Kaymyth
Voluntold (verb, past tense): When a person or group of people is volunteered for an often undesirable task without their consent and usually without consulting them first. Example: Twi's family got a showing on Sunday morning while they were in church. Twi was Voluntold to stay at the church with her youngest sister and the sister's friend, then bring them home after. And if they'd ASKED me what I wanted to do, I wouldn't be so annoyed. Come on, Iowa library, give Twi the job offer already! Get her out of there!
TwiLyghtSansSparkles
And I got voluntold to ask Pastor to pray about our house by virtue of me being the only one here. So when I expressed dismay over that, because I don't LIKE doing awkward things like marching up to the front of the church while everyone is looking at me to ask for things, I looked like a complete chull. Thanks, family. Edited January 17, 2016 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles
Delightful
Just "Nope I'm not going to do that." And then retreat to the nuclear bunker until Algona calls back.
Zathoth
You could be a lot more sarcastic about itTwimom: "I promised Soandso that you would do this for them" Twi: "Guess you are a liar then."
Delightful
"You promised. You do it." "How nice of you to volunteer my time. But see, I'm already volunteering that time to look after puppies living in terrible homes. Like mine." "Yes well, I volunteered you to go buy me six chooclate cakes. If you don't get them now, they'll all go to waste and it will be entirely your fault." "I volunteered you for the Mars Mission but they refused to take you. So in order to soften the blow, I won't do this thing I'm volunteered for either. All for you mother deares" *sickly sweet smile and saunter off* ............... bound to work. ....... .... got that nuclear bunker ready?
Kaymyth
"I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave." And use your mother's momentary confusion at being called Dave as an opportunity to flee.

Stormgate
It's been said before, I'll say it again. That's why this thread exists.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles
Discovery writing can be fun. Rewarding. There's a strange sort of satisfaction to be found when your own characters surprise you. Yet there comes a moment in the life of every discovery writer when this happens…. It's a moment that happens daily.
Stormgate
Anyone notice that the people drawing SpongeBob put more effort into pieces of wood than into the main characters? I reference above picture.
ChickenPlague
The wood is in the background and doesn't need to be animated. That's why it's more detailed.
Kaymyth
Oh, look, the parking lot is a giant ice slick. Someone's already slipped and fallen trying to get out to their car, and I'm gonna have to scrape my poor CARDIS out. I am not looking forward to driving home. *grump*

Kaymyth
I feel like I should understand that acronym. It isn't an acronym, it's the transliteration of the sound the TARDIS makes when it materializes and dematerializes. It's in all-caps because...well, because all license plates use capital letters.

TwiLyghtSansSparkles
Eyup. Shhhh, soon you will be free, Sirius. And this time, there will be no need to disguise yourself as a dog, find your werewolf friend, and beat up your ex-friend who is now a rat. You just have to wear a stupid dress and hat to get out of there.

And so of course I'm on the Shard instead... You'll pick yourself up. You've been doing this for twelve years; you can handle five more months.
