Hmm I remember reading about this in pseudocycle 2 and thinking his reaction was off. What was the scan roll and when did it happen?

He claimed that Striker was a meta village newbie(I don’t remember exactly when this happened) but he can’t have had that information.

retiree only gives role

roleplayer role only gives alingment(with a chance to be wrong if the person also has the role player role)

Striker said that Ver was right about the scan, so we assume Ver’s meta Elim retiree, and claimed Roleplayer role earlier in order to try and save himself from Araris saying he scanned him

Oh okay yeah, I think I did see that, in Pseudo 3?

And yeah, he was moving weird with Araris too even though he supposedly had said he got a village result

So, is Striker Newbie or not? I'm reading the roles rn and idk if I understand the role correctly, but it says that he loses his life on the fourth cycle and it hasn't happened

If we exe people like a list we’ve had since cycles ago, it means we aren’t making any new analysis and it means anything the elims are doing now is slipping past us cause we’re still hung up in the past

So yeah I oppose a Verdance exe

I don’t have any other ideas though

My Pseudo-GM turned TJ both times, btw

I do agree with the part about needing new analysis, I feel like the game's been sorta stagnant the past couple cycles and elims are likely slipping by just not really doing much

But I've also been procrastinating working on reading the rest of the metagame aaa I have started though and I'm mid c1, so I might get that done by the end of this cycle x.x

I mean, this is the 4th meta game cycle, and he hasn’t died here so

So Striker lied too about the "scan" being correct and he's a different role?

What? No, that’s not what I meant. He’s no longer the newbie(if I’m interpreting the rules correctly) but that doesn’t mean he’s lying.

its not like it’s going to be announced what his role changes to.

And he died in the pseudo game not the meta game. And newbie is an extra life in the meta game

You’re misunderstanding the role. I don’t just die after MetaCycle 3, my role just changes from essentially a Thug to a vote manip role.

Well, you know, I scanned you as a meta-elim last cycle, so we could exe you instead :P.

I agree in part with your point that going down a list exeing folks isn’t good practice. It’s rough for the folks on the list and makes it hard for other folks to engage. But I think in the case of Verdance there are 2 counterpoints that mean we should exe him. First, his response to my joke was pretty damning. He claimed the exact role/action combination that could make himself look village, and then gave additional information that his claimed role couldn’t provide. Second, if we win the pseudogame, we are going to get 1-2 free flips. If Verdance is actually an elim, we don’t want to waste one of those flips on him.

Additionally, if you don’t want us to exe Verdance, you really need to suggest an alternative. Executions are a valuable resource and executing nobody puts us further from winning.

I do think the inevitability of some of the exes in this game is a bit of a flaw in the game design, but I haven’t been able to think of a minor patch to fix the issue. Once the pseudogame ends we’ll have a similar issue where we just go down the list and execute everyone who got revealed (assuming we win the bet).

Well, exe either Coco or Ver, I don’t care which

I get that, and I do have to admit that I don't really have much better suggestions

I'm voting Coco now cause of the pseudo-GM business, but I guess that is still falling into the same trap I condemned with your Verdance train

Still, if anyone is willing to back a counter-train, here it is, I'd trust my Pseudo-GM with my life

Is no one noticing that Araris just claimed he scanned Hoid as a MetaElim??? We’re just glossing over that??

Posted

Ehhh, I think it's sorted of a foregone conclusion that some combination of Verdance, Hoid Slayer, Coco will give you atleast a couple of elims. Conversion is one of their biggest hope.

Speaking of, kinda glad I got ret. killed because it equals things out and we're still quite balanced in terms of pseudo-game that we think it can still swing both ways.

Tbf, I doubt the GMs expected the pseudoGMs to hand out steel allomancy like candy.

Did you not remember that when Araris was joking about Ver he said he didn’t even know there was a scanning role?

Its obviously a joke(I’m actually sure this time)

so yes, we are, because Araris isn’t being serious

Bacon woke up.

Then he yawned and went back to sleep.

"No!" exclaimed an exasperated voice. "You can't sleep now!"

But Bacon did just that.

LG112 - Pseudocycle Five: The First One Bites the Dust

Ding!

The Unknown Player looked at his phone. He had a new email. It was probably spam, but he didn't have anything better to do so he opened the notification.

“Holy—”

They caught one. The automated detection systems caught a Roleplay Character.

The Unknown Player logged onto the Shard and looked at the account. Yes, it was obvious now. The posts, the history, it was clearly not made by a human.

And now they had a posting style to draw from. This could be the key to finding every last one of them.

~

The Unknown Deity snorted. “Bout time.”

CadCom has been killed! They were a Vanilla SE Player.

Verdance has been executed! They were a Roleplay Character PseudoGM.

Vote Count:

Verdance(7): KitKat, Divergent, Qian, CadCom, Striker, Araris

Coco (0): Hoid Slayer

Shardworld links will be out eventually.

This cycle will end on Sunday the 13th of June at 11:00 AM Central Time.

So, Coco’s next in the meta cycle?

And for now I vote exe-ing lettuce/ the other pseudo elim

Posted

For the record, Verdance is NOT the PseudoGM to have converted me, Hoid and me.

Which means Coco has got to go next.

I'll go through Verdance's posts to see if they were leaning either way for the bet.

Why were we exeing the pseudo elims again? I never totally got the logic behind that.

I think Myst was the biggest supporter of the idea, but there is a general belief among some of us that the meta-elims voted for a pseudo-elim win. I'm leaning that way, but not entirely convinced. If I get Time, I'll also analyze Verdance's posts. But I don't think from memory there's much indicitive of much there.

Possibly a more fruitful approach would be to analyze the posts around when I claimed the scan on Verdance. That’s where I’m headed now.

Edit: There are a few notable responses to my claim. Verdance himself was generally confused but made his own claim on the assumption I was being honest. I got a PM from Hoid asking for me to verify that I was joking and that we were all voting on Verdance because it was funny (note: I probably wouldn’t do something like this to someone I consider a newer player). Mippo and Kit Kat weirdly kinda ignored the whole thing. And after I clarified that I was joking, Striker immediately agreed that Verdance was elim.

Based on Verdance’s reaction, if we assume he had the elim doc open and was checking it, we can also assume that his teammates either were not online at the time, or they had some sort of progression from confusion to buying my claim. In retrospect, this should have been some evidence in favor of meta-village!Myst, since his reaction doesn’t fit this profile.

Hoid’s vote would be similar, except for the clarifying PM. That seems like something one of Verdance’s teammates might do. Unfortunately, I didn’t see the PM for a bit so I didn’t get to feel things out more there. coco’s vote feels kinda similar to Hoid’s, and I also got a PM from coco asking for clarification (less weird than Hoid’s, since we already had a PM up).

And then Mippo/Kit Kat totally dodged the issue despite posting between my initial claim and my later reveal. This is also not a great look in my opinion. Especially for Mippo, who seems to be echoing some of Verdance’s continued confusion a bit later in the turn.

Striker looks pretty clean. I don’t easily see how he can be on a team with Verdance given their totally different reactions.

I’m thinking something like coco/Mippo/Hoid as the remaining meta-elims. Realistically only 1-2 of those are right, since plenty of folks weren’t online during the crucial time of this interaction. But I would lean toward any other elims being newer or less active based on the overall reaction to my gambit (Lettuce/Twinstorm->Divergent/Xino/Star)

Conveniently, Mippo is still alive in the pseudogame, so why don’t we boot him out.

Well I completely forgot today was rollover so my bad yall

looks like we got Ver anyway tho so that’s good. Took us long enough.

@Kit_Kat are you the one who moved Hoid/Slayerman’s vote? And if so, why?

So Ver obviously changed either my role or Slayerman and TJ’s roles (we’ve established that was the same person, right?). I see TJ has claimed otherwise but there’s no way to verify that.
Along that thread, what’s the order of actions here? Could we possibly have another new meta elim coinshot running around? @The Unknown Medallion @Through the living Wahr

I like this. (I was already assuming Araris is village but this solidifies it for me a bit.) I can agree on Mippo. Some of what he’s been saying in PMs has had him on my watchlist but there hasn’t really been a moment when we didn’t have a good target.

Ig the other course of action is going for pseudo elims instead? I could be willing to do that but if we keep getting rid of them it’ll be too late to turn back soon and we’ll have to commit to foiling a pseudo elim bet.
