LG112 - Metacycle Eight: False Hope

The Shard came back on. The mods rushed to ban their next suspect. Then, the Shard didn't go offline again. They kept waiting, expecting the site to go down, but it never did.

Had they succeeded? Finally?

They began investigating the last player they had banned.

Their investigation revealed…

Nothing.

~

Lettuce has been executed! They were a SE Player Lurker (kinda fitting, huh?)

Vote Count:

Xino (1): Araris

Lettuce (5): Striker, Hoid, Kit Kat, Divergent

This cycle will end on Monday the 22nd of June at 11:00 AM Central Time.

Players:

Bahhh, knew it made more sense for it to be Star but I guess I just couldn't connect all the dots.

But no kill? Wth??

Is it like 6-2 now?

Rereading through metacycle 5, Qian was soft-clearing Star. At this point, we hadn’t really settled on Qian as elim, so I can buy him defending a teammate. I do still think xino is a compelling option for the exe today as well, and I’m still unconvinced by the distro argument in regards to his alignment.

Either Star was very good at acting upset with me in PMs over me doing my little Investiture gambit, or they’re not elim. I’m leaning towards the latter and would prefer a vote on another inactive player. Or maybe go for Araris again, because I could see him intentionally forgoing a kill to frame the inactives.

So you’re saying I wasn’t good at being upset with you for your investiture gambit? Rude.

I just wasn’t upset.

I’m not sure why you’re focusing on the convert side of things here. We have a very high degree of certainty that either xino or Star is elim. The alternative is that the elims were totally absent from the pseudo-elim doc, which seems unbalanced and doesn’t square with them knowing to kill Star to end the pseudogame.

Given the lack of NKs this point may be somewhat irrelevant, but I’ll say it anyway. If we let the elims know who we think is a convert and any of those players are village, they can just kill outside of that group. If we don’t say anything, they might NK someone that we were considering as a convert, and narrow our POE for us. I suppose I should thank you in the sense the you’ve basically guaranteed that I won’t get NK’d this game.

They can be elim and still be genuinely upset over being screwed over for Investiture :P.

Oh well lucky you then

I was not so fortunate

Idk about you but to me it seems like Striker chose who he gave his investiture to really well.

If Star’s Elim then he managed to rip off 3 different meta Elims with the exact same deal

speaking of which, after this over you’re gonna have to tell me how you and Ver didn’t talk and find out what Striker was doing

I was saying we go after inactives, and if that doesn’t prove effective, then we go for you.

Oh yeah. I didn’t even think of that. That’s really funny. I figured at least one of the people I was scamming would be a MetaElim, but two of them? And they didn’t even connect the dots? That’s really funny.

Star was the only one who seemed genuinely betrayed. I felt so bad I gave her my investiture on C2.

And for what it’s worth, I did give some people investiture. Just not everyone I promised. :P

so in a world where Star is elim, did they just not get changed from being Tineye?

I'm confused with the no kills

Cus like there's only Xino right who isn't active?

Star is kinda inactive as well. But there was also a missed kill back when Qian was alive, and he's been active the whole game, so who really knows what is going on.

I checked and thought Qian only talked at the start of that cycle, so it might have been possible for him to be away and not submit by the end, but turns out he was also there at the end so yeah that's weird. I don't rlly see how it benefits them to not kill twice by now

The only options I can think of here are 1) the last elim(s) is/are inactive and are missing kill submissions; or 2) whoever the last elim(s) is/are feel so confident in their ability to win that they’re just messing with us.

I'd hope it isn't this. I'd consider that bad sportsmanship, especially since in this case it's going to drag the game on.

Hmm. Yeah I guess that’s fair. It’s probably not, I just have a tendency to think of all the possible scenarios.

Wait, why did everyone turn against me all of a sudden?
Sorry guys, I was offline for the past few days, but I’m wondering, what is the argument for me being an elim?

TJ, in answer to your question last cycle, I was on Nalthis the whole time. I kept forgetting that I could change my world, and finally remembered it that last cycle, which is why I wanted lettuce to submit the kill instead of me.
Also why wasn’t there an NK? What am I missing there?

We know with a high degree of certainty that one of the pseudo-elims is a meta-elim. You and xino are the only two left that haven’t flipped as meta-village. Hence, either you or xino (or in a slim possibility, both) is a meta-elim. TJ thinks that meta-elim xino would brake the balance of the pseudogame too much, by allowing them to quickly have 2 coinshots. I don’t find that argument as compelling as he makes it out to be, but I do find it rather suspicious that Qian ruled you out from being a meta-elim back during metacycle 5, before we had put any pressure on him.

If you want to direct us to any of your posts that you think make you look village, I’m happy to reconsider. I would normally say something about arguing for why xino is more suspicious, but he really just hasn’t posted enough to give anyone a read IMO.

The lack of a NK seems to be due to inactive elims (which unfortunately doesn’t help distinguish between you and xino). In theory there should also be a convert, and converting an inactive player seems like an iffy strategy, so inactivity doesn’t really explain everything. Could have easily just been a miscommunication about who was supposed to send in the action or something.

Technically Hoid could be M!elim, but only if he was converted

My post was just addressing xino/Star. The last elim, assuming a conversion has happened, could be any of the remaining players. I have thoughts on who the most likely convert targets are but I'm holding those back in the hopes that perhaps one of them will get hit by the NK and narrow things down. Of course, that's all assuming that there weren't 5 elims to begin with.
