xxGaea They/Them, Fae/Faer Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Altea looked out from around the corner of a building, watching all the seemingly insane people mill about her. 'What is this place? I've never been to a world as...crazy...as this one. That world with the rebellion was much simpler than this. At least I knew what was going on, somewhat. It is entirely absurd in this place. What is this talk I hear of special items, anyway? That's not something I have encountered before. Maybe I should go talk to some of the locals, to try and get some insight on this world...' Altea ran an internal monologue as she looks around for someone to speak to. Someone who looked less crazy than everyone else. She looks around, before carefully making her way into the..park..? She thought it might be a park, but there was a giant lake of lava in the center that was throwing her. 'Why would there be a lake of lava in such a public place..?' She mused to herself, carefully and quietly walking towards the giant pool of fiery death. [I am back now, and will be active online for the next few hours until Joe gets off work. This is the second game where I will be primarily communicating in character, so don't expect much in the way of ooc comments, as they will be few and far between. I will put analysis in my rp posts as I see the need for it, but you may not pick up on said analysis. Little Altea is a bit...vague...when it comes to things like that. Also, I have not actually read the Reckoners series. @Ecthelion III just mentioned me in-thread and said I should sign up, so I did. The concept for the game sounded fun, and I thought I would give it a go. xD Anyway, if anyone wants to rp with little Altea, feel free to reply.]

Paranoid King he/him Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Relick had a good name. Admittedly, Relic had already been taken, but it didn't really matter. When you had your rival up against the wall, begging for mercy, you didn't need to spell it out for them. He picked up a piece of rubble from the ground, flipping it idly in his hand. Each flip, it changed form. First a stone with runes inscribed in it, then a wooden chalice, then an ancient bar of chocolate. He stopped there, munching on it as he watched the city burn. Someone should probably quench that lava. Forgot I was actually playing for a bit there. Anyways, college is starting for me this week, so forgive me if I don't post all that often. I'll try to get on every day, but things might be a bit busy.

We should do that rp together this game, since we were so rudely killed before we could before. 1
Rebecca she/her Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Tammy crept closer to the source of commotion. She could see people running from what looked like a hospital. As she got closer she could hear someone yelling about justice. Probably another stupid epic. Not that you could find one that wasn't stupid, it was just that with some it was particularly apparent. Like her father. Anger began to build up inside Tammy, but she managed to temporarily push it down. Anger was not what she wanted right now. She needed to stay calm and focused. To help her mood, she went over the plan again. Tammy would hide, and hope that the people she was looking for would soon make their appearance.

He was strongly tempted to punch the stupid bird into its proper place, but decided to make friends instead. He handed over the cash and took the lizard cocktail. It took all of his willpower not to chuck it immeadietly. But he didn't, and walked away into a more run down side of town. The perfect place for his lair. Poor lizard. Curiosity got the better of him, and he took a tiny sip. He promptly wished he hadn't. The cup and lizard cocktail strewn on the street, he opened his suitcase. "Beautiful" he whispered. Silver happily counted off his money as he strolled back to his factory. That self-important epic had payed cheap, sure, but Silver had covertly snapped a photo of the big, scary, intimidating epic holding the lizard cocktail. He would definitely use this in his billboard ads. He heard the glass shatter. Silver tuned. That horrendously ungrateful epic had thrown the drink away. This situation needed remedying immediately. Silver sprinted over to the epic. "Beautiful!" the epic whispered, staring at something in a suitcase. Silver tapped him on the shoulder, and started talking very fast. "Excuse me, sir, but would sign this customer satisfaction report?" "Would you be interested in some lizard-based souvenirs or memorabilia?" "Does a franchising opportunity sound profitable to you?" "Business partnership?" "Product lines?" "Great investing opportunities?"
Hemalurgic Headshot he/him Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Outblack liked the shadows. Well, he didn't really need them, but they helped. You can't see, but he absorbed light. All light. As black as pitch. He could even draw in light, sucking it right from its source. He always wondered if he could suck the light out of the sun. The sun was his true nemesis, one could say. Outblack didn't care for anyone, nobody. He stuck to his place, and usually, people stuck to theirs. Not always, though, so that was when he had to step in and put them in their place. Wasn't pretty. The problem with absorbing light was that it got hot, fast. It was pretty toasty most of the time, but he couldn't die from heat, luckily. It was just a little uncomfortable, that's all. It wasn't a good idea to touch him after he'd "eaten" some light, because it would sear your flesh off. It was this particular day that Outblack sat in the alley, absorbing ambient light. The nook had been dim before, but now it was the definition of darkness. Absence of light, right there. Outblack liked things like that, when no one can see. It levels the playing ground. Forces people to rely on their other senses, just like he had to after the Incident. Don't get ahead of me now, the Incident had nothing to do with Calamity. Calamity just gave the situation a bit of a dramatic effect and poetic justice. Long story short, Outblack is blind. Literally blind as a bat, exactly like a bat. He knows what sound shoes make on gravel, on pavement, on concrete, on dirt, sand, grass... what the shoe is, how heavy the person is, etc. He stores it up in that good brain of his, uses his time to memorize the information. He knows the ins and outs of this town, better than anyone with eyes could. And if he could blot out the sun, he would reign. 4
Sami she/her Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 (edited) Sandra was in a fizzle. Lava in park. Hospital in Flames. And someone crazy inviting everyone around to a party to celebrate having pushed Nighthound into a lake. She decided the hospital was her first priority and began to dash over in that direction. A second too late she noticed a Birdie with a bowtie who was bus talking to an Epic, who was busy staring into his suitcase. Tripping over them, she narrowly avoided smashing her face full in on the concrete sidewalk. Edited August 21, 2017 by Sami

Hemalurgic Headshot he/him Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Outblack is a man of few words. He doesn't like people, if that wasn't clear enough already. But the death of a High Epic brings the unfortunate from all around, and it breaks all social norms. Outblack hates when social norms are broken. Of course he didn't leave his alley, he had no need to. Rumor had it that Nighthound drowned in a lake of lava, in curious fashion, located in the city park. That's ridiculous. There could be no way that an Epic of such proportions as Nighthound to simply drown in a lake of lava. Outblack was smarter than that. It had to be a hoax of some sort... a deception. The real Nighthound, not the phony that everyone saw, must be out there somewhere... somewhere else.
Hemalurgic Headshot he/him Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 What? No, Outblack is not a cruel, hardhearted tyrant spawned of Calamity. He was like that beforehand, sort of. But in his dark, light-consuming heart, he has a soft spot for orphans. Calamity made heaps of them. For weeks afterwards, lonely children roamed the streets, having lost parents or siblings or both, with no skills and tools to save themselves. They hid under dumpsters, in alleys, inside cars. Many fell victim to Epics. Outblack hated to see this. The slaughter of young innocents. So, naturally, when the scrawny youth wandered into his alley, saw the all-consuming darkness, and turned to run, the darkness would fade, revealing a grim man in a trench coat offering a loaf of wheat bread. The pre-sliced kind you get from the grocer. The child's face would brighten at the sight of food, yet it would warily eye the giver. As always, the stomach wins the battle, and the bread is taken, leaving behind empty hands and a hidden smile. Don't ask him where he got the bread. That's his secret, and if you knew about that, you must know about other things... and Outblack doesn't like that information being handed about freely. So what is the purpose of telling you this? Well, first, Outblack is like an onion, he has many layers. Second, I want you to know how he knows everything around the city like he does. It's obvious: orphans. They call him Dark Uncle, which is an apt description. It seems like he doesn't like it, but I know that it brings him satisfaction to hear a young voice say it. So now you know. Don't tell anyone you heard it from me. 5
Shqueeves Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Matt was walking along when he saw a blacked-out alleyway, meaning Dark Uncle was there. He always had bread. And, if you asked real nicely he occasionally would toast a slice. Matt decided to say hello and tell him some news. "Black Uncle, someone killed Nighthound by throwing a lake of lava at him. Weird right? Also, i found this mobile, but it doesn't work right, see." Matt held up a mobile, and an electronic voice said "your call cannot be placed at this time. Please try again later." "Anywho, i was wondering if you could give me a slice of toasted bread"
Hemalurgic Headshot he/him Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Blackout heard the footsteps long before the voice. Well, not that long, but he wasn't about to tell you that. It was an orphan, from the sound of it. 20 minutes ago, Shqueeves said: Matt was walking along when he saw a blacked-out alleyway, meaning Dark Uncle was there. He always had bread. "Anywho, i was wondering if you could give me a slice of toasted bread" Outblack almost laughed at the mobile, but he didn't. He doesn't laugh. The darkness began to recede as he relaxed. He knew the feeling of it enough to know. He reached into his coat and fumbled around. He scowled. "Wait a moment," he told Matt. Matt waited. Outblack fumbled around the garbage behind him before feeling the smooth plastic bag. He raised it up and sniffed it. It smelled of garbage. "Um, Dark Uncle, that's sourdough," Matt said. Outblack regarded the loaf in his hands. Sourdough? He reached into the bag and pulled it out. It wasn't even pre-sliced. Think of the children! He growled and ripped off an end in his hands, the crust darkening and charring. Outblack sniffed it. Well toasted. He tossed the end of bread to Matt. He didn't hear the piece fall, so he assumed Matt had caught it. "Don't hurt your teeth on that. And about the mobile, try to find one of those electricity Epics around... Outlet, I think that one was. Stupid name, why did he even come up with... Anyways, he'll know what to do with it. Be sure to tell him Outblack sent you, so he doesn't fry your hide off." Outblack growled. He assumed Matt nodded, and he scampered off. He tensed again, and the light was sucked away again. He seared the sourdough, sourdough! in his hands, and took a bite. At least the blasted bread tasted better burnt.
Rebecca she/her Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Tammy was almost to the hospital now. She went as fast as she could while doing her best to not get noticed. That was a bit difficult though, as she didn't know the city all that well. She had only been here a day. Lost in her thoughts, she passed a dark alley, but then slowly backtracked as she realized she had seen something odd. The alley seemed extra black. Normally she would have thought nothing of it. But she had trained her eyes to spot epics. And this was definitely an epic. She knew she should probably ignore it, but she couldn't help herself. Sneaking as best as she could, Tammy slowly entered the alleyway. 1
Elenion he/him Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 OK guys, it's time to elucidate a few facts, make a few deductions, and alignment claim: 1. Sorry about not posting, I didn't realize the game had started and I was busy putting together my D&D adventure for our D&D discord server. 2. I'm surprised nobody village has said this yet (FoS at you all :P), but I'm village--"Loyal Citizen" in green--and my role PM explicitly states that I'm allied with Balelight. I (and presumably the rest of the village, I hope) win if all threats to Balelight are eliminated. 3. Based on that information from #2, the eliminators in this game are likely out to kill Balelight. I've never read Reckoners, but I've been around on the Shard enough to know that the Reckoners and Epics want to kill each other, so I'd put a bet down that the elims are the Reckoners. Anyone willing to take that bet? 4. I'm not an Epic. I have a feeling some other players are, by what's been said about targeting Nighthound--a confirmed, dead epic. 1
Shqueeves Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 @Rebecca As Matt left the alleyway, he saw someone doing a really bad job at sneaking. "Hello! Would you like to eat some toast today? It's sourdough, but it really isn't that bad toasted."
BrightnessRadiant she/her Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 @Shqueeves did you just hold up a mobile and say "see?" to a blind guy? xD 2

Well, it would be lame if this was a Reckoners game without any Epic roles. Also, with the high likelihood of there being an opposing Reckoners team, I'm also guessing that their win condition is to take out Balelight, who I assume is one of those playing and not an NPC. I'm just curious what constitutes a threat to Balelight, exactly. Is it just the Reckoners, or does it extend to neutral roles?
Eternum he/him Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I think the Reckoners are neutral roles, if Flash, Cole and Elithanathile are to be believed.
Majestic he/him Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Celebration? Awesome! Rashers made it rain bacon. I'm guessing there are quite a few neutral roles around. My guess is that Reckoners are generally village and most Epics are Elims, but it may just be vice verca. Perhaps neutrals could be other killing roles, (Epic or Citizen), healing roles, seeking roles or more. My thoughts. Enjoy the bacon!

They are probably the eliminator faction. Thank you elenion for identifying the village faction. I do not have a kill. I am interested in getting in contact with both factions, however. @Roadwalker Enough was enough. He took a bite of the bacon, and focused his hard stare on the bird. "You want business? I've got business." And Impulse pulled out his beautiful gravitonics rail gun. An extremely compact rail gun, without the gravitonics it would be impossible to wield. It glowed blue and red; unbelievably deadly, but beautiful. "This is my buisiness partner. I'm afraid any deals will have to go through her." Impulse grinned at the bird. Arinian Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I was not very active this cycle... but anyway there was not much to discuss. On 20.08.2017 at 4:17 AM, Elithanathile said: Please note that as it has been some time seen the last post and nobody has seen fit to intervene, Falchion now has several more swords in his collection, and the city has several less museums in it's own. Next the hospitals because the injured are just taking up space and resources anyway. Don't you just love justice? Also it looks like some items are probably one-use, judging by what HH said, but do we have any proof that there aren't any items that are permanent? It seems like what Megasif said makes it sound like there are some items that can be used more than once as well. So we probably know that at least. Also I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that my alignment is Neutral. I'm not a villager or an eliminator, I have my own unique (probably) win condition, that doesn't hurt anybody else. Neither party (or multiple if there's factions) really has a reason to kill me, so I'm hoping I'm safe in revealing my alignment like this. So that should be a bunch more info to everyone else, besides the other neutrals who know who they are. Oh... I hope Seonid added role whose win condition it's to kill all neutrals or some certain neutrals I really hope he added 1
