think it says that at the top of the rules, or somewhere around there. I’m going to throw a poke vote on Azmine for now, purely because he hasn’t posted yet. So, yeah. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. Wear your seatbelt. I wonder how many ending catchphrases I can fit into one post. Edit: https://wordcounter.net/ A useful resource? Edited May 29, 2021 by Szeth_Pancakes
DrakeMarshall he/him Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Juno watched as the constables escorted a woman into the meeting hall. Isendwel, was it? It was. One of the poor sods that made up the entourage for the Elendel officials. Unremarkable except for the fact that she was apparently conspiring against Elendel. And, really, who could honestly blame her? Elendel wasn't all that. Juno had half a mind to speak up for the girl, only she held off, because blowing up Garmet's railways was bloody inconsiderate of these revolutionaries. Did they seriously have any idea how long it would take to repair those? Juno's wooden chair creaked in protest as she leaned back on it and propped her feet on the desk in front of her. This was gonna take a while. Whispers and then louder voices filled the hall. The constables looked on edge, bless their souls, like they actually expected the folks in charge to have a handle on the whole "revolution" thing. One of the dandies from Elendel suggested torturing Isendwel for information and got shouted down by his peers. Another wanted to negotiate with the rebels and got accused of siding with them. Eventually Goren managed to get things in order, and convinced everyone to more or less agree on killing the rebels. Problem solved. Well then. Juno stood up, stretching her legs and snatching one of those little quiche things from the refreshments table to nibble on as she walked. She made her way to the front of the hall, smiling blithely at the Elendel and Garmet officials amassed in front of her. She cleared her throat. "I have a proposal. The solution to our present dilemma is obvious. Why don't we all just walk to Elendel?"

+Lotus she/her Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Josephine was sick of this Serin-forsaken planet. The sooner she could get away, the happier she would be. But of course it wasn't easy to leave a city as this one, and her disappearance would have been remarked on a little too much. She could perhaps fake her own death, but she preferred to find other methods. Her ship was stashed out in the tundra, a remote place that a person was unlikely to stumble upon on accident. Once she could leave, she woud head out there and return to Endel-se. It had been too long since she had seen her wife Selephiel and she longed to get out of this place. Too much power. Too many gods. Not her favorite place. But she had to stay for now, and so she sat in this stifling room on a planet that had yet to develop air conditioning.

DrakeMarshall he/him Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Okay so game time. First thing's first, it is my duty as a villager to vote for a random person!! Except not necessarily completely random because there are already some people with some votes. And I'm not quite ready to put somebody in the lead for votes, not yet. Even by the end of the cycle ideally I want there to be a two-way tie in the votes. Go go tallybot: Vote Tally Experience (1): Archer Matrim's_Dice (1): manukos Azmine (1): Szeth_Pancakes Ashbringer (1): DrakeMarshall Ashbringer (@Ashbringer), congratulations you have been picked!! So... Idk what do you think about the game? Any interesting potential strategies a village or elim could use with all of these shiny roles? Personally, I was considering pretending to be a slider if I got to be an elim, bc you could pretend to have redirected an elim kill, and bc it would throw doubt on any scans made against you. I'm not even sure if players are informed if their actions are redirected, though. My preliminary thoughts for the game setup: Factions: I wouldn't worry too much about differentiating kandra and elims at this point: if we can manage to catch either today we're already doing quite well It goes without saying that I wouldn't let my guard down even if a dead player flips "kandra" Roles: There are a lot of them I hope nobody is literally just an aluminum gnat We must keep tineyes alive at all costs!! In addition to letting us talk amongst each other, they account for a quite substantial fraction of Garmet's economy! They represent two easily earned boxings given to each player every turn!* *Unless all tineyes are evil, in which case I will be sad, but we should probably kill them. Boxings: I want all of the boxings and don't have any If you have more boxings than me I might stab you Death will not stop me from obtaining boxings, and if there isn't a betting pool in the dead doc I will make one if and when I get there That is all, thank you for coming to my Ted-Talk. Also, feel free to PM me, I feel like using PMs more in this game 1
Ashbringer he/him Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 I apologize for the lack of a greeting. This message, for lack of a better word, has far too many possible recipients to use a general introduction. Faleast felt... odd. It was good to be back, to his home... but he wasn't really back, was he. It had been twenty-five years, but the events of the coup were well set into everyone's mind, and they remembered. They remembered the incursions from the Loyalists - strange, how the People's Republic's most devoted members called themselves by the same name as those who had formerly tried to take them down after the shift in power. They remembered how quickly they fell in the anti-coup, how they'd made the core of those they'd trusted - Darson, TJ, Reginald, Pyria, and Faleast. Faleast had things hidden from him, but he was still in the group. And then he'd killed both Pyria and Darson. Pyria had been one of the Loyalists, deep in hiding, for which the People's Republic of Elendel had been greatful... but Darson had been a true leader of the group, and his death had been a heavy blow to the others. The result was intriguing. Enough was known about the shapeshifters that the living PRE founders believed Faleast had nothing to do with AraRaash's actions, which... wasn't entirely true, but at that point in time it was true enough. However, they also knew the Faleast they knew and confided in was just a façade made by the kandra trying to bring down both sides, and they barely knew anything of Faleast before his... incident, including which cause he had originally supported. So Faleast was a wild card in the PRE's history: not revered like the survivors, not vilified like the Loyalists, not remembered like the fallen PRE members... just, noted. Noted that his actions were not his fault, but the dark stain of blood could not be shaken. AraRaash, of course, was Public Enemy Number One. Yes, he'd killed many more of the anti-PRE Loyalists than true souls, but that tended to be brushed under the rug. Originally he was hunted for being the killer of Darson, but over time as the People's Republic settled itself the higher-ups realized he was a convenient figure. Impossible to find - more impossible then they knew, in fact - and the only survivor of that final incursion known to oppose the PRE, he became a figurehead for the leader of anyone who opposed their regime. Whether the People's Republic leaders actually believed that or not, Faleast didn't know, but he knew the concept of giving someone to hate. AraRaash was very proud. So, Faleast was currently going by Fal, and looked about 23. He'd gotten some odd looks, as people realized he was named after a rather controversial figure, but it was better than going by Reg, like a good quarter of the teenagers did. Scadrian coat, and a few metal vials of several different varieties around his waist. Good to keep multiple covers. But he couldn't wear his old face, his old name, his old duster. Still... it was good to be back. (Hello! I forget the rules on doing >200 analysis and >200 RP in one post, so I'll do that in a bit. But I think you can guess which one is my priority at the moment.) 1
Szeth Pancakes he/they Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 "I have a proposal. The solution to our present dilemma is obvious. Why don't we all just walk to Elendel?" the woman called Juno said, biting into a cheddar-and-bacon quiche. Earl frantically scribbled this down on his notepad. The past few years he’d been <redacted> a journalist, he had gotten very good at shorthand and such. He’d even developed a signature style of it that was clear to him, but nigh indecipherable to anyone else who tried to read it, even if they did know shorthand. “Preposterous!” shouted half of the room. One official stood up and began listing all the reasons that would most definitely not work. Dannex, Earl believed was his name. Juno slunk back to her seat, her quiche in hand and a pour on her face. Excellent folder for the gossip columns. The debate went on, suggestions flying around the room. Earl looked around the room. There was a bored looking woman sitting in the corner of the room. Earl thought her name was Josephine, but couldn’t be sure. The room was descending into full-on bickering, with at least five people shouting at once. It really was terrible what was happening to these poor people. Someone would likely be dead before the day was out, and it probably was going to be someone innocent. Earl probably should think of himself as one of them. Whatever. He wasn’t flawless at this, unlike some people he knew.
Araris Valerian he/him Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 I’ll put a vote on Matrim before I get too worried that this post isn’t long enough. I won’t try and write posts beyond those at longer than 200 words deliberately..
DrakeMarshall he/him Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Juno smiled beatifically as the room around her exploded in outrage. Walk to Elendel?? They said. Preposterous! "No, no, really, think about it. It's the last thing our enemies will expect. We've got to be daring to get out of this fix, and what would be more daring than walking to Elendel? Clearly these rebels have made plans around this city, so what better way to throw a wrench in that then hitting the road?" Her audience did not look impressed. The opposite, in fact. Downright disrespectful of them, booing the principal member of the illustrious Garmet Board of Somethingorother like that. Downright disrespectful. "And, and! It's not as bad as you think! Judging by the distance..." Juno stared blankly for a moment, engrossed in mental calculations... "It's about five days journey, give or take. Some of you could probably manage less than even that if you went on ahead." Nothing? Rust and ruin, there was no pleasing these people today. She made a put-upon expression at the crowd. "Look, all's I'm saying is think about it. There's no reason we can't root out the traitors in our midst while we're on the move. Maybe we can put it to vote or somethin." Juno retreated back to her seat, absconding with a second quiche from the refreshments table. Those things were storming tasty. Better than this ungrateful crowd deserved, and that was the truth.
Ashbringer he/him Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Alright, let's see what I can do. First of all: I'm going to be doing a... lot of RP this game, hopefully. I'll still try to stick around, but my order of operations are RP first, survival to thus extend RP second, and analysis and other things as third. I've been surviving well enough on my own, so I'm not too worried about that, but... yeah. Second: Kandra. These are the rules for the kandra from LG66: Spoiler Kandra: Once per game, the Kandra can choose a target to turn into a new Kandra. The original player is killed and revealed to be the Kandra. If the Kandra is killed without choosing a replacement, a random player is converted instead. The new Kandra does not keep their original role(s). If an elim is converted, they remain in the elim doc and have access to the elim kill. The Kandra also has a kill available to them once every other night turn. These rules have likely changed based on how quickly the Kandra died last game (you did change them, right Striker? Riiiight?) but I suspect that the Kandra still has some form of body-snatch ability and in my opinion has a kill each turn, rather than just alternating turns. They may also be an Investigator to better get that Elim bonus for their successor. Third: 1 hour ago, DrakeMarshall said: Ashbringer (@Ashbringer), congratulations you have been picked!! So... My brainpower is freed from college, but right now it's mostly focused on figuring out what Faleast and AraRaash are going to be up to. There's a lot of powerful combinations - Soulbearer + Anything, Connectors + Anything, ye old Augur + Brute... I do wonder how a Trueself (which when storing, makes actions targeting a random individual target you as well) interacts with things like tracking / Auguring / Oracle / action detecters. I will note that those powerful interactions do have a decent chance of showing up: I'm pretty sure Striker made some of the Twinborn by hand last game (Augur/Brute, Coinshot/Archivist, Gasper + Thief, etc). But imbalanced ones (Coinshot+Soulbearer, or the Allomantic Gatling Gun) probably won't be a thing unless made by spikes. The Skimmer, Windwhisperer, Bloodmaker, Subsumer, and Connector are changed, along with the new items and non-Invested roles... I feel like the new roles will be messing with the most things. One gambit could be a roleblocking Elim role claiming Hazekiller, either using the info from an scanner to solidify the claim or just get someone exed for lying if they think it's worthwhile. There's also the effects of storing in the metals - mainly Brutes, but also Skimmers and Trueselfs (Trueselves?) - that could have interesting effects depending on whether a player thinks someone's going to act on them or not. Sliders and Pulsers do mess with things quite a bit, and now that there's a redirect item it can mess with things much more... I asked in LG66 if redirects were informed and got no real answer. I think they're not told. But fake-claiming a redirect usually goes... poorly.

It's interesting that the rules about kandras this game are so much lighter. I'm inclined to agree with the assessment that one of the secret rules relates to the kandra. I'd said they were basically a village ally before, but looking at what they can potentially do, I'm thinking they're more an element of chaos, which benefits the elims. This solidifies my 4 person elim team guess. One final note about LG66, Striker revamped the market place. He fixed the Bulletproof Vest and moved some prices. So bodyguard roles are now more valuable than before, and therefore more prevalent maybe?

Szeth Pancakes he/they Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 I don't like doing analysis this early D1, but I want boxings, so... here's some RP. Earl walked away from the meeting feeling pleased. Nothing much happened, but the snacks had been delicious, and he had some good material for an article about the event that he would publish when he got home to Elendel. Because he was a journalist. For the Elendel Times. I'm getting better at this, thought Earl. Wait... damn it. Earl walked into the hotel he, along with the other members of the delegation, were staying at, ever the stately journalist. Yes, he was a journalist, walking back to his hotel room after having gathered a good amount of information. Except, he walked past the room where he was staying, and into one three doors down. Then, he locked the door, and raced to the dresser, making no noise, and rifled through the clothes in it until he found what he was looking for - an innocuous-looking manila envelope. He looked through the peephole to make sure nobody was coming, then quietly unlocked the door, and walked towards his own room. He sighed, and plopped down on his creaky armchair, wincing at the noise it made, and opened the manila envelope. He read through it at lightning speed, then quickly snuck back out of his room, and into the one he had taken the envelope from, and deposited it back in the dresser. The information he'd uncovered could maybe save them all.

Szeth Pancakes he/they Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Does it count as a double post if the GM posts first ? From the notebook of Earl Euphemie, journalist for the Elendel Daily Terroists Attack Elendel and Garmet Representatives! On the morning of 26 Vinuarch, the train tracks between Elmsdel and Steinel were ruined by "rebel" sympathizers looking to attack the delegation of representatives from Garmet and Elendel. Some of these violent terrorists even infiltrated the delegation, posing as representatives from one area or another. One such terrorist, a woman under the guise of one Isendwel, was caught trying to run from the city later that night, and was executed the morning of 27 Vinuarch. A meeting was held later that day (with snacks, much to my delight), in which several delegates proposed ideas regarding their course of action for the next few days. One woman, who asked for her name not to be mentioned in this article, proposed walking to Elmsdel. This was shut down with boos and heckles almost immediately, since Elmsdel is two hundred miles away - a distance nobody was willing to travel on foot. Other ideas proposed included asking all of the rebels to raise their hands, hiring an assassin to ferret them out, doing nothing and eating snacks, and ending the meeting because everyone was tired and wanted to go to sleep. Needless to say, the meeting didn't get very far. 1

Hey, my brain power recently got freed from college too, high five. Anyways, seeing as you've answered my questions, the retraction of my vote would be in order, Ashbringer. I don't fully agree with inviting attack unless you have protection or want to imply that you do, but each to their own. (I'm not fishing for an answer to that, by the way. I'm happy to IKYK the elim doc) For what it's worth, I have known eliminators to say stuff like that at the beginning of a game, and I would personally not consider it alignment indicative either way. Quote I'm okay with wanting ties and applying broad pressure. It's good strategy, full stop. Being so transparent about it seems like an elim laying the groundwork to potentially protect their teammates later on by redirecting pressure into the crowd. The analysis section of the post felt a little padded to hit the 200 word mark, so I'm wondering if they just over shared to meet their quota. I agree that keeping the Tineye alive would be nice, but I'll exe them if they're suspicious. It's a NAI role. I looked at the LG66 Aftermath and one thing the GMs really emphasized was their inclination towards distribution trolling. I'm fairly transparent about my strategy except when I'm not I would argue that redirecting pressure is basically the whole point of the vote discussion, whether you are village or elim. I am very likely to attempt to redirect the course of at least one vote in this game, and I will not apologize for doing so. That said, if you are referring specifically to creating tied votes, that is a strategy I prefer to reserve for the earlier parts of the game, when I would generally rather have information than the ability to predict the outcome of a vote. I respectfully disagree with the notion that my 300+ word post was stretching and padding to get over the 200 word mark, and I am hurt by the very implication of such 1 hour ago, Araris Valerian said: Last time I tried to give any justification C1, a wild Quinn went for my throat (and she was even on my team...). The main motivation was that you already had a vote and I wanted to start making some pressure. What's this?? This post looks suspiciously like a justification!!! Araris

And I suppose since Quinn and I were both elim that game, you and I must both be evil right now. Which of course means that you are just trying to distance yourself from me, and there isn't really any threat of you pushing for my death this cycle .
