So... question 1 is how many alignments are there. If it was a simple Eliminators Vs Village game, there's no need for there to be a blackout game. Unless, relying on that assupmtion is what our GMs want and that actually is the case. Which then disolves into an IKYK of chaos. I want to ask if there's a typical eliminator faction, but that could make me look like a fake "Is there a faction I'm actually a part of" innocent or it could just be proof I am. Whether or not innocence is actually aplicable to this game. There's probably a vanilla faction, but the vanillas might actually have a role. gahoueitrhaeotehautea

The mention about nighthound being a Serial Killer in red implies that's either a joke or serial killers are a thing. So were those rolles and alignment all just jokes or are they serious?

You could assume its a game with 'n' factions. If that number 'n' simply turns out to be 2, then we have a classic village vs elim game. I'll be going by that principle.

Second Blackout game. The last one ended abruptly when the elim team got knocked out by Orlok. Village won.

No Lynch or kill meaning we will most likely be finding out about game mechanics as the day passes.

I won't be misled this time :P

And can Items give/change roles, I wonder.

Someone would want to pass items if, say, they have two items that gives a kill, but we can't use more than 1 action per turn.  1 item will be useless in that person's possession. So it would be ideal to pass it onto another player that they think is a villager. Elim would pass it to an elim obv.

Or if it can't be used by someone due to their alignment or role.

Emphasis mine

Why would you assume items can give roles? I mean, I don't think its typical of items to grant roles. It just seems like too specific a question. One of the more plausible scenarios I can think of is that you're in a PM with someone and you want to verify a claim or something. Other than that, I don't know why one would ask such a question. (So, yeah, any specific reason you're asking this question? Even if you don't wish to share it, just say there is a reason and leave it there)

(This has set off alarms in my head, but I think I'm willing to dismiss those for now)

Or the lava lakes. Definitely not the lava lakes.

Okay, so we don’t know anything yet except our own roles, unless you’re in an Elim team or a faction that has a doc, and we don’t know which of those exist. Anyone with a PM role, can you please make sure you use it, so communication can begin? I’m open for PMs, but I can’t start them.

Given that this is a blackout game with restricted PMs, I suspect there will be at least one faction with a doc or something.

I am going to go out further on a limb, and say that my win con will hurt someone, but if there is a village then our win cons should align. Can anyone else confirm that Elithaneithilethile is correct? In your PM did it say the word Neutral in yellow?

And by this, we can assume your PM did not have it in yellow.

Unless something changed since the last time I was here, isn't it not allowed to verify facts based on the specific wording or colouring in the GM PM?

I guess that's mostly it?

Also, does anyone know why seonid made this post? Specifically the emboldened part.

This suggests to me that there is much more planning going on behind the scenes than any one of us can see.

Personally, I'm willing to bet this is a multi-faction game.

Oh it's simple really. The last blackout game I played had such a function where items could change roles. Most of that post is based on experience from that game and I'm just throwing some ideas out there.

It's copy and pasting that's the problem. We can't verify that Neutral in Yellow is a real color/alignment combo. I'm just making deductions.

I thought the problem was just quoting because you could easily make a copy paste up.

edit: by that I mean it's possible. Obviously you shouldn't.

I'm not aware that you can but I thought it said something like that in the rules.

Maybe I'm just wrong

Yeah, my fault there. I should have specified.

What elithanathile is asking for wouldn't be allowed, right?

Edit: Megasif: I see. No problem then, I guess.

I was under the impression that items are consumable.

Some are and some aren't. I have both kinds.

Cranium woke up to the smell of something burning. He sat up and turned on the headlamp tied to his forehead. Everything in the lab was where he had left it. Chemicals in various containers, gears (circular or otherwise), petri dishes containing specimen which may or may not start a plague, a test tube boiling over in the corner with a Bunsen burner under it that he forgot to turn off...

Cranium stumbled over to the flame. Just as he tripped on a screwdriver, the test tube exploded. This wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't lead to twelve other explosions around the lab. Cranium coughed and waved his hand in a feeble attempt to remove the smoke. Looked like he needed to build a new lab. Oh well. Just one of the many trials in the life of a genius. Calamity had granted him the great power of the mind. So what if the humans said things like "your inventions don't work" (that's what test runs are for), "you're not actually an Epic" (what do mortals understand about that), and "you accidentally set your house on fire" (he was planning on moving anyways). One day Mirialis would see what a true Epic really looks like- once he got his Quantum Shooter working.

Cranium's thoughts were interrupted by screaming from outside.

"An Epic has attacked the hospital!"

Another Epic? In his territory? Now's as good a time for a test run as any, Cranium figured. He picked up his Quantum Shooter, which took a good five minutes considering its weight and size, and headed towards the hospital.

im going to be inactive for the next two days.

So I'm going to role claim. I am also neutral. To somewhat prove my claim, I'm going to present a few facts.

First off I have no idea what the village and eliminator factions are. I know there is a reckoner faction, based on my PM. But I don't know if it is village or not.

Also @Elithanathile if you are the same thing as me, I would reccomend you target Nighthound. He is targetable.

I've never been a neutral before, so I will try to be neutral to the best of my ability.

Very smart king cole.

If that's true, that's 3 neutrals. I think I see how this game might be set up. There probably aren't too many more neutrals, and I'll be suspicious of anyone else trying to claim neutral, without some evidence.

I think it might be epics v reckoners, with neutrals benefiting from both sides. There are probably some other things in there, but I'm not aware of them so I won't just speculate randomly.

I'll RP some more later.

Matt woke up next to the lava lake that that one person threw to kill Nighthound. He heard yelling about a justice seeking epic. He decided that now would be a good day to go looking for some tech to sell cause of the no killing rules today. As he walked away from the comfortable warmth provided by lava, he saw that crazy dude who claimed to be an epic carrying a really heavy looking thing towards the hospital.

I've never been in a black out game before, so this should be interesting. Yay for finally getting back into SE, though. :D

With the group of neutral player claims that seems to be growing, I have to wonder what their win condition is. In vanilla Village v. Eliminators, the goal is really just to kill the other team. I'd guess that the win condition of possibly Epics v. Reckoners wouldn't care about Neutral players, but how would the Neutral players win?

I had an idea for a Reckoners game before in which the town could either help the Reckoners kill off the Epics, or the Epics kill off the Reckoners, and could win either way, but I never worked it out to exactly what their win con would be.  Just eliminating one side or the other didn't seem like it would be enough to me, not if they were going to truly have to choose for non-flavor reasons.

Silver Feather spotted a likely target. Moderately fancy clothes, a silvery wristwatch, nice shoes. Perfect for swindling.

He sidled up to the fellow.

"Allo, mate! Have you heard about my product?"

The Neutrals have their own individual win-cons, usually completely separate of either faction. I have a feeling that the roles will be like ToS, because of the Serial Killer in the write up (and because of what my role is). So I don't see much reason to worry about the Neutrals for now.

Yes,  it's possible.

No, you shouldn't.

Yes,  you will be modkilled if you try in this (or any) game.

Yes, Balelight is the modkill button :D

Cool. Almost tempts me enough just to see what the write up would be... almost but not quite.

Anyway, it's more RP time.

Impulse stood in the court yard. He admired the lava lake in the middle of it. Very interesting epic powers indeed.

His sunglasses glinted as he surveyed the crowd. The epics didn't try to stand out here. But reckoner activity had still been reported. And where epics and reckoners fought, there was money and power to be gained.

Even now, one epic was busy slaughtering people in the name of justice. Impulse almost scoffed at that. There was no justice. Not anymore. Just the will of the Epics.

And people like himself.

This was the perfect place to set up shop. It would take a day to get set up, even with his speed, but then he would spread his influence through the city.

Even during the apocalypse, as some people put it, there is always profit to be made.

Blackout is fun, but at the same time I hate it so much. @Flash RP perhaps? Could I interest you in a fancy lizard cocktail? (Non-alcoholic, of course.)

Just edited some into my previous post.

A lizard cocktail?

Impulse stood in complete confusion for a moment. Why in the world would anyone take the time to make a lizard into a cocktail?

Well, then again, Tequila was a thing, so...

"I'm afraid I'll have to turn you down. I... just ate," said Impulse in his gravely voice.

Just want to point out that Matt's max age would be ~14. He doesn't remember anything before the coming of Calamity.

Impulse was more than a little confused. A bird was offering him a lizard cocktail. And blocking his way.

He was strongly tempted to punch the stupid bird into its proper place, but decided to make friends instead.

He handed over the cash and took the lizard cocktail. It took all of his willpower not to chuck it immeadietly. But he didn't, and walked away into a more run down side of town. The perfect place for his lair.

Poor lizard. Curiosity got the better of him, and he took a tiny sip. He promptly wished he hadn't.

The cup and lizard cocktail strewn on the street, he opened his suitcase. "Beautiful" he whispered.
