Rube Goldberg, the man himself.

For he had built the most incredible machine ever to see the light of day. The Infinity Machine, it was called. Within its gears, levers, and bowling balls lay the answers to life’s greatest secrets.

It would only take a couple shardic heartbeats before it was all done.

Except...

None of the Shards had hearts anymore.

But this paradox was all part of the Infinity Machine's design.

For Infinity to be completed was impossible, and therefore never could infinity be completed until the impossible happened. So all Rube Goldberg had to do was wait.

He wasn't waiting long when round the bend, Hoid came along.

Goldberg glanced at his machine, hopeful. Was this impossible enough to fuel Infinity?

It was also Friday the thirteenth, A monday, and Christmas all at the same time.

A faint glow emanated from the machine, and a pure tone rang out in the air.

It caused several cats to die.

However, it did not cause any rats to die. It would have, but Ene had cast a spell protecting all rats everywhere from death by Pure Tones of Death coming from Mysterious Machines.

Rube Goldberg sighed disappointedly. The machine had not  been fully activated.

Meanwhile, some airplanes were on their way to drop bombs on Rube Goldberg's Infinity Machine.

But Butt got there first.

This impossibility was.

But was Butt's mere existence and proximity to the Infinity Machine enough impossibility to activate it?

It was certainly a possibility.

But was it an impossible possibility?

It was, and it did cause the machine to activate.

But it was such a possibility that it shut back down.
