Or, you know, on the Shard instead of studying. I was thinking about how partial Lashings work, and whether you could Lash half your weight to opposite walls -- which would have the same effect as a normal up-down half Lashing. Then, I wondered if you could form an almost a slingshot-like Lashing by Lashing yourself to two points on opposite sides -- but also ahead -- of yourself. And if you can do that, why can't you Lash yourself to two lines on opposite sides of yourself? It would be like the rails of a train, but with gravity. Then, you could Lash yourself forward in the direction of the lines to zip along them. And, is there a way to make fabrials that do that? You could set up a whole system of Lashing-based transit. Anyway. Studying. Are you studying for a physics test, by any chance?

The Harlem Worldhoppers he/him Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 You know you're a Sanderfan when you have an interest in compounding but no compounding interest. 7
Archer he/him Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 So I met someone named Storm today. And yes, I may have made too many inside jokes. She got weirded out after a few minutes. But it was totally worth it 4

Ink he/him Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 When someone says they are a lefty and you hear them say they are Alethi when you try to speak in a Hezadarian accent for the day, and everyone at work is confused at the accent but you find it hilarious. 1

Exactly. I am a physics nut and keep trying to apply cosmere physics to real life and vice versa. Sorry for the double post...
Rebecca she/her Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 When your sister tricks you into doing something for a game we were playing, and she totally thought she got me, but then I told her that I hadn’t done it with real intent, so it didn’t count. She was like, “Oh,” and agreed with me. 4
+robardin he/him Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 (edited) When you read a newspaper article where an automobile industry executive talks about making cars "that have identity and build connection", and you get excited thinking that they're somehow making unsealed metalminds with air conditioning that can go 70 MPH. (Yes, this happened to me for real, this morning on the train) He also talked about the future progression self-driving cars (going from stage 1, just having warning indicators, to where we are now at stage 3, with the car being able to take over in emergency situations, all the way to stage 5, no driver input needed at all), and how designs that allowed for "autonomy" (the ability for the driver to do stuff if/when desired, and not just be human cargo) would be a key area for differentiation between manufacturers. Hmm. Perhaps Adonalsium was originally from Detroit? Edited June 20, 2018 by robardin 8

Devout Pathian Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 When you are studying for the GRE (a test to get into grad school) and you look up some vocab you need to know and one of them is “ostentatious” and you already know what the word means and think, “Thanks Vivenna!” 4
